IGT Cuts 700 Jobs Globally

IGT announced global layoffs affecting 700 workers last month. This reduction represents about 10 percent of its worldwide workforce. The company stated the cuts align resources with business priorities. Analysts attribute the downsizing primarily to the IGT and Everi Holdings merger. The merger and subsequent acquisition by Apollo Global Management created position overlaps.

You’ve got to give it to Oracle

It’s not easy pulling off cutting 30k people in a single day. I’d almost call it impressive. If only they were that good at other things, like figuring out how to improve the bottom line without laying off that many people. You know, which should be known as doing their jobs.

5-10k more across europe romania phillipines emea japan australia ?

still a lot to come i believe they can cut more and more

Europe, romania( big presence in europe and low protection laws ) and other countries

phillipines emea japan australia

until now its about 12k from last week until this day , 8k to hit 20k is a possible number

We need to accept layoffs as the new normal

There's no longer a point in asking questions about whether layoffs are coming. They are. The answer will always be yes. The only question now is when. Is it in a month or two, or maybe three, but never longer than that. It's not how things should be, but it is what it is.

Portland State University Plans Deep Program Cuts

Portland State University projects a $35 million budget deficit by 2028. President Ann Cudd announced plans for institutional downsizing, called retrenchment. Nineteen academic departments could see reductions or elimination. Rising costs, limited state funding, and a 23% enrollment drop contribute to the deficit. These changes could lead to staff layoffs, with a final decision expected in June.
