EMTEC Hadcount

Seems like EMTEC is planning to increase the PIP % across all of its organizations this year. All the made up LCS roles are being reassigned back into research, Done with stories used to justify CL upgrades . At the same time, we are seeing significant redundancy across research functions, and there is heavy hiring within BTC on computational modeling, RTO, and data science groups.

Canadian Job Market Sees Weak Hiring, Not Layoffs

Canadian employment experienced minor growth in March 2026, marking the best Labour Force Survey of the year. The national unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6.7%. Statistics Canada data indicates that weak hiring is the primary issue, not widespread layoffs. The layoff rate in March was 0.6%, comparable to pre-pandemic averages. Average hourly wages increased by 4.7%, but this growth is largely due to shifts in employment composition.

Tech Firms Cut Jobs, Still Seek Key Talent

Tech companies cut nearly 79,000 jobs in early 2026. Oracle eliminated over 25,000 roles, and Amazon cut 16,000 positions. Many cuts are linked to AI adoption or automation-driven restructuring. Despite layoffs, companies still compete intensely for skilled talent. Hiring processes are becoming longer and more intentional for quality candidates.

Why dont we hire people from here?

Local American professionals are in surplus and jobless but we are paying more in visa fees instead of hiring people from here. Non-American managers prefer to hire non-American staff working here in the US, where Americans must be considered first. I cannot believe companies are unable to find people to do the job, there are folks here with even better skills.

Hi guys, how's the hiring situation like in State Farm these days?

I am looking to make a heroic return to State Farm. How have things been since 2020 after I left? Has the pay gotten any better? I'm looking at working as a Software Engineer as the market is too brutal right now and this place is my only hope. Is the interview process still easy?

Hey guys, is there any hiring going on in Georgia for corporate?

I know T-Mobile has been struggling and has monthly layoffs. I want to work for the competition. They've been my coverage provider since I left college. I just want to know if they're hiring developers in this bleak job market. Pardon me if this isn't the right place to ask.

Old Southeast Region

As someone that is on the recruiting team, just letting you know, if you came from this old region, there is a talked about stigma. Saving you time. Don’t bother applying to any roles. Take that for what you will. It su-ks but it is what it is. So many people rubbed the wrong way 3 years ago won’t hire you. Sorry.

For the record, I’m about to bounce from this BS. Figured I would get it out.

Anyone know what contracting agencies Fidelity works with for tech hiring?

Laid off from Fidelity as a SWE in 2024, became a contractor at another company using a contracting agency that works with Fidelity. Wanted to know if there’s a list of contracting agencies Fidelity uses so I can contact them and have more contacting agencies under my belt looking for a job when I need one. Thank you.

70/30 Is not true

I just had a candid conversation with band 5 director offline. They said no on-shore hiring at all, first look for HIH if you can't find there, then contract one of the vendors. Some of the vendors already moved to fixed bid and to provide unlimited resources, i.e. whether you get 5 contractors or 10, the pay will be set once, fixed. The goal is not 70 HIH and 30 On shore, it's way less, only select managers will be around supervising HIH - When are we going to stop this? do we even have a government that cares about American workers anymore.

Is there any hiring going on at T-Mobile right now?

I’ve been job hunting for the last 6 months and nothing solid has materialized. Even contracts are scarce in Atlanta for the dev market.

I’m looking for a job and I know there’s been cuts and more work on the employees but I don’t care because I’m desperate. I’m very close to considering the end of everything after 39 years on this miserable rock 🪨
