Foreign workers

I wonder as an American company if they will be RIFing customer service staff in the Philippines or India? Will they live up to their corporate responsibility to the American worker? Like many companies, they talk but won't live up to their rhetoric. Also, H1B visas. Look around you in IT and other apartments that hire labor other than the American worker

The new World Headquarters is a giant FU to our product development engineering teams

I was there, nearly 10 years ago, when they announced the campus redesign. All of the buildings were outdated and in disrepair. Ford announced a major campus design for it's product development campus: new parking buildings, new buildings, and renovations for every existing building.

Work began, everyone was excited. Then unexpectedly, Billy Ford announces that he had Ford buy a Train Station (ironic). Questions began as to what was going to happen with the campus redesign. We were assured it would still continue and it did; albeit scaled down. Instead of tearing down all of PDC, only some of it would be torn down and instead of a complete campus redesign only one new building (beside car parking lot) would be built on the campus.

Everyone waited patiently for the new PDC building to be built. And that's what we were calling it, the 'new PDC'. Then only a couple of weeks before the building was set to open up. Ford leadership decided that they liked the new building too much to allow it to be just another engineering building and that it would be their new headquarters.

What was wrong with the old World Headquarters? Nothing.

Ask yourself, why didn't they announced that it was going to be the new World Headquarters years ago when the construction first broke ground? Why wait until weeks before opening to announce that it will be the new headquarters?

FU product development, that's why.

Have fun remaining in PDC where the air conditioning doesn't always work. Shout-out to the IT support teams that had to work out of that Atrium. Hopefully they'll let you move into the new building and you won't be subjected to that humid stale air all day.

Your thoughts on IT

IT is a mess. Never seen it this bad. Its even worse than when Eder was here. What are you seeing in your team? We can't get any decisions made. Nothing is getting done. The only thing we see are jobs heading offshore. Getting out as soon as I can.

IT took another beating today….

2 months after the August layoffs another massive RIF focused on flattening the org. Aravind’s org took the brunt this time.

What’s next:
IT managers being flipped to IC being discussed.

Elimination of the IT Sr Director role being discussed

Reduction of H1Bs in IT being discussed

Product Org (under Omar) RIF in December

Consumer Org (under John) RIF in December or January

Srini massive Q1 reorg to align with his vision for T-Mobile

The happy go lucky Mike Sievert days are gone. The dark clouds of working under a sr leadership team mostly picked by the board are here. Think of the Lion King when Scar took over the pride lands, that is what TMUS will be the next couple years.

The entry of Amazon leadership into Walmart is a clandestine initiative aimed at undermining the retail behemoth from within.

Since Amazon's leadership took over Walmart, the first thing they did was undermine the Walmart culture. Furthermore, they have become deeply entrenched, leading to frequent layoffs both in the past and present. No projects are progressing; everything appears to be at a standstill. It seems as though Amazon's board of directors has dispatched these individuals to Walmart as part of a covert operation to dismantle it, rendering Walmart internally ineffective. This strategy appears designed to ensure that Amazon can thrive exclusively in the retail market. The IT department at Walmart has been significantly disrupted for the past couple of years, making it challenging to regain its footing.

Teams Outsourced?

If this forum is a reflection of layoffs, it almost appears IT have been decimated by layoffs much more than other teams. Can I ask which IT teams have definitively been outsourced? Also, which other teams have had meaningful layoffs? Doesn’t seem to be that many outside Operations.

When Will They End This Nightmare?

Am I the only one who's absolutely drained from this whole situation?

Us folks in IT, we’ve been under this pressure for two solid years now. And what they’re doing to us? It’s straight-up inhumane. Imagine watching most of your coworkers walk out the door day after day, and then being told you're ‘safe’ the next. How long are we really safe for, though? The truth? Nobody’s safe ‘til they’ve booted out everyone who doesn’t fit into their ‘perfect’ new structure (aka all the new hires and the so-called ‘Olympus gods’).

It’s obvious the company’s just keeping us around long enough to wrap up some projects, then they’ll drop us like a bad habit once we’re no longer useful.

In the meantime, we’ve had to put everything on hold our career growth, life plans, financial decisions, all frozen for who knows how long. And still counting.

But hey, don’t worry, we’ll get the ‘good news’ soon enough. For now, just keep doing your best (and all the extra work from the people they already canned).

Good job, that’s how you wreck your company culture.

Pro Support. Has that all been outsourced?

I at one time worked in the Pro Support department for a year before I moved tf on from that god aweful job..

But I'm curious with all the layoffs in IT/tech support, is there even a US based Pro support team anymore?

I remember that one of the differences between pro support and pro support PLUS was that with PLUS, you were GUARENTEED to talk with someone in the USA.

11/30 for contractors?

I heard that all contractors currently have 11/30 as the last day for their contract and leadership hasn’t communicated with any of the contracting companies about extensions.

Anyone know if this is management being slow to communicate, or if we’re going to cut all the contractors loose in a month?

Whatever the pros and cons of using contractors instead of hiring FTEs, the reality is there are teams that have a lot of contractors on them (especially in IT) who are going to have trouble absorbing the workload if those people disappear in a month.

I guess that assumes any of us will be here, sure. But setting that aside, is this a de facto layoff or is there some other plan?

Anyone in IT found a new job ?

Full disclosure I’m still here at CVX but I have been on the job search, aggressively i might add, since January. It will be nearly a year soon. Still not 1 offer or even a single final round. Any SWE type people find anything recently? I genuinely don’t know WTH is going on nor what to do anymore.. I have an Ivy League EE degree, 6 YOE, impressive GitHub, i can shoot the sh-t w people, etc…. Plz someone give me hope. I’ve even looked at technical sales or consulting roles and there’s no bites. I’ve expanded my geographies to legitimately every U.S. state and even some European metros. Ive made it to 2nd or 3rd rounds only to be ghosted, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Not a single final round… Doesn’t matter if i had a referral and great convos with the teams. D-mbfounded. I don’t understand. Is it just over for me? Like WTH happened? Anyone else in the same boat ?? I’m losing it yall.
