My thought is so many of us applied that they couldn't hold up their end of benefits for everyone to depart in Sept. The added dates allow at least one large depart per quarter for a full year! If we quit between now and our separation date - OVER A YEAR FROM NOW (!!!!!!!) they don't have to pay us anything!

Tech Giants Explore Buyouts as Layoff Alternative
Big Tech companies are increasingly considering voluntary buyouts as a more humane approach to workforce reductions. Google employees are advocating for these offers to be a standard first step before layoffs. Microsoft has already implemented a voluntary retirement program with significant uptake. While buyouts can be less damaging to morale, they offer less predictability than traditional layoffs. The shift reflects the growing maturity of tech companies and their aging workforces.

Voluntary redundancy
It won’t ever happen as they know they will have a mass exodus and left with the cr-p. Nice thought but nope won’t ever happen your reviews and the bean counters are the ones going to make the decision.
Anyone ever been given a true promotion as part of a re-org?
What happens if you don’t take it? Is it a laid off situation or voluntarily quit?
I’m hearing this is happening in some pockets of the organization.
Anyone volunteer for RIF? What was your experience like?
I am actively being recruited by other companies and been around 15+yrs. With the rumors about new layoffs getting louder daily, I am trying to figure out if there is a way to volunteer? Has anyone directly asked to be laid off? How did it go?
The code words are "#Layoff #ResourceAction #VoluntaryDeparture #WorkforceReduction". Just let your manager know in your next 1:1.
Dejavu 1993-1999 ex Synopsys employee
This layoff is so-called cleaning house/overlapping functions....happens with mergers/acquisitions. Saw many heads hacked from top to bottom throughout my tenure and left voluntarily after 7 years.....could hear the axe being sharpened again. Turbulent times then....and still today. BUT so glad I moved on to a better/bigger life.
I've already made the decision that I'm leaving Chevron
The only question is how. I'm still here because I'm waiting to see if I can get laid off with a severance package. I don't want to quit and then find out I could have gotten something if I'd just waited a little longer.
I'm getting closer to quitting but I haven't quite reached that point yet
I'm curious for those who have already left, what was it that finally pushed you over the edge? Was there a specific moment, a particular incident, something that just made you say enough? Hearing about other people's experiences might give me the push I need.
Familiar Issues Raised at Google

Among the petition's core demands: a severance guarantee for any worker who is laid off, the option of voluntary departures ahead of any mandatory cuts, the elimination of forced-distribution performance ratings, and the ability for employees to take their severance in the form of extended paid leave.
Would HR take a volunteer ?
I didn’t get laid off this last round. I’m in VCG but not in retail. I was really hoping for a package. Has any one ever attempted to contact HR to see if that was an option? I would rather get some severance instead of just leaving with only a PTO payout.
Voluntary layoff
Is there a way to go above your managers head to be voluntarily laid off? I’m for sure leaving at the end of August regardless without telling anyone but it sure would be nice to get a piece of the severance cake.
Thank you
Voluntary lay off option
Did Synopsys give a voluntary layoff option? I rather take this instead of being here and rob someone else of being here. If I send email to HR will this back fire?
Older & Tenured getting offered severance?
Has anyone heard anything about the older and tenured employees being offered severance if their age + tenure is over 60? I would gladly volunteer to go so that someone younger could keep their position.
Why are so many folks quitting?
Knowing what's coming, knowing they'd most likely be able to leave with a package, why are they so quick to leave? I'm genuinely curious.
All remote workers to be laided off
Former tech manager here. Had dinner with my old boss last night, he's retiring soon so he said he doesn't care if I let the cat out of the bag. Basically if you are remote and choose not to move to a hub, the plan is to fire you during Q4. Jobs will be shifted to USBI or hubs. The only remote employees that will be allowed to stay will require direct approval from the MC so it's out of your boss even your SVP's hands. He said they hope to sc--w you out of your severance too because you're volunteering to leave instead of taking the job offered to you 6 hours away. If you're not moving...start looking. There are still opportunities at other companies that are remote especially for senior or higher roles.
PwC Initiates Voluntary Exits in Audit Division
PwC has implemented targeted voluntary redundancies within its UK audit practice, affecting senior associates and managers. This move follows a trend among Big Four firms to adjust staffing levels due to slower market conditions and reduced employee attrition. The company stated these exits are in areas with low natural turnover to ensure the right skills are available for market opportunities. This action mirrors similar workforce recalibrations at KPMG and Deloitte. The Big Four are collectively rebalancing their workforces after a period of rapid post-pandemic hiring.

Can I volunteer?
I want to tell my manager I'll volunteer for the next round, but I'm worried they'll just stall me instead.
Paid to leave
So nice to get the VTP news on June 15th. There are 26 of us union workers here in Minnesota happily accepting up to 104 weeks voluntary termination pay. This is a totally awesome incentive to retire.

Could they maybe offer a voluntary round?
I know a few people who'd take it happily, and it could save a few of us who really want to stay.
Year-End Layoffs Rumored for December, with Management in Focus
There are persistent rumors circulating that another round of layoffs is planned for the end of the calendar year, with planning expected to begin in September. According to these reports, managers will be the primary target this time around.
Urgent Note for Managers:
Prepare now. If these rumors prove accurate, you have limited time to assess your options. Update your resume, strengthen your professional network, and explore opportunities elsewhere before September.
Additionally, reviews will be artificially deflated to encourage voluntary attrition. This appears to be a deliberate strategy to make the work environment increasingly difficult, pushing people to leave on their own terms. Be aware that negative review scores in the coming months may not reflect your actual performance.
If you're a manager, this is especially critical. Document your achievements and contributions now, and don't let artificially low reviews undermine your confidence or your market value as you explore your next move.
Would you take VR (Up vote for Yes / Down vote for No
I’m curious how many want VR over how many are in bad locations / have no choice or dare I say it happy.

Voluntary Resignation
Now that Uniondale is gone and we're all forced to commute to NYC, who here has been through a voluntary resignation? I'm curious what the process will be. Bc, I'm not voluntarily resigning. You're moving my office. You're forcing me out due to my own personal reasons why I cannot commute to NYC.
Vilunteer for Management Surplus
Anyone know how a management employee can volunteer for a surplus package?
NPR Reduces Employee Count After Buyouts
NPR implemented staff reductions following a round of voluntary buyouts. The total workforce reduction amounts to fewer than 30 employees. Most employees accepted buyouts, but 10 journalists were laid off. The content division saw a cut of approximately 4%. These actions address financial pressures from declining revenues.

Vacation question
I’m thinking about leaving Verizon voluntarily on my own terms. Does PTO get paid out? Not personal time or sick days just the PTO hours?
Can I be laid off? Please?
I really want out of this place, but I don't want to leave empty-handed. I wish they offered a VOB or something like that.
NPR Restructures Newsroom, Offers Buyouts Amid Budget Gap
NPR is reorganizing its newsroom operations. The network is offering buyouts to approximately 300 employees. Layoffs will occur if insufficient staff accept voluntary departures. NPR faces an $8 million budget gap from reduced station fees and federal funding cuts. Recent large donations are primarily dedicated to technological innovation, not operating costs.

employees who "request" layoff
Are going to be treated as voluntary quitting. Resignation, without severance.
New rule effective July 1st.
Management perception is some employees are gaming the severance system. managers are not pushing deadwood out the door fast enough.
protest against layoffs
pls protest against layoff during this bad Ai/ML situation.
pls quit voluntarily if u r able to find opporunity outside and express solidarity with everyone who got impacted
Associated Press Cuts 20 Jobs Amid Restructuring
The Associated Press laid off 20 U.S.-based journalists on Friday. This action is part of a previously announced restructuring plan. The organization is shifting its focus from print to visual journalism and other revenue sources. These layoffs followed buyout offers made to over 120 journalists last month. Approximately 40 staffers accepted the voluntary buyouts.

How much did the voluntary rug people get?
Can anyone confirm what the offers were in voluntary?
Chief Claims Officer just left
So...Serafin's departure email just hit. Was in there for less than a year, and just moved to San Antonio. Clyde left a dingle berry of a mess from Op Model AND move to Guidewire. If you objected to the simultaneous switch, you were labeled as "not a team player". But when you watch senior officers leaving on their own, it is acceptable to not be a kool aid drinker. Here we go again with switching gears/strategy as new 'direction' is given. A years worth of work thrown away. Missed family events were for nothing.
PTO Payout
If I leave Optum voluntarily, do I forfeit all my PTO or do they have to pay out what I accrued? Based in Minnesota.
No layoffs terms in legacy T
So when do you think they will really ramp it up to get people to leave or do you think vtp? Its got to be happening some way
I want to volunteer for layoffs
I'm so tired of this place that I'd happily raise my hand if offered.
