Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

It's becoming ridiculous

They keep adding more work even though our plates are already full. People leave or get let go, and they're never replaced, meaning we have to pick up after them. At this point, the majority of us are doing sixty hour weeks. Do they expect us to forget we have families?

And what will you get in return for your hard work and dedication? A pink slip cause you landed on that hole of an HR department's spreadsheet.

Repeat after me: I would prefer not to
Say it over and over. I think you'll be surprised where it can get you.

You don't actually have to pick up after them. Don't accept abuse and don't normalize it.

The ELT holds all the cards and they are jokers. The best thing any employee can do is stop playing the game and leave the table. If you stay, it’s a lose/lose. Either work crazy hours, burn out and leave or start doing the minimum and get laid off. At least with the latter, you get more personal time and severance.

ELT is playing a psychological game where they know many people have a strong work ethic and will continue to produce to make them continue to keep the Ponzi scheme going. Look at all of them on LinkedIn, they are relaxed and saying how great everything is. Life is too short to try to keep a 3 or 4 rating at Opentext.

Don't do the 60 hour week. Do you contractually required minimum and go home.

They will never think twice about replacing you, you should definitely think twice about sacrificing your personal time to them.

They expect you to get burnt out and quit, so they don't have to lay you off
