Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Yet again

I lost count of how many layoffs have happened in the past 8 years. Today's is the worst. Our already skeleton crew was cut in half. All of us are already over worked. This place is going to be a disgruntled sweatshop in day or 2. And they layed of the folks with a future. 3 of us are close to retirement and informed our managers that a layoff would be welcome for us. Nope, they skipped us and went for younger generation. Who is going to carry this company forward? NetApp... where stupid thrives.

Yeah, if they would do something like Microsoft did and offer some packages to those who are closer to retirement, they could avoid all this cr-p. A package offer with 1 year to train your replacement would be a novel idea. But, we'll fire a ton of people who actually have the ability to communicate, then bring in more H1B visas who can't speak English and wonder why our customer get frustrated with our support.

Netapp like HPE has had practically the same stock price for over 10 years. Adjusted for inflation that’s a negative trend and yet management lays people off and then management never changes. It’s about time they get new CEOs at both of those companies.

They laid off my dad, and my mom doesn't have a job that can fully sustain us, if my dad can't get a new job, we will have to find a new home, new school for me and my younger sister, who already don't have much friends. Can't even eat out anymore because we are so tight now. NetApp thinks AI will solve all their problems when it can't even solve my math problems.
