Fran says she’s saving jobs

Anyone see Fran’s interview?
Where is she getting all the numbers about 75% of the people getting our yard are getting internally placed again? Most instances the reqs are frozen or there’s none to apply to. She is so fake and I can’t believe people love her post.

Universities Face Budget Shortfalls, Announce Layoffs and Freezes

Many public universities are implementing significant budget cuts. These actions include hiring freezes, layoffs, and structural changes. Universities face declining enrollment, reduced state funding, and rising costs. Several institutions, including the University of Oregon and Portland State, announced staff reductions. Oakland City University suspended all undergraduate programs and laid off 167 employees.

Intuit Upcoming Layoffs Plan

Do not ask me where I got this from. This is the layoffs plan:

Leadership has determined a strategic shift to cut costs, invest in AI, reorganize priorities. Finance and HR has identified which teams, roles, or locations will be reduced, mostly around Engineering. Managers are evaluating employees based on performance, role relevance, and compensation, while HR and legal reviewing the plan for compliance with labor laws and discrimination risks (Yes, external consulting firm involved).
Once finalized, affected employees are notified (by this month) — often through meetings or emails — with system access revoked immediately. Intuit will make announcement via public messaging framed around terms like “restructuring” or “AI transformation” to shape the narrative.

A hiring freeze will remain in effect for the next six months, after which recruitment will resume with a focus on new strategic priorities — even as current employees continue to shoulder heavier workloads within leaner teams and under heightened expectations.

Hope this helps.

UMD Workers Protest Job Cuts and Hiring Freeze

University of Maryland union members protested a hiring freeze and anticipated layoffs. Dozens of employees marched to the administration building. The university announced up to 150 positions could be eliminated. This decision stems from reduced state funding for the university system. AFSCME Local 1072 organized the protest and attempted to deliver a letter.

CRLTC

I don’t think CRLTC is doing too well. Does anyone else have suspicions that they will have more layoffs coming? Smartsource hasn’t had a layoff since 2023 and with all of the hiring freezes and layoffs in other departments, I wonder if Smartsource is next

UMD Employees Concerned Over Hiring Freeze, Job Cuts

University of Maryland administrators enacted a hiring freeze. This action followed reduced state funding for the upcoming fiscal year. Up to 150 positions are expected to be eliminated through various means, including layoffs. Employees and union members expressed frustration and concern over job security and support. They believe the cuts will negatively impact worker morale and the university's operations.

No layoffs but budget cuts

Our area was told to come up with a plan to show that we can save at lease 12% this year compared to last year. No more hiring for us. No more external consultants. Travel is almost non-existent after Sapphire. And we are asked to find ways to bring the costs down. There is negotiation going on regarding reducing some company benefits. And we have been asked to get more work done with the same employees. While this may be good news for many that we don't have layoffs, it is still bad news because we will have less worker protections and our benefits will get cut. And for sure employees will be overwhelmed with too much work. When this happens, you can expect the "performance" of all employees to go down and also their appraisals for next year. Welcome to recession at SAP I guess. As a company, our financials are strong but instead of investing in employees we are investing in... AI that customers do not want to pay more for and in... bonuses for group executives and the executive board. I hate this company.

UTA Reduces Workforce by 49 Amid Financial Challenges

The University of Texas at Arlington has laid off 49 employees. These layoffs occurred since June 1, 2025, across 14 departments. Financial strain from federal funding cuts and fewer international students contributed to the decision. A statewide tuition freeze also impacted university revenue. UTA is implementing other measures like buyouts and a hiring freeze for sustainability.

Success-Driven Culture and Connections

In the BNY annual letter, BNY leadership credits ‘culture and connections’ for our strong performance. Really? Or is this just a poetic way of saying the balance sheet looks fantastic when thousands of employees mysteriously vanish through ‘efficiency initiatives.’ Apparently 2025 was a triumph because nothing boosts margins like RTO‑driven attrition, frozen hiring, and AI agents quietly absorbing entire job families.

And 2026? Even more ‘opportunity,’ which is corporate code for deeper cuts wrapped in inspirational hashtags emojis.

But don’t worry — leadership says we’re all thriving together. Afterall, check the stock price and EC Compensation Plans. Some of us just happen to be thriving right out the door.” #onwardandupward

Anyone catch that quarterly call QA on Europe Hiring freeze and layoffs?

The question was when will the European internal hiring freeze be lifted and is there another layoff coming soon. It was responded by effectively “Hiring freeze will not be lifted any time soon. Anyways I think everyone should be building agents. Next question!”

Yikes. No comment on the layoffs is quite telling but I could be reading too much into it

Hiring freeze and AI automation and another layoff?

AI has been a really really hot topic at the company in the last month. Obviously it’s been a hot topic at the org for a few years now but they seem to really be pushing it extra hard the last month. Got word we are now in a hiring freeze of sorts and any role looking for backfills will now be reevaluated on if AI can take the place of that role. Are we headed towards another big layoff due to “automation” in the next few months? Been saving extra hard lately for fear of not having a job soon. Anyone hear of anything about layoffs soon?

Wait for it...

After getting HR approval to post a req for a backfill I have, was recently told NO hiring can happen until at least May if not FY27. So, I had to close the req and stop interviews. Also, awards budget was the smallest Ive seen in my many years managing. Something substantial is on the way folks, so hang on.

Starting to fall into the same trap

I see ServiceNow falling into the same trap as other legacy technology companies have. They’re all about the people and AI but now they’ve started with hiring freezes, Budget cuts, and more. Not totally shocking with the price of the stock, but they have to stop playing like they’re not like others

"We're not on a hiring freeze"

What an absolute lawyer type statement and I'll say it - it's a lie. We are on a hiring freeze and you know it. Be sure to add that little part about contractors too. Counting that one grain of salt on a beach and saying the beach is made of salt is what you and the rest of the clown show are doing. One req here and there for an EIC or sales person doesn't move the needle forward.

Pinpoints Four Layoff Warning Signs

SaaS data insight firm Dofollow.com identified four key indicators of impending company layoffs. These signs include hiring freezes disguised as "role reviews" and sudden cost-cutting measures across departments. Aggressive productivity metrics and shifts in leadership communication also signal potential workforce reductions. The U.S. economy recently saw unexpected job cuts, with 97,000 non-farm payroll jobs lost in February. Despite this, total jobs remain above long-term trends, suggesting a "rightsizing" rather than a crisis.
