How is the landscape looking right now? Is it akin to the hunger games? First thing is the cloud stuff. We were told to go full hog to the cloud so we did. Now the outages are insane, and leadership is regretting it for our area, but with on prem... — read more
Retirement RIF Bonus
I ended up being part of the November RIF at Optum, which actually worked out in my favor thanks to my team lead. I had already told my manager in September that I was planning to retire in October. She let me know about the upcoming layoffs and... — read more

The gap between leadership and our world just keeps getting wider
Town hall became “all about me” CFO spends 30 minutes talking about himself and his wife instead of the growth, health of the company. While he was patting himself on the back for taking the job, I got 35 emails and 2 phone calls I then had to deal... — read more
Jan 22 - Next Round
There will be a huge round of layoffs happening in Optum with notification date of Jan 22. Every business is at risk, as Corporate handed down mandates of between 10%-30% reductions depending on the business. More happening in Feb & Mar as well. Oh... — read more
Quitting - would they make you work the 2 week notice?
I work as a Coding Analyst I’m going to be quitting. Anyone know if they make work out the two week notice? Debating whether to give a 2 week notice or just quit the last day I would want to work.

Fix your Hiring Process
Message to HR from Philippine . We applied the last week of November, and then we were given a start date of December 4th. My colleagues were able to start, while I was put on hold because they said they'd already met their maximum cap for the... — read more
New fear unlocked
Good luck with that. My manager is just writing people up to fire them with cause - and then replacing them with offshore labor. Is this really happening?
Here's to hoping the Banmedica sell will remove Unqualified Infosec Staff
Right on time for UHG to complete divesting the LATM businesses. One can only hope with that the unqualified people with fake LinkedIns will also be divested. Let's start with the UHG Segment Information Security Officer - Global who also claims to... — read more
OESS All Staff Mtg tomorrow
Looks like I was on one email that was sent on behalf of Phil McKoy. Body of email says note 1 of 4 invites sent. Any reason to be concerned? Are layoffs or a reorg here?
Salary Transparency Thread
In full transparency, and in support of everyone trying to navigate the uncertainty right now, I think it could really help if we start sharing salary information. Having a clearer picture of compensation across grade levels and roles can empower all... — read more
Masters of attrition
They’ve made the conditions so difficult that we either leave on our own or stay completely miserable, and at this point it feels entirely by design. They’re not even subtle or creative about it anymore. What’s next?
Reducing the maximum 401K match
Effective 1/1/2026, UHG/Optum/UHC will reduce the maximum for their 401K match from 4.5% to 3.5%. In case anyone was wondering if they're trying to get employees to give up and leave.
Surprised and not surprised that they did not address the elephant in the room during the townhall
but glad we learned about the CFO's deadbeat brother I guess?
ESRO is such a clown show
They give all these teams a deadline of 12/15 to get their MBO score in order. Many teams in our org had releases scheduled to address various vulnerabilities prior to this deadline. Now that date has magically shifted to 12/10 and the "MBO Score"... — read more
Lower pay grade for same job
There are postings I see this week of roles I know 100% were a pay grade higher which is now lower by one level. So take away our bonus, lower 401, lower raise, more workload, less people and now downgrading roles. Fu-k you optum.

With the 401k funding change, could severance packages also change?

Raise your hand if you had to name names for the December RIF list.

Why don’t you just leave this site? Stop commenting on every post. We will not stop sharing. Maybe you need to see a therapist. Maybe you clearly also need a friend because you seem real lonely. Anyways bye boomer.
They just cut the 401k match
This company is circling the drain. Cutting by 1% the match. Cutting costs everywhere. You just lost whatever raise your were getting. Actually worse with the health insurance rises.
Please don't quit
Hold on and wait for the severance package. It’s coming anyway.
RTO being counterproductive
