Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Calendar is completely out of control

I open my calendar in the morning and it’s already packed before I even start the day. Half the meetings overlap or get moved around last minute, so I’m constantly adjusting. I’m trying to keep up, but it feels like I spend more time managing my calendar than actually doing my job. It’s getting overwhelming in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’re in it. Do I just have bad luck or is this something others have encountered?

@f3 Literally every meeting on my calendar that I didn't schedule with a custimer is labeled as "mandatory" or "all hands" I go to the ones I feel like and say sc--w the rest

Manage your calendar better. Do you attend meetings just because you're invited? If the meeting agenda doesn't apply to you directly for that session, decline it. It's really a simple thing to do. You can always read the meeting summaries if you really want to know what was discussed

Having multiple meetings at the same time is a blessing in disguise, that means that you can tell everyone that you're double booked and then not attend any of them.

WAY too many meetings. Meetings to make slides. Meetings to review slides. Meetings to change the font on the slides. Meetings to prep your manager to speak to the slides. Meeting post meeting to redo the slides. Do our managers actually know anything about our products and what we do? Then there’s the meeting to get scolded because your actual deliverables are falling behind because you spent most of your week doing slides to prep your manager for their meeting with leaders.

@bs Good God, your manager is an absolute id--t, like most Dell managers. They think you can be in 3 meetings at the same time. Then they get mad when you miss two of them. Fu-king id--ts!!!

This has been an ongoing thing for 8+ years. When I point out that my manager scheduled me to be in 3 different trainings/meetings at the same time she just tells me that I need to manage my time better so I scheduled a customer call instead.

Exec leadership feels important when they schedule tons of useless meetings, many of which they never even show up for.

100% agree. That’s what happens when they treat people poorly, layoff tons of people and don’t give a f#ck about you.

Greed has completely taken over this company.
