PMP

Wrapped up my PMP review before submitting and the writing is on the wall: no promotions, and “exceeds” ratings are being restricted so tightly they’re basically unattainable. Add in the latest S&T message from the tantrum-thrower/demotivator himself, DM, and it’s pretty clear that career mobility at Chevron is dead for the foreseeable future.

Here’s the part that really gets me:
The people now sitting comfortably in higher roles and PSG levels are the same ones who climbed paths they’ve now completely demolished for everyone coming after them. The folks being lined up as “next in line” are being chosen based on experience tied to work that doesn’t even exist in the U.S. anymore. And the ones at the very top — secure in their ivory towers, swimming in cash like Scrooge McDuck — look down and tell everyone else to “work harder” while setting performance bars miles above anything they themselves ever met.

And before anyone says it: yes, I know — “If you don’t like it, leave.”
I’m working on it. I have interviews lined up. Chevron might still want me, but I’m not sure I want Chevron anymore

The board and hatchet a$$

They watched the company being burned to the ground and really didn't care.

They watched the arrogance about a superior network permeate almost the entire company, to the detriment of sales.

They really could give a sh$$ about the employees. They just want their bod fees and options.

They'll do anything for a short term stock pump, even if it means sacrificing people and destroying lives. Here's a clue, less revenue, less customers, less support, less of everything, including the stock price.

They really don't know anything about the actual business, but they're bringing in somebody who's been watching this burn for 7 years and because he was at virgin mobile and is tied in with the AI world he'll know what to do.

Hatchet a$$ can tell jokes, act like he's some cowboy, talk b.s. about how this was needed (he's responsible) and really not care about how many lives he's absolutely destroyed, all he cares about is the millions he continues to make.

They okayed mass layoffs on conference calls, they okayed destroying entire organizations, they talk about customer service but let key people be thrown away, I'm sure those customers are really happy about it (they're not.)

Some people being forced out thank the company for blah, blah, blah, heck to that, F$$$ the board, F$$$ hatchet, and F$$$ anybody who's talking about so-called survivor's guilt; that's a bunch of b.s. and shows what a huge hypocrite and a$$hole you really are, you still have a job (for now.)

F$$$ the board, hatchet, and all those mo--n's who think this is a good thing, it's really not.

Free Bird Here

I see nothing has changed at the Great Blue Monster. Check in here occasionally to find out how many lives they are wrecking this year.

Was caught up in 2022 layoff at PEP after 15 years when my department was offshored.

The last 3.5 years are the best I've had since before I started at PEP.

Feel for those still stuck at that soul crushing company. Much better companies out there to work for.

Wishing you all health, wealth, and happiness.

Locusts, locusts everywhere.....

Been with WF for a looooong time. And I have to say, this is the worst nepotism I've ever seen. Its true. And for those of us who have been around as long as I, we might have gotten one or two back in the day. Soon, they were acclimated to WF and we, the worker bees, never really saw a difference.
Now? Holy cow, they move in, fire existing technical staff, bring in their buddies and replace everyone over a period of time.
I liken it to locusts...they move as a group, strip the ground bare of anything good, then move on to the next green pasture.

I've heard enough....

From folks who say, "The company doesn't have to give severance..." or "other companies do much less....".
What EFFIN BS.
Yes, WF HAS to provide severance. They have to abide by the employee handbook which they have published. For all you mo--ns out there who think WF is going above and beyond....LMAO! You are d-mber than a bunch of rocks!
WF HAS to abide by what they have committed to in their publications.
Yes, they can change it. But that will take time. They'll have communicate it, have to allow time for it to become policy. Even then, there will be challenges. Likely - as WF is wont to do, they'll sc--w some simply due to bad management or personal grievances. But, overall, any changes in policy will take time and have to be announced well in advance.
So to those of you who say, OH! But they are so awesome, they give sooooo much in severance!
I say to you, what a bunch of buffoons. You su-k. Totally and literally. Get a grip. WF only gives severance to shut folks up after a long tenure, then pittances for them. Why doesn't anyone talk about the employment contracts Sr. Executives get? With guaranteed bonus, guaranteed retirement, guaranteed yearly increases (based on actual, things that are written down)?
Yep, what a bunch of losers that decry what we, the workers complain about. We, the workers - are due MORE. MORE than what we are getting when we are thrown to the curb!!!
Just saying, had to get that off my chest. OK everyone, go back to your bingo games.....LOLOLOL

The Emperor’s New Clothes

Sure Dan thinks he’s telling us all these revelatory truths but we all knew what he was saying was true years ago. There’s a significant proportion of the company whose goals are aligned to saying “No” or “It’s not me”. Trying to get anything done, or anything fixed is a complete pain in the a**

Silo management just blocks progress and every VP and SD are responsible for that

Time of year for glad-handing and back slapping

just love seeing all the Linkedin posting of the various groups getting together for "end of year" celebrations , congratulating each other on such a great year, in the midst of continual layoffs. Still see Kate talking about "shaking" up industry..... hard to do that when you continue to lose money. Also good to see KJ, Stansbury, Tzetiel and some of the other higher ups reflect on a "job well done" and talking about all in, while the "no more" Lumen humans that were cut loose wonder how they will get through the holidays .... only real winner in all this is Brene' Brown, who continues to get rich off the company.

I've never seen a company with so many layers of useless tooling.

Each engineering department or BU has eighteen different layers of tooling, and within the BU there's another layer of tooling. There's 25 layers of instructions that only someone from their respective department would know God forbid you need to collaborate. Nothing is cohesive, I need fifteen MFA apps to traverse layer after layer to do 1% of my work. No wonder it takes forever for Cisco to fix things.

Verizon is a Gold-level Military Friendly Employer CROCK...Was at one time but not now

Facts from this VZ Vet (Yes, service connected disabilities)

  1. They gave us choice of Veteran VZ t-shirts this November to thank us for our service
  2. The Team gave me a nice physical card (Not AI or virtual) thanking me for my service on V Day. Very thoughtful
  3. 8 days later got the call...Sayonara...kick in the teeth is the December 19th off payroll. I guess we needed the funds from my HUGE salary for the Swede we didn't need 40M and the other two 4M to "stay on" LOL. Merry Xmas
AI Search "Reasons Verizon is good for hiring disabled veterans:
Military-friendly recognition: Verizon is a Gold-level Military Friendly Employer, recognized for its commitment to hiring, retaining, and advancing veterans."

Are you planning on joining the employee stock purchase program?

I am interested in whether people are thinking of joining up.

My thoughts are that the company doesn’t feel very stable, the morale is low and I’m not really sure if growing the company is the real long term plan of our leadership. I still believe that we will be broken up and sold off.

So, I was wondering if I’m an outlier here and if others are feeling more optimistic about Solventum’s future.
