We used to have no trouble filling open roles. Now we can't seem to find anyone. Is this happening elsewhere too?

Whenever someone leaves the team, the first question is never "how do we replace this person?" It's "who can take over their responsibilities?" Before long, their entire workload gets spread across everyone else, and we're expected to keep everything running like nothing happened. The problem is that this keeps happening over and over, and the team is already exhausted. People are working longer hours just to keep up, but there doesn't seem to be any urgency from management to address the staffing issue. I honestly don't know what the breaking point is supposed to be before someone realizes we need more people if we're to keep going.

I seriously just got a call from a recruiter asking me if I was job hunting. I said yes. He said the job was as a clinical review nurse for Centene! WTF?!! We fighting got our lives here and they already looking to replace us with temps!

Belk is the only department store to still be operating like it’s Covid 2020. Stores have not improved since the pandemic in terms of staffing levels and services for customers. We are stuck in Covid business model.

Seems like fewer folks than originally thought actually want to move to OKC. It will be 50/50 Permian staff in OKC and Midland. Seems like they are favoring continuity over cutting folks.

Everyone is being asked to cut back on everything from coffee supplies, toilet paper, janitorial, repairs, etc. and it’s barely halfway into second quarter… what’s going on? We usually don’t see this until late in the year. Plus with the staffing cuts, it’s not making sense this early. Does anyone think this is for a DT merger?

I have to say .. after working at gainwell for a VERY short period. I am shocked by how lazy and ill informed the staff is. I sat in on meetings on making things better, faster, stronger and 99% of the staff had no idea about how the work flows operated. None understood the data and how to interpret it. You all just sat around with your thumbs up your @55s. Some were knitting. others didnt understand ports or APIs or anything related to data or applications. it was "i do what my boss tells me" instead of making things better. I told the director " i will fail with all of these mo--ns because they are clearly just gov staff hoping to receive a paycheck". Christ people, learn what AI is. learn about K8s. learn about cloud. learn about coding or work flow. at least offer up solutions to make things better for your fellow co-workers or the people that use your service. if you dont it will all be outsource to NTT or other service providers. For everyone stressing about losing your job, stop worrying and start planning.

When the Marcus massacre hit in August of 2022, I knew we were entering a new era. Right then I made peace with the fact that none of us were safe. I went into uber saving mode, paid off as much debt as possible, didn’t make any large purchases like cars or houses. I just saved!

Fast forward almost 4 years, I survived countless “reorgs” , staff reductions, etc. watched lots of friends and coworkers leave for no good reason. My luck ran out and I was RIFd a couple months ago. I’ve taken the time off and relaxed, it took a couple weeks for it to really sink in. But once I had purged the toxicity of that place and could see it for what it really was, I was happy.

I drive my kids to school every morning, work out every morning, drink coffee and read or listen to music. I spend an hour or so looking at job opportunities. And also thinking about going back to school because why not.

Don’t stress, just make peace that you’re going to get hit eventually. Save, Save, & save and be prepared.
