TCS , the named outsourcing for the core IT infrastructure teams at Lyondebasell, in an effort to reduce cost due to a CEO thats has shamelessly destroyed a vibrant company with unneeded loans, closed plants and a business model that is ridiculously unsubstantiated, has proven during a "transition" period, to going to cost more jobs, less productivity, poor service, and downtime. This Indian based company is typical of a CEO, CFO, CTO and certain directors that have little to no knowledge of IT outside of the buzzwords they learn on Google. The dumpster fire that is management has reduced a prosperous company and great place to work to a steaming pile save-my-a-s ELTs and SVPs with below sub-par entry level at best outsource contractors.

How Many Q Managers Are Now Realizing They Will Never Be Managers Again
Indeed, Zip Recruiter, LinkedIn, Monster! Keep applying the reality will hit soon. No transferable skills. No keeping current. Just gliding along. Thinking it would last forever. Enjoy those checks while they come in. The merger may be in 2027, but they arent going to merge the whole wagon and then start evaluating cuts. Skyworks is not paying out severance packages. Clear that noise from any future considerations. And if you live in one of those places with no semiconductor companies around, well I guess there is always coding like Joe said! Karma for every poor soul that got su-kered into working for the failed merger of RFMD and Triquint and lost their positions due to poor business management!
Today's Mini Rant: TO ALL MANAGERS (AND UP)
Start by listening, because -- "newsflash" -- you probably know less than the team you just inherited, so ask questions, find the real blockers, and do your actual job.
Also, stop hogging credit when things go right and then unloading blame when they do not. Happens all the time. Stop now... that routine is stale.
Keep micromanaging and you get 0 loyalty on day one, act professional if you want professional output... treat me lke a child and you will get the bare minimum.. your choice.
If you are a corporate climber (probably are) using us as a rung, expect minimum effort from me in return... no tip, no extra mile.
Respect is not a free perk of your title, the bigger the title the harder you have to work to earn it, and since I cycle through a new manager every 12 mo, you are on probation until you prove otherwise.
stop the pointless mtgs that could be an email and stop spamming me on chat, that noise is not productivity.
Say AI like it is magic fairy dust and you owe the swear jar, pay up unless you bring budget and real use cases.
And cut the passive aggressive nonsense where everything is fine all year and then at review time I am suddenly the worst employee in history, give straight feedback when it matters or save the performance theater for someone who buys tickets.
So, in summary...
Ally Financial had layoffs today, impacting about 2% of employees as part of workforce consolidation and process optimization (oh, this sounds so official). Ally is shifting teams and focus... it's reorganizing its structure let's say they are seeking "efficiencies". The comms are out - I know some in Charlotte were among those affected.
The cuts are mostly concentrated in upper and middle management w/managers + above most impacted, they hammered folks with no dir reports (or low # of dir reports). Some folks claim that that some groups began seeing cuts on Halloween Friday, but that has not been confirm and most folks did not hear about it...
Last Friday someone spilled the beans ahead of time, see @OP+1k8x5qazb and pretty much was 100% on target.
This round of layoffs is now over, you can go to your cube and relax until the next layoff event which is certainly almost behind the corner.
Good luck all.
I want to be a manager at Intel
What should I learn and study to get a job there?
too many pretenders
When a wire line first liner is out for a week his counterparts cover two gangs nothing ever happens ...and the work gets covered.. when a second liner is out for a week and they have somebody covering both areas nothing ever happens and the work gets done... How can this guy not see that he has twice as many people as he needs in wireline.
Where is the after Wayday call volume?
Anyone else concerned that upper management will use all this green time between calls as an excuse to prove are roles are no longer needed?
I can't understand why they're still implementing mandatory overtime and voluntary overtime when MC is hardly getting calls.
Front line is also being directed not to call us with this red light signal. It all seems very strange for a company this large.
Your experience/education is of no value here!!!
Your experience and education are of no value here. All you are is an employee ID# and a salary on someone's spread sheet.
When mgt feels they can hire someone cheaper you get laid off. It is just about dollars.
Finally Posting - New Directive
I’ve resisted posting on here, but I feel the need to. I’m in a Management position, but not giving specifics out of fear. My Leader gave me a directive on Friday to prepare for the big Q1 WFR list. Here it is. We have to try to avoid cutting H1B people because we uprooted their lives to move them here, so we can’t leave them stranded. So I guess they feel it’s OK to uproot talented Americans’ lives instead of getting rid of cheap, inferior workers. Total BS!
What will happen if i don’t acknowledge my year end review?
So I was hoping to get promoted since last year, my manager is horrible and did not promote last year and gave me hope for this year with extra work. I did everything and beyond this year but my manager still rated me met expectations and said no scope for promotion this year. I dont agree with it and want to go to my Director or MD. What will happen if i donot acknowledge my met expectations review? Will i not get performance bonus also?
Target needs to look in the mirror
I am recently retired from your largest competitor (you can figure that out) after 40 years that saw our company go from the Stone Age to the dominant retailer in the World.
I still follow the retail business closely, and indeed these are changing times for all. Reviewing the posts regarding the recent layoffs at Target, I can certainly understand peoples pain and concern. At the same time, I want to say to a lot of the commenters complaining that it's time to face reality. Target has not kept pace with the times, particularly in technology and operations and store level execution.
I urge all of you to get out of your Corporate cacoon in Minneapolis and visit a darn Target store. They are awful. Standards, execution, merchandising, all just below expectations. Out of stocks on Merchandise everywhere. My local Target in an affluent area of Omaha NE ( 180th and West Center) is a pig stye. Carts of returns everywhere, freight all over the floor. The store does not get straightened at night or throughout the day. The Walmart across the street is pristine. There was a time when this is what a Walmart store looked like. Not anymore. The Walmarts I've been in lately are much cleaner, neater and instock than the Targets, and years ahead on technology that both associates and customers use to enhance their shopping experience.
Quit complaining and get out into your stores!
Finance Transformation…what happened?
There was a lot of noise and fanfare about this but there still seem to be thousands of managers in Finance and a lot of spreadsheets…has anything really changed?
If Verizon riffed all Senior Directors would they be missed?
Would be a great cost saving and I don’t think they add much when there are already managers, senior managers,ADs and Directors
Get rid of some of the fat and Verizon might have a chance
VZ management is over staffed
It is crazy hearing about RIFs when we have so many executives and most people have no idea what they even do. CEO has a meeting, then the SVP has a meeting, then the VP, then the Sr director, etc. All just say the same things and ask what did you think about what the ceo said. If they want to cut costs start with upper and middle management.
turnaround
the only way to start this turnaround is to start by removing everyone at VP and above. they were complicit is creating this culture and never stood up against these practices
Survived another week, somehow. Please read
Section Manager here. I hate this place, cried twice today and I never cry, ever. I know a lot of people make different posts on here and much of it is pure cr-p. Please take this post to heart and make your own decisions. They are realigning leadership at all levels and looking for any excuse to fire people. This includes SMs, TMs, CSs, Underwriters, CA, USAs. They just changed the accountability cycle to the performance cycle. I'm being asked my CM/VP and Executive leadership weekly, that I basically need to find people to fire. They are basically saying make it up or dig until you can find something. They are hiding behind people not providing "World Class" leadership or service. It borderlines on illegal behavior. I can't stomach it anymore and trying my best to protect who I can, when I can, but any attempts put a huge target on my back. Everyone please and I mean please please watch yourself. These people are self-deluded sociopaths running this company and it is only going to get worse. I'm going to find a way out of here. I cannot live in this kind of environment, work for these type of people or be a part of it any longer. Get out. I know how hard it is especially when you have a family and obligations but go out on your turns. This purely evil place is not worth it. God bless everyone, just want you to know the deck you are playing with. This truly is an evil place, it does not stand for the right things anymore and your soul is not worth it.
I see many people are complaining about "managers"...
Since I’m one of them, can we do an informal poll here and ask people what they appreciate and value most in a manager-employee relationship? What management traits make someone a good manager?
New CEO Dan the man
So wonder Dan is realizing how useless Most upper and lower management is in wireline & wireless .Maybe he has realized only the people who are in some sort of hands on position are of any value. The whole reason we lose market share in wireless, wireline, buisness is because of bad management decisions on how to get the largest bonus .Maybe spend the least amount of money by shedding all our customers. Its like committing su----e trying to grab the dollar off the track with a train coming!!!!!
The management of this bank is horrific
https://m.economictimes.com/news/international/us/huntington-bank-to-acquire-cadence-bank-for-7-4-billion-stock-falls/amp_articleshow/124851773.cms
The combined bank will be bankrupt by 2027. Two of the worst mismanaged banks out there. Who will go under first? Pinnacle/Synovua or Huntington/Cadence?
karma
C-Suite. KARMA for selling off D/FW FiOS HQ to inept Frontier out of toilet trash ROCHESTER!
Another leader who flopped
Thoughts on this comment from an AVP : team members who are earning higher salary should have more on their plates. (Exact same titles)
The extractive model can only go so far
You can’t raise fees forever, and you can’t keep cutting people indefinitely. At some point you either build a sound business, or everything eventually falls apart.
Leaner? where?
I'd love to know how the heck we get any leaner out here in the CO's. Can't get the most basic stuff needed for years, and covering an unrealistically large geographical area ALONE when on OT. My suggestion is to start the "leaner" process with the redundancies up at the top, Dan!
Almost everyone who was valuable to Fiserv have left
Almost everyone who was valuable to Fiserv have left, some retired, some were tired of the complete mismanagement, some found better opportunities…. Bottom line, the cream of the crop are gone leaving the less talented and the incompetent. I don’t see Fiserv coming back at this point, it’s too far gone, too little too late, too bad….
The obscene thing is that management think they know their stuff, but they are the most incompetent people I’ve ever seen. Turn out the lights.
Fact or Fiction
Some leaders make claims that they know who posts on the site and can track it (even if not at work) who can confirm if they are just using it as a scare tactic?
All Middle Managers Stayed
All the 40+ middle managers survived while most L2s and some L4s in my department got the axe. How did your department fair?
Fiserv Needs To Fire All Middle Managers
These Managers provide conflicting directions which they don't even understand and are USELESS......waste of space. Fiserv needs workers.
Collab update
It sounds like the VP gave some pretty blunt advice regarding career progression for first-level managers. If the manager doesn't transition to an IC, they might be at risk of getting a pink slip
What about the other 16000 layoffs?
So 14000 is only 4% of corporate. 27000 was in fact the largest in history.
And there are so many redundant layers of management still.
Pulse mandatory
Pulse is optional but we are pressured to take it or else my store looks like a store with lots of concerns. Upper management with non stop pressure. The survey is good but the top top big wigs forcing it is BAD. So if you ask me it’s mandatory. If yall got low participation be ready all the visits
Metrics
Management is pushing for all metrics in various reports to look pristine. One project had a tasks at 100%, which was questioned as the project is most likely, with accurate reporting, in a red status. Response was that the initial jobs or tasks were ran. When it was pointed out that many of those items were incomplete still, the response was well we listed that on another sheet. Got it. Hiding the real results so the reports look good. Never mind that the overall project will fail.
Told today to close out a project that was marked as on hold. Asked why and how to track. Oh just note it yourself, maybe with a stick on note. Seriously was told that. Just wanted it gone so report looked nice. It would be karma if I am gone when this is resurrected, because that note will be gone as well as the project plan.
This place is a joke.
Survey
Although survey results have not been published, leaders are already touting it as a huge success solely based on the number of teammates that responded, which is up from years past. As has been mentioned before, it does not matter how bad the actual responses are, if they get high participation, executive management sees it as a win; they see it as teammates caring, engaged, and believing executive management listens (and will do something about issues).
Managers reference layoff site in meetings
I've been in a couple meetings late last week and management Sr director, ADs, SMs all mentioning the site as if our fear isn't valid. Basically they all were saying everything here is fake and no one really knows. Just strange that higher-ups mentioned the site by name and wanted to discredit everything on here. Who's know what is true on this site but for leadership to acknowledge it shows even they know some layoffs are coming.
Poor Performers
I have noticed during my time here that HQ has a really high tolerance for poor performers. We definitely have a few in my area that just skate by and hardly put in any effort. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they all survive Tuesday. Management protects them so much. Is this toxic cultural trait common on a lot of teams?
looking for advice to complain against my manager
my manager are delusionally promoting and spending a project which has no value or use. millions have been spent and there is no use case or demand for it. when i try challenging, they start commenting on my capability and character. when anything fails, which it is bound to in many steps, they say its your fault. can someone please advise how to deal with such a psycho in EM speak? i do want to keep my job, but it ki-ls me inside to hage such a stupid egotistic manager. and fee others around them who just keep promoting an obviously failing, money down the drain project.
Nov 21st?
Nov 21st - Has anyone heard about some leaders told to keep Nov 21 open for something. I am not sure what...nothing good or just a management meeting? I saw a post here a while back that mentioned it but wondering if there is an update with more information.
Issue is your stores
As a shopper of Target, it feels like the real issue is the quality of experience in your stores. Not sure how this gutting/reorg at HQ will solve any of the true problems that exist. The reality is the cleanliness, organization, employee availability/guest interaction, and in stocks have all fallen off the cliff. These are retail fundamentals that have nothing to do with speed in making decisions at HQ. Just last night there had to be 4 to 5 key grocery items not in stock. This is driving me to go to other retailers which are starting to become my #1 shopping location due to them have products in stock. Hopefully your senior leaders do actually monitor this to get the message. They don't listen to normal feedback channels.
