Is Mr. "Everything's Computer!" really just that much smarter than all the Intel PhD's, MBA's and "Rockstars" combined? These so called businessmen were all scrapping Intel for parts when Trump basically handed them their as--s and said "You are going to make computer chips like you are supposed to or go to jail." Now Intel is at ATH in less than a year. I guess he really is a VERY STABLE GENIUS and everyone one working at Intel owes him a giant debt of gratitude.
LA Semiconductor facility experienced layoffs. These layoffs are the first wave. The facility is located in Pocatello. The job reductions have begun. Specific details about the layoffs are not available.

Why are there so many layoffs ?
"Most Android phones run on chips from Qualcomm or MediaTek. Xiaomi wants to change that, at least for its own devices."
"The XRing O1... built on TSMC’s 3nm process and holds its own against Snapdragon ... ".

The only one that's flourishing is Intel. At least we're the best at something, I guess.
Apparently Intel is not following high NA anymore. What a waste of 300m$ equipments
So we’ve got that going for us

"Our future is not in the print industry but in semiconductors".
Kind of saying the quiet part out loud there.
JP claims that Cisco silicon in a head by 2 years vs. Broadcom and Nvidia. Any thoughts?

Thank you President Trump!
Intel initially disclosed 669 Oregon layoffs in November 2025. By January 2026, that number jumped to 2,392 workers – nearly 5x the original count. Combined with earlier cuts, Intel is eliminating over 3,000 Oregon jobs, representing roughly 20% of its 20,000-person workforce in the state.

We won't know if the guppy will lay eggs and populate the tank until 2027.
There is a chance the guppy will bring in its bigger brother, the whale.
Even if it works out, let's see if the higher US production costs scare away the whale.
Don't sc--w it up!
Or is this just a political donation?

so many positive news lately
people in my office were laid off yesterday. Anyone else?
Intel’s workforce:
That is what chatGPT told me. Ansys never had a mass layoff but Synopsys did a few times in the last a few year.
The merge was good initially if you sold all of your Stocks a few days after the merge. Otherwise, you lost 30% minimal.
profit and layoffs. nice company
If that’s the case, good luck to all of us.
This is the best scenario for a turnaround.
I’m concerned that the current CIO may not have the depth of experience required for a large semiconductor manufacturing company. His background at PagerDuty, while relevant in a different context, does not clearly demonstrate the capability to lead in this type of environment. I would encourage a review of this appointment and the criteria used in making it.

The manufacturing landscape will experience paradigm shifts as Elon makes moves that are incomprehensible from your narrowly defined viewpoints
Analog Devices + Maxim Merger (Closed: August 2021)
✅ Total Layoffs: ~1,800 – 2,000 employees globally
This reduction came from both Analog Devices (ADI) and Maxim Integrated as part of the post-merger integration.
✅ Types of Jobs Impacted
These are always the first cuts in semiconductor mergers:
Human Resources (HR)
Finance
Sales administration
Procurement
Information Technology (IT)
Corporate functions that overlapped between ADI and Maxim
Maxim had:
PMIC (Power Management ICs)
Battery charger ICs
Serial interface products
Automotive ICs
Sensor products
ADI already had large, established groups in these same categories → redundant orgs and product teams.
After the merger, multiple smaller Maxim design centers were shut down, including:
Some Dallas groups
Selected Asia-based design teams
These were consolidated into ADI’s larger R&D hubs.
✅ Layoff Timeline
2020–2021:
Deal announcement
Planning for integration
Q4 2021:
ADI officially begins structuring the combined organization
First waves of integration layoffs
2022 (Peak Layoff Year):
Heaviest job cuts
Consolidation of overlapping business units
Closure of duplicated design sites
Corporate restructuring
2023:
Final “synergy cleanup” layoffs
Optimization of product lines
Rationalization of sites and teams
Total integration timeline: ~24 months

Wonder how much more bad news is out there now that Rick is out. Doesn’t instill confidence and I wish that we at Ansys were not acquired.
I suspect the initial set of layoffs will happen tomorrow now that we have an all hands call tomorrow.
I am old. I have worked at Micron for 25 years as an engineer and i am american. They never let me go. I badge in and badge out. i think its bad workers who get let go and use age as an excuse
big layoff in Boise today. Many supporting the Micron and Photronics toolbase were cut loose....
