Verizon going to put foot on Business Account Managers

If Verizon converts a majority of its stores to indirect, the company will end up relying even more heavily on corporate business account managers to drive revenue. The problem is they are simultaneously putting increasing pressure on the very people carrying those revenue streams.

From the outside looking in, it feels like Verizon is stretching and stressing the core pieces of the business instead of strengthening them. That is not a sustainable long term strategy, and it is hard to see it ending well for the company if things continue in this direction.

remember strategic 40 accounts?

That was about 8 or 9 years ago.

I wonder if ROSS, MARSHALLS AND TJ MAXX has been added to strategic 40 accounts.

I know Nike is desperate but I wonder if Nike people count above as important accounts.

That is curious

As for the little account that Nike close? will not come back. Anyone with right mind will not open a new brick and mortar store.

Activity Sync

I'm sick of the weekly activity sync bs. Having to log fake calls because my customers don't want to speak on the phone. It's exhausting. I have 30 large customers and if I had to properly follow the metric I'd be constantly calling them to talk about what we don't have or can't sell. Right now they want to know how much will it cost today and how fast can I get it. Is it the same in EMEA & APJ or just mothership bs???

Sales doing everything!

My focus is now about my unachievable target! Sales isn’t about resolving Premier Page issues, customer self serve tickets not being addressed, accounts going on hold due to outstanding invoices. Dell always goes cheap, re-employ staff to free up Sales to Sell. Pretty fu---n simple!

Question for SMB Team | Post Comp Call

I don’t know if I’m gonna last much longer. As a top performing MAE, this new comp plan was rolled out so poorly. On top of all that, the data is beyond dirty.
I have so many accounts that should belong to Micro that roll to me (Duns even says 3 employees on SF record) Accounts that should roll to me that meet my headcount…going to Micro. I have other accounts HQ in completely different cities. One account I had a proposal out to last month is now assigned to Micro.
What in the actual F is going on. Several peers in other markets are just as upset,
Surely this cannot be planned attrition done covertly.
Thoughts?

Plan For Success

Sales org is continuing to lay out PIPs or "Plan For Success" to hide from mass layoff announcements. Really unfortunate timing as my cohort of AE's and Account Directors from April 2025 are getting the short end of the stick. This industry isn't going to turn itself around anytime soon and has a long uphill battle against AI that is a free or minimal spend for clients.

If you receive a PIP, just focus on a new job. PIP = Paid Interview Program

This is exactly FIS

"If your company isn’t keeping up with AI, let me give you the real reason:
You don’t have enough Jacks

You know exactly who “Jack” is:
the builder, the doer, the one who actually ships things while everyone else schedules another meeting to “align.”

But instead of hiring more Jacks, most companies do the opposite:

➡️ They create an “AI Center of Excellence.”
➡️ They hire a “Head of AI Strategy.”
➡️ They add two layers of managers… before writing a single line of code.

And then they wonder why innovation is slower than a Windows XP update….

The truth is simple:

Too much hierarchy ki-ls AI velocity.
Not because people are bad… but because every new manager means extra decks, extra approvals, extra reporting, extra politics and zero extra innovation.

If you have a team of strong senior builders, you don’t need ten managers.
You need to get out of their way and let them build.

This is why startups move at light speed
And enterprises move like they’re being pulled by a tired horse

If you want to win in AI, stop collecting titles…
and start collecting builders"

This could apply at FIS to AI, account management, cio, marketing, commercial management....
FIS keeps firing the builders and doers and adding more CEO minus two level chiefs, each of which then expand their empires and hiring, turf battles, demand more internal reporting....

They are going through our accounts

People are being fired left and right for filing insurance claims from years ago or filing fraud dispute. I just got fired this morning for fraud due to excessive dispute claims (I had 3 in the last 8 years).

Subsequently they went through my login times, when I was in the office, if I was ever low on funds, if I ever had high amount of funds.

All because of a d-mb TikTok shop purchase. They are coming for us.
