I’m starting to wonder if a regular workweek exists here anymore. Why is everyone doing extra time and acting like that’s just part of the job now?

Underpaid & Underappreciated
CRM here. We are overwhelmed. Supporting 70 plans is way too much. My friend at Voya who is in a similar role has 36 plans. Plus, they have a CRM assistant. We have nothing like that & need it. No wonder the company can't retain clients. Many of us are fed up. Our leadership is out of touch & checked out. Leaders only pay lip service to our needs.
Get rid of the jack wagons across the company that dont do anything but soak up a check!!!
I’m tired of it and I’m not alone. The dysfunction across the company has become pervasive. It’s especially pronounced in TGS and IT, largely due to heavy reliance on outsourcing in critical areas. But the issue isn’t isolated. Any function that has been outsourced is struggling.
As a result, teams are left trying to deliver projects and meet goals without the resources or support needed to do so effectively. What remains is a workforce that is burned out, disengaged, and increasingly unable to keep up. Many of the most experienced and capable people have already moved on, and those who remain often feel stretched thin or are simply holding on until better opportunities arise.
There’s also a clear divide between those who are driving results and those who are not contributing meaningful value. The fact that some of the latter are highly compensated only adds to the growing frustration. The strain and resentment are becoming impossible to ignore.
What's the endgame?
I'm seriously asking. Is there even one? Layoffs have only managed to cut useful, productive people who were valuable to their teams and the company. I, for one, can't pick up the work left by people who were recently laid off, even if I wanted to. And I don't want to. AI isn't replacing anyone in any functional way. So the endgame is to squeeze the last drop until everything falls apart?
Workload
Did the workload go up the last couple of years? Or is it just me getting lazy?
Five jobs, one paycheck, zero help
Headcount keeps dropping but the work never does, so you just keep piling more on your plate. Meanwhile, your manager couldn't do your job if their life depended on it, so good luck getting any real support. It is exhausting and completely unsustainable. This is a nightmare and I'm sick of living it.
T2 Burn Out
Anyone else in a T2 department that’s consistently told by higher ups they are not backfilling positions and we have enough people. Yet everyday we’re in an alert due to terrible service levels and have tons of people waiting on hold, meaning we only do phones all day and all other activities are cancelled? If anything we are worse after the end of the year and tax season. This place su-ks the soul out of you after years doing the same thing. It appears the goal is to try and squeeze as much work as possible from less people. Leadership acts like the world is on fire if some business partners are on hold for a couple minutes.
How does everyone deal with the sheer exhaustion of FIS?
The fatigue is so difficult to manage. The constant shocking twists and turns. How does everyone manage?
Low pay, no balance, and zero boundaries
The pay is awful and they expect your whole life to revolve around this place. Days off don't mean much when they call you in anyway. Work life balance isn't a thing here. It's exhausting.
Everyone here is just surviving
Nobody trained me. You're simply expected to know things, then get blamed when you don't. The mood is terrible because everyone is only here out of necessity. Corporate talks a big game about safety and standards but won't fund what it actually takes to meet them. They'd rather rearrange the shelves than make the job manageable for the people stuck doing it.
Yet again
I lost count of how many layoffs have happened in the past 8 years. Today's is the worst. Our already skeleton crew was cut in half. All of us are already over worked. This place is going to be a disgruntled sweatshop in day or 2. And they layed of the folks with a future. 3 of us are close to retirement and informed our managers that a layoff would be welcome for us. Nope, they skipped us and went for younger generation. Who is going to carry this company forward? NetApp... where stupid thrives.
Too many cuts
There were so many cuts lately that every person on my team now does the work of two people - if we're lucky! Some are doing even more. When will this end? When we start keeling over?
Anyone have any juicy insight into what's going on over in PDD (Design/Tech) in Home?
I am no longer with the company but very curious about how things are going and moving along since last year's layoffs; and what the overall morale is like in Design and Tech; especially in the Home Division?
Prior to my departure, promotions were scarce and people were feeling stagnant, overworked/underappreciated and not being able to move around and grow... is that still the case for most L4/L5s and maybe L6s?
GN&T Q&A
Even though you're doing more work, more hours, more roles and the load of three others, you don't deserve a raise because Vz is so much more efficient and has better tools than ever before?
He actually said that with a straight face.
Human Resources does not exist at belk, it’s all smoke and mirrors
Just so everyone is clear, store Human Resources are not really Human Resources, they are hourly associates with a “lead” title but absolutely no experience, power, influence, ideas.
The main goal of store Human Resources is to act as an administrative assistant to most store managers. (Making schedules, setting up event food service, correcting time cards, training any new hires, and assistance with potential disciplinary/attendance issues)
HRBP’s are work from home and have little to no traditional Human Resources experience or credentials. They function as a liaison between the store managers and RVP and/or group Vice President or higher
Corporate Human Resources (above hrbp level) is never in stores, talking to employees, and seeing issues with employee scheduling, unsatisfactory working conditions, how some employees are overworked, unfair schedules, and some managers working only bankers hours.
Some complaints to HRBP’s remain unanswered, unresolved, or brushed off. Some excel line responses from HRBP’s almost have a sarcastic, insulting tone to them.
One infamous HRBP is a former store manager, works from home, and gives the most out of touch excel line or email responses to problems in stores, on the phone, she seems almost distracted and disinterested in helping with any issues an employee is having.
HRBP’s give outright incorrect information regarding FMLA, maternity leave, health insurance, and any other issues, some calls and emails to hrbp go unanswered.
Employees truly have nowhere to turn for unbiased assessments of what is happening in their stores. The store managers at some stores are complicit in wrongdoing and should not be the ones contacted to resolve issues.
To me this whole thing just craps.
I don’t know about you but I bust my hump working long hard and nonstop rapid pace. I eat at my laptop and I’m feeling like no matter how good or great or exceptional it’s never going to be enough. Add this and sprinkle in AI and globalized competing for jobs but I don’t know how I’ll survive all of this. Literally abc figuratively.
Love my Sundays
I always love how the day starts out great. But then my boss gets into her email and starts firing away all sorts of directives and asks. I probably have a few more hours before this nonsense starts. Often wanting a response “ASAP”. Almost all isn’t urgent yet treated that way.
I’m on the clock at all times Monday thru Friday and basically get a Saturday off. This isn’t sustainable.
Anybody else’s boss “lead” in this glorious 2010 fashion? At least we sponsored the NBA Dunk contest, right “see you on the commute guy?? That changes everything.
No layoffs but budget cuts
Our area was told to come up with a plan to show that we can save at lease 12% this year compared to last year. No more hiring for us. No more external consultants. Travel is almost non-existent after Sapphire. And we are asked to find ways to bring the costs down. There is negotiation going on regarding reducing some company benefits. And we have been asked to get more work done with the same employees. While this may be good news for many that we don't have layoffs, it is still bad news because we will have less worker protections and our benefits will get cut. And for sure employees will be overwhelmed with too much work. When this happens, you can expect the "performance" of all employees to go down and also their appraisals for next year. Welcome to recession at SAP I guess. As a company, our financials are strong but instead of investing in employees we are investing in... AI that customers do not want to pay more for and in... bonuses for group executives and the executive board. I hate this company.
Why does ShitTel want you to do more and pay less ?
Are you id--t enough for that or should you demand pay more with do less ? Which do you prefer if you decide to stay at ShitTel ?
Toxic Work Culture
Does it ever end??? This is the worst company I’ve ever worked for! This company seems to hire toxic leadership on purpose. I have yet to meet anyone that is satisfied with the ill treatment we are met with from the leaders. The only time we get told we are doing well is right before leadership requires us to take on another meaningless project. We are over worked because those that perform well are only left to pick up the slack of the “favorites” while the favorites get paid more for doing less. I’m expected to do my managers job as well. I think I’d rather quit and take the chance of starving to save my self from this soul crushing place. I have the rudest B5 lead on team! He was a manager but was demoted due to his employee survey scores & when I tell my direct manager I am met with “ Trust me he doesn’t want to be a people leader y’all get on his nerves” if that’s the case why is he left in charge of us while your on maternity leave? It’s been he-l on Earth at this place.
Underpaid and overworked
That should be Medtronic's new motto.
We are drowning in work
I'm so burnt out that I'm ready to ask for a spot on the next list. The strategy of slashing headcount to boost profits and never looking back is not sustainable.
Overwhelmed
Just need to vent. My personal life has fallen apart and I’m dealing with diagnosed PTSD. I’m overwhelmed by the pressure I’m under at the office, especially being on a team responsible for responding to global emergencies. I can’t take time away from work. And it’s PDS season. Under so much pressure. Going to therapy. Doing everything I can to stay afloat. But I’m just crumbling and feel I can’t function in my managerial capacity. So much pressure.
Calendar is completely out of control
I open my calendar in the morning and it’s already packed before I even start the day. Half the meetings overlap or get moved around last minute, so I’m constantly adjusting. I’m trying to keep up, but it feels like I spend more time managing my calendar than actually doing my job. It’s getting overwhelming in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’re in it. Do I just have bad luck or is this something others have encountered?
Hiring freeze
What's the deal with the hiring freeze. My team has been overworked and under staffed for half the year in GRM. Is there any end in sight it's dam near May
The new normal
They cut two people from my team months ago and gave me their work. So now I'm carrying three roles. I've stopped caring about deadlines. I do what I can and the rest waits. If something is late, that's their problem now.
Things just keep getting added to my plate
I'm doing so much work that isn't in my job description because nobody else will do it. These tasks are essential but completely invisible to management. They just accumulate and no one acknowledges them. I'm so, so tired of this being the expectation.
Work your wage, folks
Stop celebrating overworking. You're not helping anybody but the company's bottom line.
If CEO LBT does not work full time, why he layoff people for RTO?
LBT owns tons of companies. If he only works part time, why he layoff people working 60 hours per week by excuse of RTO?
This is such a broken way to operate
I spend all day in pointless meetings that add zero value. Then I have to work late to actually get my work done because there's no time during the day. It's a constant cycle of falling behind.
Why do we take all the overtime for normal, again?
It's not as if it will ever pay off. The only thing one can hope for is to be worked to the point of exhaustion, ditched and replaced. Working hard once made sense. Putting in some extra effort opened doors and created opportunities. It's pure masochism these days. What is it? Fear, habit, delusions that it might help you keep the job?
I think about quitting every day now
No offense intended to any recent layoffs or anyone that might be affected in the future.
I am a long term high performer. As a result of a recent reorg, bringing our team into IT that shouldn't be in IT, they put me in a brand new role I'm horrible at and I hate, and are overworking me to death. Not only does my leadership have no fu--ing clue what they're doing, they are extremely thin skinned, and not open to feedback. So fu-k it, maybe they're right, I'm not equipped for a role in their stupid bullsh-t org. I think they're going to fu-k up royally and cost the company a lot of money, but let them own it.
I am now begging, pleading with everyone I know internally to try to find a life raft. I don't even care if I have to take a pay hit, this stress is taking years off my life and will be very damaging to my career. But if I can't find something, externally or internally, I think I just need to quit. This is the d-mbest sh-t in the universe, and I really am the atlas holding a bunch up, so fu-k it, let them deal with the consequences of their stupid choices and yes men bullsh-t. They're about to do something very stupid that's going to pi-s a LOT of people off and make tons of enemies.
I'm tired all the time
We used to have a slower season, a time when you could catch your breath and actually think. That doesn't exist anymore. The pace is relentless now, and the workload has become the baseline. Everyone is exhausted, but pointing it out feels pointless because leadership seems to think this is just how it should be.
Don't pick up any extra work!
Don't help them by proving that the work can be done with fewer people by breaking your own back for nothing in return. Don't say no, just say you're busy. Your plate is full. You'd love to help but there's simply not enough time for it all. They're counting on you breaking. Please don't.
If you're considering a startup, be careful
I was desperate for a way out of Fiserv and the opportunity looked amazing. What it ended up turning into was endless hours, impossible deadlines, and constant panic. Now I'm stuck because it's even harder to land a job than when I left. Even Fiserv looks attractive at this point.
The working six days a week flex is weird
A coworker tried to one-up me for being tired after four days because they grind six days straight. That's such a weird flex. Cool, you give all your time to State Farm and have no free time and I do. I'll take my energy and my weekend over whatever that competition is supposed to prove.
They cut half of us last year
Now the people left are doing twice the work. Every single day.
Give me one reason to be invested in this job
I need to pay the bills. But I'm not going to bust my a-s for a paycheck. Everything else is an insult to our intelligence. Forget promotions or a decent raise. They work you as hard as they can get away with, and then kick you to the curb. So, as far as I'm concerned - no overtime, no hard work, and I couldn't care less about outcomes. Passable coasting is all I'm willing to do until a better opportunity comes along.
Toxic Work Place
Mass exodus happening across the retail space. Employees giving the middle finger to Sr Directors and directors for treating them like sh-t, threatening their jobs, overworking front line, creating their own policies. Allowing fraud and major compliance violations to occur in the name of hitting targets and leading in performance. Look very close at the areas that specifically won presidents cabinet and winners circle. Tod Rye is an absolute clown and should be fired immediately. 🤡 🐱
Hard work doesn't matter here
You can work nights and weekends and they'll still blame you for the next tiny thing. The worst people sit right next to you, take credit and disappear when there's a problem. I'm completely finished with it.
