IT Secretly Scans All Laptops for Jiggle Software

Wait until employees find out that IT was directed to remotely scan ALL laptop computers, looking for any software that could be used to appear the user is active online.

Typically used to simulate the mouse is in use, a comprehensive report has been shared with senior management and is now under review for what repercussions will be taken.

Irregardless if there is a legitimate reason for it, i.e attending a marathon online meeting or conducting a presentation and you don’t want your laptop to go to sleep, all those on the report are expected to be in for a big surprise.

Be prepared.

Monitoring Badge Swipes

It finally happened today: my supervisor told me I was on “the list” for not swiping my badge enough.

I pointed out the irony that we’re raising product prices because of higher oil costs, yet somehow there’s never any corresponding increase in cost-of-living adjustments for us peons.

A warning to Mac users: bossware was remotely installed on my machine yesterday.

Yesterday, my computer started lagging and freezing. I use a high performance MacBook Pro, so this was odd. I tried to restart, but I was stopped by a pop-up that said "NexThink" software was being installed and restarting would cause data loss and performance issues. The popup disappeared in less than a second and my computer restarted.

Sure enough, when I checked my task manager logs, a handful of processes from "NexThink" were running, which I'd never seen on my machine before.

I was also one of the Mac users whose in-office time wasn't accounted for in the first quarter. So, while I'm hoping this is a fix to that issue, it seems like it's mostly just employee monitoring software.

Yay WFH..

Just got out of a meeting with team members where one of the seniors alluded to a secret program that only seniors have access to. Even after trying to go into details of what they were referring to, the conversation quickly moved on from it. Why does it feel like they are going to be watching us and monitoring us more now than during Covid?

Productivity tracker

I have not seen a post about the new productivity tracker going on. The first meet had most all principle engineers up and worried as they were told last year to start using AI, create tickets and push releases. After 4 months, they are most categorized as low value to the company. Only few senior engineers had records of commits and massive of features pushed to production.

It's just a say do process. Say we are doing this, assign it to a person, assign to a secondary, do what the ticket says, push the code and close, and repeat.

I am not surprised those principle engineers can even write down what they're going to do or want to do

Just received confirmation that they are now tracking us for 6 hours in office via IP tracking

So that’s why they have that stupid new goal about being present in office or some garbage.

Man, what about those of us that take long and frequent bathroom break because we are old and have fiber and bladder problems??? Every trip to p-e takes over 10 minutes to walk back and forth, and it takes a long time to empty it out because it drops so slowly as a 60 years old.

I am so glad I am retiring this year. I feel horrible for the young folks and all the folks that were hired as WFH and took a lower salary, now have to spend money to commute

Quarterly Reviews

How are your reviews going? Have you been told that you need to increase your productivity? With less people. With no one to make decisions. With product owners not working with the team to guide decisions, not attending meetings, or responding to questions. With a loose roadmap that changes as often as the leadership changes.

And the recommendation by management is to work more hours including nights and weekends. Assume that AI will be the solution to all your problems. Do more in less time with less resources. That is not a request. That is a command. And no, you will not be incentivized to do more.

Don't forget, we expect this from you with no real support from us. We (mgt) are too busy trying to save ourselves with the new executives on the merry-go-round. Our theory is if we can last a year, we are likely to outlive their terms here at Teradata given their work histories.

So hang on. Work like you are fighting for your life, because you are. Do not sleep. Do not have a family. Just do what we tell you, until we change our minds. And if you do all that, you may - or may not- still have a job tomorrow.

Schwab RTO: big brother baby sitting service

RTO is absolute insanity. I have 10 people on my team. None of us are in the same state outside of two people in Texas who aren't in the same city. We have to go back to the office, surrounded by employees we dont work with or collaborate with in any way, so we can join the same remote teams meetings we would while home. Now I find out from someone in cyber security that they are monitoring our key strokes, web searches and Microsoft apps.

RTO was about the executives leveraging their control over one of the few bright spots we had working here, flexibility.

What the heck….they now tracking us 8 hours in office and also terminating people

What a world. The president started a war at his home resort club, meanwhile the bank is going to fire anyone not working 8 hours in office and now they are tracking in office time.

Meanwhile, Mortgage people were given their notice.

What a cold place

What happened to this once great bank

In office + mandatory screen time = conflicting messaging

From we've been told, you need 6.5 hours of activity a day. For an 8 hour day, that works out to 1 hour for lunch, and two 15 minute breaks. But the conflict between in-office and mandatory digital activity is really striking. How can you collaborate and work with colleagues if your screen time is measured and reported on.

Want to visit a colleagues desk or have a chat in a meeting room? Better bring your laptop and move your mouse around or it comes out of your lunch/break time.

Is Wells hosting an employee event? A town hall perhaps? If you go, your digital activity average will suffer. You will need to trade your lunch for it, and hope it doesn't run long - or just stay late to compensate.

Its fun that they have a gym at my office, but if I want to use it, I need to either skip lunch or stay late that day.

So many people leave their workstations unlocked now when they step away to the bathroom or to get coffee, so it doesn't count against them.

Meanwhile, years long colleagues randomly disappear, one after another, never to be seen again.

Living the Wells Life.

New Tracking to Terminate Employees

Forget the LAN/VPN tracking, forget the Presence Report, forget the badge swipes...we are now being tracked on how many Teams meetings we have and are also attending.

Have a Teams meeting with a large group and you and your boss/team all go into a teleconference room? Guess what...make sure to log in to the meeting so you don't get dinged for not participating. L3 and up will begin adding a lot more Teams meetings for things they used to just walk over and ask someone or ping them. This is a new metric for productivity.

What a hellscape being managed by HR re--rds and Re--rd-in-Chief Stankey

8 Hour workday.

It is a complete joke that a company that forces exempt, salaried employees to work 20+ hours of overtime each week. These executives then have the stones to question if we worked 8 hrs???.
Our laptops take an additional 5 minutes to boot up with all the "productivity monitoring crzxp on them. Yet these clueless manager still don't know what we do.
Then to add insult to injury we have to waste at least 30 minutes everyday explaining to clueless "managers" what we did.
Wells fargo has lost class action lawsuits for not paying over time.
I cannot wait until this organization gets fined for violating labor laws.

What do we really know about activity tracking so far?

So many people have been discussing activity tracking (not badge in and out) but what exactly does it entail? Surely it can't just be how many emails you send or read or the time spent on apps?
If I run a script or load a page and it takes, say, a minute, and I don't do anything else in that minute, is that a minute if inactivity?

NICE work station

Got an email about this being installed on computers. We are WFH. Any idea what it actually does? The email was obviously low key but reading between lines seems like it will make sure you're actually doing stuff on your PC? I have no idea really. Sometimes we have downtime at my role, does this mean if I'm not doing something productive like idk reading notes or work files, I'll get in trouble if I step away from PC for a bit?

Activity Monitoring discussion coming from a manager near you.

In case you weren't aware, they're also looking at activity levels-- So now they're expecting you to click and email and teams and what the f**k else they're looking at to complain about you. And naturally nothing has been communicated, you know know how they measure or what they measure.

F this company.

If you think 8 hours is bad, just wait

Someone posted the other day that this site doesn’t have useful information anymore. Well I’m offering up some right here.

I’ve posted before with insights on RTO being delayed, what the original RTO mandate would look like, how time in office is being tracked, and most recently the stricter 8 hour requirement. All before any of it happened. I’m nobody, but I’m uniquely connected to several people in key roles.

If you’re chuffed at the 8 hour mandate, then you’ll really be up in arms when productivity monitoring metrics start being rolled out. And they will be soon. This is already being tested and will be applied to every LOB. Those who say otherwise are either willfully ignorant or deliberate attempting to hide the truth.

Being honest- 8 hrs

Okay, most are not happy about the 8 hours. I have a serious question-- are people really busy 8 hours a day every day? Honestly? My work has highs and lows, sometimes I'm working 10-12+ hours/day, but in the low times I'm working less, and not always 8 to be honest. But I make up for it during the busy times. I don't dont know how I will stay busy for 8 hours a day in the office. Do people just fake it? I'm serious. In my low times, such as now, I reach out to my manager for more work, but she's never really given anything additional. I've been here for 5 years, I do my work well always a meets or exceeds, but I just dont know what to do for 8 straight hours in the office if I'm not busy. Anyone else have the same concerns?

Something is shady here with this 8 hr deal

If they are going to treat exempt staff like hourly employees, threatening to hurt our review and bonus, i want my overpay time pay, i work weekends and sometimes 10 hr days. If they in anyway try and threaten us i would demand to see the data, for us compared to others. I don't know what WF Legal is thinking following directions from Bridget Engle, she doesn't even have a college degree. Their legal team better be ready because there's some hungry down and dirty lawyers who would LOVE to sue the living day lights out of this place and i will be calling them up if i'm in anyway shape or form impacted by some stupid 8 hr rule.

IN OFFICE HOURS REQUIREMENT - CIC

Ok, what is the deal with the in office hours tracking? I’m hearing it’s based on badge swipes, connecting to the network.

Can anyone in management enlighten me what they’re looking at? Is it 4 hours, 5 hours?

Apparently there is some reporting but no one has seen it so we don’t even think it exists. I need someone who really knows what’s going on to shed some light on this please!

Facial authentication coming soon.

Just got back from Dreamforce conference in San Francisco. Some of our technology execs were there. New tracking software and authentication software will be rolling out soon. In a nutshell, every device we use for work will have tracking and timestamping abilities.
Don’t get me started with how they’ll be using AI in the company.

PC activity tracking

many companies do this but ADP has always been built on trust and results in the years i’ve been there
However they are now testing pc activity tracking tools to measure how active you are and to determine if you’re active enough.
such a shame that they don’t want trust their employees based on deliverables and are now exploring pc activity to measure your value.

How tomes have changed!
