Today I got a bill for supplemental life insurance

I got a bill in todays mail from Vz Benefits for $600 (for spouse and dependent supplemental life) requesting payment. I checked the Vz RIF FAQ doc on this and it reads "you may also continue supplemental and dependent coverage...." but I never elected to continue this coverage once I was RIFd. I suspect some of you will also receive such a bill.

Google Project Team is a Joke

That “Fireside Chat” today was beyond corny and completely useless. I’m sure the 1933 evening radio programs were much more informative and reassuring to the American people. Totally scripted questions which were rehearsed, regurgitated answers that could be found in previous emails and the FAQ website, beating around the bush & stalling on important issues that will need to be addressed pronto, communication is not tailored to specific departments, i.e. using a one-size-fits-all approach is not effective. For example, I don’t travel, so I don’t care how I access files when I’m in an airport. Of course, the collaboration, security, and AI rationale was propagated instead of being frank and stating that it’s a cost-cutting measure. No, you are not getting a Chromebook immediately, so stop asking. Yes, we know Early Adopters begin December 8th and everybody else mid-February. What will you need to do if use complex tools? They’ll “figure it out” later on, aka you’ll need to rebuild everything from scratch and make some sacrifices along the way.

Buckle up, it’s about to get brutal.

Don't worry, no layoffs

Electronic Arts, headquartered in Redwood City, California, has sought to reassure employees following its massive $55 billion buyout. The company told staff through an FAQ filed with the SEC that there will be no immediate layoffs or job changes as a result of the deal, despite rumors circulating after Insider Gaming reported that employees at subsidiary BioWare feared cuts.

The FAQ emphasized that the acquisition allows EA to operate privately, outside the pressures of quarterly market expectations, and to take a longer-term approach to investment. EA said this new structure will give the company more creative and operational flexibility to pursue bold strategies and expand globally.

Still, the company acknowledged the reality of its financial obligations, including $20 billion in debt linked to funding the transaction. The buyout was backed by a consortium that includes PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. While Electronic Arts has insisted that no layoffs are planned in the short term, comparisons have been drawn to Microsoft’s handling of Activision Blizzard, where workforce reductions eventually followed after a delay.

EA maintains that it is in a strong financial position and will use the buyout to “unlock new opportunities,” but uncertainty remains among employees about what the long-term impact might be.

Anyone get their severance $ ?

I know the FAQ says 3 weeks after signing the separation agreement. But as we have seen here some people got their laptop return box before "3 weeks" as well, some even before the separation date. O is being somewhat opaque about all this (big surprise). Just curious if anyone already got their cash yet.
