Chief Claims Officer just left

So...Serafin's departure email just hit. Was in there for less than a year, and just moved to San Antonio. Clyde left a dingle berry of a mess from Op Model AND move to Guidewire. If you objected to the simultaneous switch, you were labeled as "not a team player". But when you watch senior officers leaving on their own, it is acceptable to not be a kool aid drinker. Here we go again with switching gears/strategy as new 'direction' is given. A years worth of work thrown away. Missed family events were for nothing.

You are not doing your job! Cancel your policies.....

For everyone that works for State Farm, you're not doing your job! You have to cancel all your State Farm policies and tell everyone you know how horrible this place is. Especially friends and family. I can't understand why anyone, especially in claims, would ever give a penny to State Farm. Are you blind to see the useless DEI, woke, ethics-less workforce and Executive leadership? This place and its service is pure trash. Yes, I will take their money for a job, while I'm looking for another job, but I will never give them a single dime. I tell anyone I can what this place is, just pure trash! Cancel your policies, and go find another job!

Medical LOA

Writing my “ambitious” goals this past week had me feeling 1000% unqualified and diminished in my job. Like they are asking us to figure out how to make an 8 day work week.
Which got me thinking, how many medical LOAs do you think the bank will see this year? Mental health reasons? I have to believe this number will rise this year based on the mental health downfall many are feeling from all of the impossible pressure. And if that number does in fact rise, what does it take for someone to take notice and take action? (And I don’t mean internal leadership.) I mean an external intervention. Does anyone watch those sorts of claims against a company?

Low Jobless Claims (Jan 2025)

*S Labor Department Reports Jobless Claims Remain Low at 200,000
by MSN News:

US initial jobless claims rose slightly to 200,000 last week. This figure, for the week ended January 17, indicates a labor market with limited layoffs. The four-week moving average of new applications fell to a two-year low of 201,500. Continuing claims also dropped to 1.85 million, the lowest since November. Federal Reserve officials are widely expected to maintain current interest rates next week.

Shame on you Dow

I have heard that Dow is such a mess that they are sending employee overpayments to collections!! The people they eliminate, then over pay a couple hundred dollars. I've watched them overpay suppliers by millions, not pursue claims in the hundred thousands but go after unemployed ex workers for a couple hundred. Shame on you Dow.

AIG Claims is a sweatshop

AIG claims is a complete sweatshop. The senior VP and the VP under him are as toxic. Steer clear. They say they have a commitment to a field claims team and Friday they just announced they're taking all the cars away from the field claims team. How do you say you have a commitment to a field claims team and then take away the cars and not give a car allowance to the field claims team. As soon as the STI bonuses paid at the end of February the entire field claims team is gone.

Providers & Hospitals are Exiting Humana in Mass

Many Providers, Specialists, and Hospitals are exiting being part of Humana’s network and in some cases are outright refusing to accept Medicare Advantage Plans.

This is because they see how difficult Humana, and MA in general, are to work with. Especially in regards to delaying and denying claims and the slowness for which Humana and other MA private companies pay their bills.

The crumbling of the MA infrastructure has already begun. Maybe the mighty companies are not too big to fail…

DOH!

State Farm faces allegations of poor ethics related to claims handling and discriminatory practices, including underpaying claims, delaying payments, and potentially using biased AI algorithms. These issues have led to customer complaints, lawsuits, and formal investigations by state regulators, such as the California Department of Insurance, which is examining the company's claims process for wildfire victims. Critics point to issues like low settlement offers, poor communication, and unjustified demands for information as signs of poor business practices.

Don't listen to them.....follow your heart!

I once had a claim manager tell me my house will be my retirement. I laughed at him and politely walked away. I retired early and got 50 to 60% of the pension. That was well over 10 years ago. Make your own plans. Listen to your heart and never let them control your future. You are in charge of yourself and know claims will take your health. Don't let them do it!

Wanting to come back to State Farm

hi all! i worked auto claims in cityline back in 2016 and would like to come back. i remember having a positive experience working here back in 2016. does anyone know if state farm considers rehires? (please share with me the honest truth....) also, can anyone here pls tell me how its like now working auto claims? i am sure much has changed since 2016. any insight would be much appreciated! :)

9/25 Layoffs

Pre Install CX pros were hit with layoffs this morning, and I’m sure other departments were affected as well. Some really good people were let go. It’s frustrating to see some of the more dedicated employees I’m sure replaced with cheaper offshore labor

Auto Underwriting is sc--wed

We were just told by our TM that personal lines will be over staffed by around 500 by the end of the year. Said people we will either be moved to claims or part of the severance/transition. She told us that they are waiting on upper leadership/HR to decide if we were going to be part of a transition plan. It's only going to get worse as more states go thru mod. I have a feeling the remote folks will be the first to be targeted. I worked in claims 13 years ago when we went through the transition in auto claims. It was awful then and my friends that are still there say it is so misrable that people are quitting daily, out on leave or getting fired. DO NOT take a claims job, you won't make it and will either quit or get fired and miss out on voluntary severance if we have that option. Again people think about it and talk to people in claims, take the severance and run! This place is an absolute total sh-t show!
