Senior Director: Its not about performance that we lay you off.
Me: ok.....
Senior Director: Is there anything we can help you?
Me: Yes, don't lay me off...... (I just be nice and didn't say that)

After 20 years..... this is the conversation i got. Its so fake and insincere.....

Pleasanton Council Dismisses Manager, Halts Job Cuts

Pleasanton City Council recently reviewed the city's financial health. Financial advisors warned of a potential downward shift in conditions. The council halted a plan to eliminate 16 city positions. Predict Shell’s CEO’s eventual layoff

What triggers and when will Shell nominate a new CEO?

An oil industry CEO is typically fired when they fail to balance the "iron triangle" of shareholder returns, operational discipline, and strategic pivots.

Common Triggers for Dismissal:

Capital Indiscipline: Overspending on new drilling or expensive mergers that don't immediately boost the share price.

Activist Pressure: Investment groups (like Elliott Management) demanding a return to "traditional" business models and simpler corporate structures.

Safety or Environmental Scandals: Major leaks or safety failures that result in crippling fines and "brand-ki-ling" headlines.

Operational Stagnation: Falling behind competitors in integrating new technologies.

Dear Doug

I really hope you read this.

Eff you! We are better off without. Take your money and go hide your face. You are a failure and always have been. You gaslight the rest of these clowns into thinking you were some EV god but the rest of us knew from day one you were a joke. How you bamboozled Ford leadership into thinking we could take a bunch of rejects and failures from Apple and Tesla and build a successful will be a mystery but now if we can only get rid of the rest of the your lackeys and your “20x” skunkworks team.

Go eff yourself with a J1772 connector.

Goodbye growth

I can confirm random dismissals without consideration of overall performance or necessity for the company. More than 100 employees are on the final list across all departments.

Goodbye growth! I think that, regardless of the consequences, the wrong horse is being backed here and core competencies are being neglected in the long term.

If someone is removed from the address book (e-mail), they are gone for good- right?

We had a guy all of a sudden “leave” our group. We all think he was either fired or laid off but our boss says he will be out “X amount of weeks.” No one believe him. I have been with the bank over 20 years and never heard of someone removed from the system and then put back in when they come back—?! Comments?

Re-org at Strategy & Transformation. Head of UX Design dismissed!

Head of UX Design at Strategy & Transformation was dismissed this week. Role terminated immediately. He clearly won’t be missed considering his reputation and poor legacy. What other senior roles at S&T were impacted this week?

Wrongful dismissal?

From a Google search :

Wrongful Termination: Companies cannot lay off an employee in a specific position and immediately hire a new person to fill that exact same role domestically without risking a wrongful termination lawsuit. However, replacing the position with an offshore role is generally considered a valid business decision.

Would this qualify for anyone who holds a position that will remain and then gets "kicked out" by another person? Would this qualify as grounds for wrongful dismmisal as the company didn't actually downsize or move out that role?

Nokia's Polish branch refuses to recognize a legal trade union. A pattern of union busting that betrays Finland's democratic labor values

" Zwiazkowa Nowoczesna is a legally registered trade union founded in 2024 at Nokia Solutions & Networks Poland. From the very beginning, Nokia's local management has employed tactics directly drawn from the classic union busting playbook: refusing to communicate, denying legal status, and obstructing any form of dialogue with employees. These are not isolated missteps—they form a pattern, suggesting intent rather than confusion.
Recently, Nokia Poland reiterated in an official letter that “your trade union does not exist for us,” despite receiving multiple formal notifications required by Polish law regarding our activity and membership. This position is blatantly illegal. According to Poland's Trade Union Act, employers must recognize and communicate with every duly formed trade union, regardless of size. There are no legal grounds for denying recognition of our existence, and doing so constitutes a violation of fundamental labor rights protected both by national and EU law.

This conduct reveals bad faith. It shows that Nokia is not merely misunderstanding Polish legal standards—it is consciously disregarding them. Such behavior would be unthinkable in Finland, a country where trade unions helped shape the very foundations of the modern welfare state and social economy. The contrast is striking: a Finnish company that thrives within a strong system of social dialogue now exports authoritarian labor practices to Central and Eastern Europe."
