Top performers are a threat to weak management. If the company was smart-they would reward their hard workers. They can’t because of this. They are too threatened that those below them are smarter than they are. Intelligence will get you in the door-but Optum is too threatened to keep you.

That superhero malarky is complete bs. Just a title for the biggest management ego massagers hoping to move up the tree. I see that on an email signature and think oh great another captain visibility and useless to getting things done. Or if they still bragging 3 years later
Also a super hero top performer and was part of a layoff because the company does not really care about performance. It is why they are tanking, services eliminated and stock down the drain. Leaders could care less because they already have the cash in their pockets. Mindless leadership, if you can call it that. The real hunger games, no joke.
Super hero was just another stupid bullsh-t excuse, like cash-less Bravo, to get around not paying people what they deserve.
I have been at multiple F10 companies and the idea of super hero instead of promotion tracks or spot bonuses is just crass.

There are few exceptions to this in public orgs, and basically no exceptions in an Indian management structure, which most of Optum now is.
It’s crazy to me that Optum lays off Super Heroes. You guys are the lifeblood of an arcane business. Proven track record of understanding and operating in environments that would baffle other industries’ brainiest people, and they let you go while promoting illiterates to the C-suite.
I was nominated to be a super hero as well and I was laid off, feels like no matter how good of a job I was making they never cared
Agree. As a top performer with 5’s the last several years and Super Hero nominations they do not care! Adios! Relieved to be laid off last month. No longer worried every day if I’m next. Hopefully on to bigger and better! Good luck to all that have been impacted and will be impacted.
