Stankey = Irony

John Stankey built his entire career on exactly the kind of institutional loyalty he now tells 130,000 people is dead.

He joined Pacific Bell in 1985 straight out of college. He has never meaningfully worked anywhere else — Pacific Bell became SBC, SBC acquired AT&T, and he climbed every rung of the same organizational ladder for 40 years without ever having to compete in an open market for a job.

He didn't get to CEO by being market-based. He got there by being loyal, patient, politically savvy, and present for four decades in the same building. He is the living embodiment of boomer corporate loyalty — and he abolished it the moment he reached the top.

That is not irony.

That is a specific kind of moral corruption that comes from people who pull the ladder up behind them.

Covenant House irony

I find it ironic that Cisco who’s known for layoffs has these sales leaders who are well off preaching about supporting the homeless when they directly contribute to the issue. Many people who get laid off have families and houses and losing their livelihoods can directly impact their ability to provide for their families and potentially lose their means of shelter. Look the mission is great but doing this at a company like Cisco feels tone deaf

From CARGILL Careers Page - What a JOKE

"At Cargill, everyone matters and everyone counts. Cargill is committed to creating and sustaining an inclusive and diverse work environment where all employees are treated with dignity and respect"

There was NO dignity and certainly ZERO respect when I was laid off. I was ghosted by my manager and treated by the company, colleagues like I'd been fired for cause.

1- Jobs in THIS layoff cycle went to India, not China. They are cheaper, but not better. Customers will be the ones to suffer.
2- XR Manufacturing has also moved to Mexico. Another disaster.
3- President Jyoti Gupta was recently highlighted by the Wisconsin Economic Development (WEDC.com) ... a week before she eliminated jobs. #irony

And the US still plans to bring over 85K+ new H1B immigrants this year. We are now in a phase where people who have been in the US for years on H1B are getting replaced by fresh H1B visa holders... #irony

It seems odd that the unions are against mandatory vaccinations when the party they support on The Hill is the party that's been spouting off about mandates being a good thing and everyone should just be good little guinea pigs.

Welcome to day one of the aftermath. Leadership expects everything to work exactly like it used to as they let go of people they had no idea of their job. Those left have to take on even more tasks, and try and figure things out the best we can. Oh yeah and forget IT support for any problems they just tell you to get in line behind the pile of issues they are working or the person that knew how to fix that is gone. But hey, let’s start a new project because some people don’t have enough to do. Mgmt won’t lift a finger to try and help. But hey we still have jobs posted?!? Don’t they know how we got into this mess. Those let go we’re paid their full bonus. We won’t get close,do to our high performers soaking it all up. Bet we get less than the below expectations people let go. #irony #surviving #notsurewhoisbetteroff
