For those who get laid off, what's stopping one to just not return their computer/phone?

If I were to be laid off, I'd return them but unwillingly. I have 2 systems from Dell, a corporate phone, and a few other items issued to me. I know for a fact that Dell can simply de-activate your machine's access to VPN's and such and it wouldn't exactly be difficult to wipe the computer clean and start fresh, if you wanted to.

The two systems I have are likely worth a combined $1100 at MOST. The phone is an iphone 10x, which obviously would have it's service cut but, you could theoretically put service onto it yourself (out of your pocket.) That phone is worth maybe 150.. The other device I have is worth closer to 1k I think and is the only thing I'd want to keep if possible. I'd say only about 100 people in the entire company have this device. I'd tell you what it is but I'd give myself away as to what org I'm in and what department I'm in..

But, what if a laid off person was to just not return their computer, badge, etc...?

Same ol same ol from Clueless Chuckles and Fake Franny

“I don’t want to get rid of a bunch of people right now,” Robbins told CNBC last week, stressing that AI was meant to boost productivity, not reduce headcount. “I just want our engineers that we have today to innovate faster and be more productive. That gives us a competitive advantage.”

If there's no stability anymore, what's the point of staying at Oracle?

This is the demonstration that an employee working for a conglomerate like this count less than nothing, it’s just a record in a database, no matter is performance, pretty sad and cold given the myriad of talented people. I hope someone at top level reads this, but Oracle is well known for being a stable company with less than average salaries. People genuinely made this trade off, if stability is not the case anymore then why staying in Oracle. I know this would count less than nothing, but a bit of transparency is somehow due to the hard work!

Bumping this up for visibility. OP: @bk+1k2xjqvcz

This info I from several posters on LinkedIn:
Splunk and General Engineers, Product Data Scientists at Duo, Webex- Product, Engineering and Customer Experience.

👉Webex losing ground to Microsoft Teams. Integration Challenges with Sp--k. These two units are described as Death Spiral.

👉Severance is Reportedly Minimal for those with less than 10 years of Service.

Intel is laying off 24,000 employees and retreating from some countries

Intel says it will retreat from planned projects in Germany and Poland, end its assembly and test operations in Costa Rica, and finish 2025 with just around 75,000 “core employees” in total.

Intel employed 109,800 people at the end of 2024, of which 99,500 were “core employees,” so the company is pushing out around 24,000 people this year — shrinking Intel by roughly one-quarter.

Did you know? Tech Support

I don’t know how many of you sell any client systems with ProSupport but nearly all of US support has been moved to Panama and Costa Rica. The only reason there’s any US agents left is because of Federal contracts but I’m sure they’ll find a way around that. Feels like deceptive marketing but they changed it to say ‘In region’ now.

I’ve also had some sales agents contact me about exchanges. You can’t get a system exchange if you receive a dead unit within the first 30 days. They have to go to care (good luck) or get a service call before even being considered. The goal is no exchanges at all even when warranted. They did a ‘cost of dsat’ analysis and determined it wasn’t worth a good survey to spend the money on it.

I feel powerless at trying to ‘save the sale’ from tech support sometimes because of our stupid processes.

Just random tech support venting. AMA

Cut Geo Tech Teams

What a waste, especially Emea. They don’t solve issues, just whine to global support to fix small things they think are causing the sky to fall. No big picture perspective and too much bloat in leadership. Zero value unless you consider getting your day bummed with their snooty, bi--hy attitude and low IQ threats to escalate their single minded woes to leadership enjoyable.

200 IT Layoffs this week

Yesterday almost 200 people globally in Cargill Global IT (Now called DT&D Digital Technology & Data) were laid off. This included early career / first/second year employees as well. The goal is to replace them with DEI workers out of Atlanta or India/Costa Rica and by lowering the standards on job postings in order to obtain them.

They are more than 2 years into Jennifer Hartsock's tenure as CIO / CIDO and almost every conceivable metric has gotten significantly worse, as a once great place to work has done a complete 180. My guess is her and her leadership team may not be around for much longer.

@1isi+1qvFITBk

So I guess what you are saying is the CEO, annddd BOD have been lying to shareholders AGAIN? Didn’t they already get in trouble for this and fined. You lie lie lie!
How does Shart’s sphincter smell ya brown nose. Are you here to stroke an inefficient CEO’s ego and spread disinformation. If the focus has changed then shareholders and regulators need to be informed and approved. If what you say is true LOL, there is a very large paper trail and recordings stating that his #1 primary focus is to bring “wells fargo’s risk and control environment into compliance”. Regulators would never approve anything you say until those problems are addressed. Don’t you have a blumpkin that you should be attending to?

Either way, THE SCHART IS INEFFICIENT, OVERPAID, AND HAS REPEATEDLY FAILED. If you think that success is equivalent to being fined multi-billion dollar fines then yiu nuat be the Shartman himself or some minion ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE SOME FALSE NARRATIVE THAT DEMONSTRATES THAT THE Schart, AND THE BOD HAVE BEEN LYING TO, SHAREHOLDERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AMERICA!

Aren’t they being sued by a convent of nuns who are also inventors and have accused the CEO of this exact scenario.

Wrong people making decisions

When did we become a tech company that is not led by innovation but entirely by what is deemed acceptable by our accounting department? They are the ones who make all the important decisions here and it's becoming more blatantly obvious day in day out in our results. Nobody is thinking about future profits, just what we can get right here, right now. It's very annoying that people who know nothing about our core business can wield this much power.
