EIA - what a sick joke

I do not know why should I be surprised to see same a$$ kissers in receiving EIA.

Sick to my stomach, after yet another year / quarter where the efforts are not recognized or appreciated.

And no surprises where only the pets in the same location getting all the recognition.

Call me narcissist or petty, but no denying now that all the posts I saw about how managers have their own pets who get all the recognition were true.

@v7 there's quite a few in my organization who were "visible enough" despite not being in same location as rest of our team.

Yet I can clearly see how their achievements are not highlighted at all

I'm far from being an excelling individual but I do agree there's quite a lot of favouritism being played against people not in same region as your manager or your ethnic background.

Wealth platform is plagued with these kinds of politics

So the way this works is that twice a year managers start getting extreme pressure to nominate people. Managers get multiple messages and emails urging us to submit nominations and fill up the available number of nominations that our area is allowed. So you think about which individual contributor(s) you could most convincingly write a nomination about. Generally it’s someone who worked on a high priority or high visibility workstream and pulled off something really impressive. It’s probably not going to be someone who’s just a consistently hard worker and keeps their head down. It’s going to be whoever’s been most visible the past few months. I don’t think it’s really a “pet” thing. It’s just like, you have to nominate at least one person and you have to think who is most convincing at this time?

Winning is useless if you have a lazy a$$ manager lol

They will just say "great job team" and not highlight your individual achievements

Wow - I won and thought I worked very hard for it. Our group is numbers based on results so hard to hide who does best.

To think recognition is tied to performance is being naive.

I sympathize with you but the favouritism culture won't ever let merit deserve the accolades.
