Why would you quit and give up your paycheck over RTO? Just quiet quit and force their hand. Don't do management a favor by leaving for free.

Give them the performance they rated you
Many were marked below or meet some for the sake of bnys ulterior motive to get rid of people to avoid paying severance. So match that rating!!! Dont waste your time going above or beyond when they clearly don't care or appreciate you. most wont make it to get next merit so stop doing extra. Do bare minimum
Anything new on potential layoffs?
I'm not liking the quiet, feels too much like a storm is brewing.
just do the minimum
listen i'm not killin myself for this paycheck. the bare minimum is where its at. save your real effort for your own life not this job.
Guidance for quiet quitting
Seeking guidance from folks who quit and moved on to other opportunities. I assume you must have done some financial due diligence on your monthly expenses, found something that meets or tops it. However what other housekeeping activities did you do, in order to not look back at T or scavenging for info from T’s internal websites.
I came after holidays and first meeting and I just cant take this sh-t anymore.
All day today I was like "what to do: quiet quit or really quit without any job to move into??". I used to really love software and engineering before Dell.
Now I think this is my first job where I really hate it, mainly because of our "great": tools, processes, managers and yesman crowd. oh ye and cant have a single meeting without AI AI AI bs and some other random 10 words nobody use outside of Dell.
I did literally nothing today and plan same for rest of the week, got another id--t task which description was written by manager on dr-gs and it will be "always NOK" so I plan just commit some MicroSlop and will "hide" till rest of sprint like the rest of them.
Layoffs
It’s very quiet in our area. I am wondering what’s going on. Awhile back people were talking their heads off now it’s quiet as a mouse around here. Work is is slimming down and all is being said is leadership is busy. Something seems off
2026 will be the year of quiet quitting for me
That's my resolution. No more giving more than I'm paid for. I do my hours and that's it. I'm done.
Are they quietly pushing people out?
Lately, it seems like more people are just being let go. They're not calling it a layoff, and there's no severance. Just, quietly firing folks, I guess?
Anybody else started quiet quitting?
I think every single one of us should be doing it.
Why does anyone expect me to keep churning?
I’m done. Why should I work like crazy for weeks after being told I’m out? I’ll be fair and do the bare minimum, which is already more courtesy than this company showed me. Laid off and they still think I should be invested in the outcomes? That’s actually laughable.
So many are gone
Between quiet quits and full layoffs, I’ve lost track of how many faces are gone. Every week another familiar name disappears and the workload just piles up. At this point I don’t know how we’re expected to keep delivering with so many holes. And the cuts keep coming.
Let this be a strong reminder to you.
You are an entry on a spreadsheet. Nothing more. Your work, attendance, team spirit, participation in HR childish buffoonery, none of it matters. None.
Give the least amount of effort possible, and when you decide to walk for a different/better job because you no longer expect to spend a decade or more at one company, just walk out. No two weeks, no notice, nothing. Just a note and your all your equipment in a box.
You. Owe. Them. NOTHING.
Looks like I was right
To quiet quit in April of 2020 when we were working from home every day. Collected 5 1/2 years of salary, 401k matches, got in shape, learned a lot of new stuff and learned to completely relax.
Expecting the RIF in a couple of days but know that finances are taken care of and moving on to next chapter, if necessary.
Best of luck to all
I started quiet quitting today
Verizon has shown such disrespect toward all of us that it feels like they can't stand their own employees, and I really no longer feel like doing anything above the bare minimum for this place. Fu-k this place. I'm getting laid off anyway, if not now then in the next round or the one after that. There's no reason to bother anymore.
Another round of layoffs for VSE
Another 6 people in my group of 30 got layoffs yesterday from VSE in RA. Came out of nowhere.
Of course they kept some of the more useless people.
I haven't seen anything posted about it. Strangely quiet and quick.
Stop your Bit-hing and get to work
I have been bad mouthing DXC Technology for some time , since before I retired for the lack of annual merit pay increases.
But reading all the blog posts about some DXC employees do quite quitting, quite striking I see why DXC margins are so high, if the employee's would work to the best of their ability (as they still are being paid a salary), the work would get done faster, the margins would go way down and the company might be able to retain more clients and also grab new ones.
When I was employed, I complained but always worked my butt off, as I have pride, ownership and didn't want to let my team mates down, or most of my supervisors/people managers and directors
Quiet Quitting
Just checking in.
How are the quiet quitters fairing these days.
Is it still a thing?
Situation at O&Os
Seeing lots of corporate level posts but what about the situation at your station? All quiet at mine so far (being vague in case Sonny Boy is lurking here).
Quiet quit
That’s what I plan to do from now on. I’ll give back exactly what I’m given in return. They’ve shown us how little they think of us, so why should I bother giving it my all anymore? My best effort will be reserved for my next company, hopefully one that treats its employees better.
How is quiet quitting working out for you?
A bunch of people said a while ago they were no longer giving it their all and have started quiet quitting. I'm curios, how's that working out? How did your manager react, if at all? Have you been put on a PIP or is everything still functioning as usual? This is an honest question. I'd love to do the same thing, but I'm too scared of losing my job.
Quite quitting
Tell me how to quiet quit so I am doing it right.
Definitely not worth breaking your back for any company
Especially not this one. I’ve been doing the bare minimum for a while now. The only times I’ve actually put in extra effort were to help a teammate in a bind. At least when I get the boot, I won’t have any regrets.
A manager’s perspective … sigh
Don’t even think about putting in for a promotion for your staff members because of the “economic climate”. WHY are Canon’s executive leaders not investing in our people??? We seem to have $$$$ to spend (see: SPHERE). Talented, hardworking people are resigning daily (or just “quiet quitting”…). Our TOP talent is leaving- fast & furious! Yes, there are some people leaving who have been dead weights anyway, and for them, good riddance - but not everyone. Either way, when your employees are the walking brand of your company, you NEED to make sure you treat them well, so they can spread positive word about the company. For example…Look at this layoff site. It’s supposed to be a site to talk about layoffs. And this page never existed for Canon until the major layoffs last year. BUT the conversations continue here to this day, even when the company is not actively laying people off - because of the way our people are being treated … so they come here to vent because no one else listens or does anything to address their concerns. Pretty simple really. The negative PR is not helping with sales.
The one thing we’ve learned from these ongoing layoffs is this:
Don’t give them anything. No extra time, no extra effort, no loyalty. Just the bare minimum. And don’t take on the work dumped on you from the skilled people they just tossed aside. Why help clean up their mess or shoulder more, when you could be the next in line to go?
Silent quitting my experience
I’ve been in claims for nearly 3 years, got a pretty good schedule where I work task work the entire day, I do my 5 task an hour, takes me like 15 minutes, I click my mouse multiples times so no idle shows up, and then I just play video games for the the better part of the day, and I know a lot of people are gonna come bi--hing and moaning about my post but idgaf lmao, I have a small community of people in SF that do the same, I was really into the work for the better part of 2 years and realized being remote there’s no opportunities to move up and now I don’t think I want to if there was an opportunity, I’m just gonna milk the system until I decide what I want to do next. Gonna learn how to use this FMLA and STD before I do up and quit. Cheers!
Pepsi Largest Mishap in some time.....
Pepsi has struck again! It seems that Frito managed the change with the job titles in the proper manner. Meetings and communication were had. But, then there is Pepsi who just dropped the bo-b and everyone woke up on Monday morning to a new job title. There was no communication, no discussions and no email communication.
As a Director, I reached out to HR since every single member of my team had a different job title, including myself. I was told that they were unaware and would look into it. Here we are 48 hours later....and still crickets. How is this possible? This organization is crumbling and we deserve better. You heard of "quiet quitting"....well, you just signed us all up to start doing "less" again!
Now, that the cat is out of the bag, just go ahead and announce the reorg, restructure, merger & sale of some of the territories. Offer VRP to these VP's, Senior Directors and the folks who didn't take the VRP last time. We are all here just waiting for the offer. I for one will gladly take it this time.
Now, we wait and see how many days it takes Pepsi HR & the Division President's to show up with communication and speaking points for us to take back to our teams.
Plain and simple...DO BETTER!
90 day notice for Dec 2 2025 layoff
At least 100 employees received notice on September 2nd giving them 90 days until their December 2nd termination.
My manager called me into a 9:00 a.m. meeting and said "I and requires you read to you the following statement...". The notice was legalistic and had no positive message (like perhaps You haven't done anything actionable). He had no other details for me and no specifics about severance. He said I would receive an official document within 24 hours and I received that in the evening.
Opportunity is given to apply for jobs internally, but I have much better opportunities outside and BSC just isn't a great place to work. The usual job search consulting and training is available through the so-called "talent bridge".
Severance information was listed in the document that I received and all full-time non-manager employees will receive two weeks severance plus one additional week for every complete year of service. It appears we don't get any portion of our performance bonuses like TIP because the grant date is after termination.
So a meager severance package and a dreary 90 day notice while they try to get some transition how do I say and hope that we go away at zero cost. If we leave prior to termination date we get no severance and we lose TIP bonus regardless. Leaving people at risk for being jobless and short of funds right before Christmas.
That's a cold corporate kiss-off. They definitely care more about savings than treating people fairly.
Prior to this jobs downturn for having I would have had my pickup jobs. I still am not too concerned but can't be sure. We were told in a training bridge overview session that They recommend spending 30% of our job time on training and job search. I think they'll be lucky and will say thank you if I give half. The internal corporate optics are not good when they push on people already striped of their financial stability and professional dignity.
The movie Office Space tells us everything we need to know about how to use the little power we have to not become victims of corporate greed and cruelty. Practice Quiet-Quitting and "Not Missing Work".
Fire this CEO
He is a quiet quitter.
I won't mind being laid off
The whole industry is facing rough times, so layoffs are going to be a given for a while. At this point, I’d welcome the severance and use it as a chance to switch into something with at least somewhat better prospects over the next several years. Staying put is like waiting for the floor to drop out anyway.
I'm done with this
I'm done with the stress, the constant drip of half-information, the endless waiting to see if layoffs are coming or not. I'm just done. From here on out, I'm quiet quitting. Any extra time or energy I have is going into finding a new job. This place doesn’t deserve more from us after the way we've been treated.
The only real motivation
The only real motivation at this company is to not totally sc--w over the counter workers you actually like. If not for that I would do nothing and wait 6 months for this garbage company to fire me.
We should all quiet quit after this
Oracle showed us how little it thinks about us. That no amount of knowledge, experience, or initiative will protect any of us from layoffs. So why in the world should any of us bother to do anything else but the bare minimum? I'm done. I'm quiet quitting until I find something new.
Over 50 …
If I make it past this round, I plan to “quiet quit” (do the minimum) next 3-4 years and collect the package next layoff round.
If this is how they treat us … this is what they will get. It’s a very rational decision on my part.
Play nice until you get that severance check. They are cutting at all angles. Don’t give them a reason to make you a new way to cut costs.
#quietquitting
In these days of inflation, not getting a COL raise is the same as getting a pay cut. They don't need to lay folks off if they can compel their employees to leave voluntarily. Why else do you think they're bringing folks back to the office? #SilentLayoffs, #Quietquitting. What comes around, goes around.
The secret's out. After realizing that hustle culture is a one-way ticket to burnout, mental health issues and premature signs of aging, the hottest trend in the workplace is "quiet quitting."
What is quiet quitting? Hint: It's not the name of John Krasinki's next silent horror movie.
The phrase comes from—where else—kids on TikTok. Here's how user Zaid Khan explains it: "I learned about this term called 'quiet quitting' where you're not outright quitting your job but you're quitting the idea of going above and beyond at work. You're still performing your duties but you're no longer subscribing to the hustle culture mentality that work has to be your life. The reality is, it's not and your worth as a person is not defined by your labor."
The concept is simple enough: Do your job but don't ki-l yourself. Going "above and beyond" is optional, not mandatory as many of us have been indoctrinated to believe.
And if your job expects superhuman commitment, then you better be compensated like one.
“I realized no matter how much work I put in I’m not going to see the payoff that I’m expecting,” said Khan, a 24-year-old software developer and musician. “Overworking only gets you so far in corporate America. And like a lot of us have experienced in the past few years, mental and physical health really takes a backseat to productivity in a lot of these structured corporate environments.”
Quiet quitting is resonating in a big way. As NPR reports, the hastag #quietquitting quickly garnered 8.2 million views since the TikTok was posted.
It's easy to conflate quiet quitting with glamorizing underperformance but this isn't about discouraging ambition. You should dream big. But spend those extra hours having fun, pursuing passions and hobbies and building your personal brand.
As expected, those in the C-suite are fighting this. “Quiet quitting is a really bad idea,” said Kevin O’Leary, an investor and star of ABC’s Shark Tank, according to CNBC. “People that go beyond to try to solve problems for the organization, their teams, their managers, their bosses, those are the ones that succeed in life."
That sounds fine and good for a guy with an estimated net worth of $400 million. He (like all business owners) benefit from the sweat equity of their employees. But how many of these employees ever see even a sliver of that wealth?
As someone who works in the music industry, I know first-hand the obscene discrepancy between those at the top and everybody else. I've seen people slog for years in unpaid internships, entry-level positions and middle management. Hamsters on the wheel to nowhere. Budgets get cut while execs spend millions on vanity projects and ego st-----g. Employees live in constant fear of the next round of layoffs. Many can't even do basic adulting like purchase a home or have real retirement savings.
I don't even need to bring out the statistics on how this breaks down in terms of gender and race. You already know.
Call it quiet quitting or smartening up.
Don't confuse YOUR self worth with a company's net worth.
#QuietQuitting @ Verizon
Do some research on this. Verizon employees need to get on this trend and stop the madness of unrealistic expectations. They will hide everything under "going above and beyond" or try to intimidate you that if you don't pick Verizon over everything, that they will find people who will.
