Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Love my Sundays

I always love how the day starts out great. But then my boss gets into her email and starts firing away all sorts of directives and asks. I probably have a few more hours before this nonsense starts. Often wanting a response “ASAP”. Almost all isn’t urgent yet treated that way.

I’m on the clock at all times Monday thru Friday and basically get a Saturday off. This isn’t sustainable.

Anybody else’s boss “lead” in this glorious 2010 fashion? At least we sponsored the NBA Dunk contest, right “see you on the commute guy?? That changes everything.

Just tell your boss lady where she can get off.

I had a boss that was worse than Trump, they would send out emails at between 2-3am and expecting an immediate response! In addition would be in the office on Sunday reading the paper. Some people have no life outside of AT&T.

Stankey on the other hand is on the company’s jet checking on his mega homes on the west coast!

Most people working here don’t get that we are actually a 24/7/365 company. Anyone working in Network Engineering and Operations knows this all too well. Bad weather, disasters, or some big network issue just means we all have to go running and they don’t care what you have going on. The network doesn’t shut down at 5pm on Friday.
Be grateful you don’t have to do 24/7 on calls throughout the year on top of your regular hours. No we don’t get paid extra for it. Yes I have to still be in the office 5x8 AND expected to work any time or any place outside the office for as long as it takes, I’ve worked 40 straight hours without sleep before, but those hours don’t count towards your 40 and no comp time. Yes those overzealous bosses are annoying, they don’t have a life. There is no such thing as work/life balance here.

I am designated a full time office worker. That's means I'm not allowed to work from home. My laptop hasn't left the office in over six months.

Finding this hard to believe. I have been in various management roles for many years. I don’t know anyone that sends or checks emails on Sunday anymore. We don’t get paid for that.
And I’m assuming you’re home? You realize we can’t work from home, right?

I love Sunday's too. Haven't looked at work since 2:30 pm on Friday. Down at the Pub playing some billards. Popped an edible. My boss darn knows well if she calls, I won't answer anyways. 8 and skate. It can wait.

"I’m on the clock at all times Monday thru Friday" So you are on the clock 24x7? That's 5x24 hours, so your check is for 120 hours per week. Don't think so

You’re so lucky to get such clear direction to be able to hit the ground running first thing Monday.

Why are you checking e-mail on a Sunday? Grow a pair and don’t let some lady boss run your life.
