Say a buyout is near without saying a buyout is near

Is it just me or was the last company meeting different? It wasn’t the usual energetic fluff that we’re used to. There was no formal run down of the numbers by the CFO. Then SM and SR bring in another one of their friends to run security. What’s unusual about this friend is she’s close to retirement age which means she isn’t joining for a lengthy career. It says a buyout is near without saying a buyout is near.

How it used to be :-(

Sitting here remembering when each holiday season, BOAs could choose a turkey or ham to take home. I was so proud to provide that for my family. That "founder of the feast" feeling.

When that program was axed a year after PP got here, I thought it was really sad b/c each year I counted on that "bonus."

Guess it was a sign of things to come....the beginning of the dismembering of Edward Jones.

took my pto and then laid me off, FU NetApp

Been a loyal NTAP employee for over a decade. I was told to burn my PTO in exchange for all the time off that i wanted. Then you lay me off and keep the $20k that I would have had coming to me if you had not told me to use it ASAP. So glad to not be working for this company anymore, how awful you are to the people that once made you great. What a terrible leadership team that is now in charge of a once great company. Keep sc--wing your employees and see how that works out for you in the very near future........

Goodbye - layoff.com

I survived… but not sure how Vz can ever feel like “family” after so many face so much uncertainty right before the holidays.

Unfortunately, we will meet again layoff.com, when the next round comes.

This site had many trolls but it also provided more information that leadership cared to share with us.

What's the deal with Humana's 6-week maternity leave?

I'm considering working at Humana but the 6-week paid maternity leave seems really short compared to their competitors.

It makes me wonder about what they actually value as a company. Has anyone worked there and can tell me what they're really like?"Retry

CLAIM JOBS WILL NEVER MOVE TO THE HUBS

With all the changes the new leadership over P & C claims are implementing across all of p&c they will never get these claim jobs moved into the hubs. Not Injury, not TL, not fire, not Sub, not Property. There is to much for new hires to learn and retain, they will not stay. What we have in the hubs now cannot do the work. We will work from home forever or until they make us miserable enough to quit.

Verizon Never A Truly Great Company

@"the men and women who built this into a once great company."

Seriously, Verizon was NEVER a "Great" company. They never invented any groundbreaking technologies nor created any new markets nor set any significant business or technology trends.

Verizon (Bell Atlantic & Nynex) was spawned from AT&T (AKA, "Ma Bell") and grew primarily thru acquisitions (GTE, Alltel, MCI and potentially Frontier). Yes, they built out an excellent network but their real success come from leveraging sheer mass scale.

AT&T and IBM would be examples of truly great companies. Verizon is an "also ran" company who's day in the sun is fading because it ignored it's customers.

Do you think Dan reads this board?

I’m wondering…

How does he feel about his nickname? Dan the Hatchet Man? I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually likes it.

How does it feel to cause such intense pain and misery to 13,000 individuals, multipled by 3 or 5 when you take into account, the family members of those who have been laid off?

The change Verizon really needs is a new board of directors!

Terrible decisions from Lowell started this spiral, then they bring in Hans who made very poor decisions with Ericsson and big shocker history repeated itself at Verizon. I literally remember the day he was named as CEO, fellow co workers talking about his track record at scratching their heads on why he was named....and the kicker....the new CEO was on the board of directors when they picked Hans. So all the cr-ppy decisions he made can all tie back to the board and their awful decision to bring him on. So now a member of that cr-ppy board of directors is now the CEO and employees and investors are supposed to have some kind of hope in that? I cant believe what this once wonderful company has turned into. All these frontline workers who bust their butts and care about the customers are just tossed to the curb...DURING THE HOLIDAYS. Very heartless. Just think about it...axing 13k individuals in hopes that that news would drive up stock price by a few pennies. Very very sick game they are playing. I left back in 2023 and couldnt be happier. It was so scary and stressful when it happened to me and my heart goes out to those effected. Its so hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel and I know the job market now is much worse than it was in 2023. I genuinely hope you all land on your feet...and soon.

Move on or jump ship

I have no experience in running a small company, let alone a big one. I can think of a strategy to fire employees to save money and show increased profits to raise share price.

The current ceo with so much experience is coming up with the same strategy to compete with T-Mobile and AT&T!!

I see no future for Verizon. If you get RIFed, think positive and look for a better company.. consider it x years wasted on a company run by people who have no vision.

If you don’t get RIFed, take this as a wake up call to jump ship because it’s sinking.

There is no VTeam feel anymore here. With so much uncertainty, unrealistic deadlines, there is no dignity nor recognition of the hard work done. Simply blackmail tactics.

Are they selling of Vz International?

So Dan laid off 13,000 people yesterday, 2,000 short of the 15K total we've all been hearing about for the last few weeks.

I'm hearing rumors from several sources that they plan to sell off Vz International (to BT) in April next year. Will the remaining 2,000 heads be from there do we think?

Funny

Funny how Dan S couldn’t wait to send his email to lay 13k people off. Sent it at 7 am. Well it’s 8 am the next day and we still don’t know which execs, vps, sds and ads got laid off. He laid off all the people that do the actual work but kept all the people who just go to meetings to wag their fingers. Good luck turning this company around with people who don’t want to do a lick of work

Severance Expense

Looking at the FIS quarterly report, FIS has paid out $205 million in severance this year compared to $34 million for the same period last year. Also there is a comment, "The Company continues to evaluate its organizational structure and expects to
incur additional severance costs in the fourth quarter of 2025." I wonder how many people that equates to?
