Estée Lauder Plans Up To 10,000 Job Eliminations

The Estée Lauder Companies increased its planned job cuts. It now plans to eliminate 9,000 to 10,000 positions. This is an increase from the earlier estimate of 5,800 to 7,000 roles. Over 70% of these additional cuts affect point-of-sale demonstration roles. These reductions are part of a shift towards high-growth channels.

6 weeks since my 2/19 Job Elimination

So like many I was impacted by the JEs that took place on 2/19. I had been at Cigna for my entire career which got me the full 52 weeks of severance plus the 9 weeks notification period. It’s been 6 weeks since that eventful day and I must say it has been an amazing break from the grind. I have been getting tons of sleep while also being able to clear my head and actually sit back, relax and enjoy my kids for the first time in forever. I’m glad to report that I did just accept an offer at one of Cigna’s competitors starting on 4/13 and making about 10% more than I did at Cigna. I plan on savoring the last week before going back to the grind and looking forward to Cigna paying out my last 3 weeks of the notification period plus the 52 weeks of severance. If all goes well I will be getting paid by my new employer while Cigna pays, this will allow me to collect double salary for the next 54 weeks. I’m writing just to let people know that there is life at Cigna and it can end up being a big mental health and financial win for you!

"Job eliminated" in 2024, and NOW they want my laptop

My position was eliminated 4th quarter 2024. I did get the 401K match and whatever that fancy word they call severance now, but no bonus, which apparently I could have fought for, but didn't. I was WFH because my location no longer had an office. They never asked for my equipment (laptop) back. As a former manager, I'm familiar with the guys in that department and was awaiting an email or letter but none came. Today, over a year later, I get an email from some poor guy "tasked" to retrieve my equipment, asking me for my address so they can send the box. That laptop is already past the three-year mark of when people upgrade anyway. Yes, I still have it, sitting in a closet, and I know it's petty to not cooperate, but I feel petty. Anyone else been asked for it after a year gone?

Devastating

Very sorry to the many, many people whose jobs were eliminated today. It is sad and shocking and I hope Cigna provides a decent severance for all.

Pearson Vue is not the same

I was a former employee of 35 years at Pearson Vue. I too was let go on the 12th. I gave all my loyal and dedication to this company for a lot of time. I was mortified when I found out that my job had been eliminated due to it being outsourced to India. This will fail as everything else will fail because everybody is just a $to them. This is not the company that I show loyalty to for all the years so I’m OK with leaving as I did knowing that I put my best effort forward. They let a lot of good people that dedicated all their time to helping Pearson be what it is today. So sad. They were so sneaky about how they did the layoffs. Some people still don’t know the total number of employees who were let go. Most of the people who I am aware of were here 15 plus years.

Early Warning

Managers in design centre are prepping for job cuts. Design usually runs lean, and misses the cuts happening in the rest of the company. If this is correct, GM is in trouble. Design has been told in the past that if studios are cutting there are issues coming.

Shame on you Dow

I have heard that Dow is such a mess that they are sending employee overpayments to collections!! The people they eliminate, then over pay a couple hundred dollars. I've watched them overpay suppliers by millions, not pursue claims in the hundred thousands but go after unemployed ex workers for a couple hundred. Shame on you Dow.

AT&T closing Ashland, KY call center effective 3/8/26

The center opened back in 2001 when Cingular owned it. Continued on after the merger with Advanced Technical Support up until 2020 when it became MSS. I got hired in 2015 and the company had around 260,000 employees. I think we're down to 140,000. At the end it's been tough with the demanding sales tactics. In December of 2024 the governor of Kentucky visited the site to highlight 115 new full time jobs. A year later and the place is closing.

I think we were whittled down to 80-100 employees. Severance or take WFH positions. I've been with the company 11 years and taking the money.

No agua an El Segundo = No RTO

Even the plumbing gods hate RTO. El Segundo office closed today due to no running water. Hopefully the rain expected this weekend will make for a nice long, slow repair process. Doubt it but it would be nice. Great to be to work without distractions and a pointless commute even if it’s only for a day or two.

This is more than employees being riffed

This round is employees. Next round The Company is literally eliminating groups. Any business that's been struggling to make money is gone. They make no money in advertising because yahoo was a failure, they make no money in fleet, no money in video they failed at TV and the streaming business, no money in international business, no money in cyber security, no money in government contracts

Dan is focused on being a wireless phone company with hopes of AI bringing new ideas to the table. The old ideas are going to be eliminated

F&B Impacts Theory

I have no insider knowledge, this is just my theory for what could happen on Tuesday:

F&B reports up separately from other pyramids for pretty much every function (Merch/Planning, IM, Store Ops, etc.). Eliminating that separate reporting structure could remove some duplication of work and a lot of middle managers. For example, Food Supply Chain would be absorbed into what’s left of GSCL.

Thoughts?

If 88 layoffs in Finland, than I wonder how many in USA and how many around the world?

Architect role ...needs to be eliminated !!!

I need to be blunt about the architecture team. They are overwhelmingly ineffective. Their performance is an embarrassment for what they're paid. They consistently demonstrate a profound inability to grasp practical constraints, rendering their input in meetings not just useless, but actively detrimental. As GCL, I view interfacing with them as a waste of my team's time and the company's money.

Top earners & folks getting close to their 20-year pension

They say they’re eliminating positions, but over the past 16 months, it’s become clear that long-tenured employees—especially those close to 20 years of service and eligible for pensions—are being systematically let go. Higher-paid leaders have also been removed. There seems to be a clear trend of replacing experienced, older employees with younger, less experienced hires who cost less. The current leadership has created a toxic environment, and the company appears to be in decline.
