Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Quiet quit

That’s what I plan to do from now on. I’ll give back exactly what I’m given in return. They’ve shown us how little they think of us, so why should I bother giving it my all anymore? My best effort will be reserved for my next company, hopefully one that treats its employees better.

@az Couldn't have written that better myself: All companies su-k to be honest - some are better than others, but they all su-k when their bottom line is $$$.

In my younger years, I would leave one toxic environment for another but interestingly EVERY company/manager that became toxic wasn't when I first joined: You join wide-eyed and thrilled and can't stop talking about what a great company culture, UNTIL a few months or years into it. You then realize it was all a facade. That manager you thought was super cool and on your side; ends up picking favorites. The culture values of work/life balance are all performative when you end up working evenings/weekends.

Creating boundaries is super hard because you feel like if you don't; they will take advantage of you. But on the other hand, if you do; then they assume you aren't a team-player and being considered for the chopping block. It's crazy. Life starts once you retire; and then you are dead within ten to twenty years if you are lucky.

That’s a pretty defeatist approach. Quiet quitting doesn’t hurt the company nearly as much as it hurts your own reputation and opportunities. If you’ve already checked out, it’s probably better to move on than stay and coast.

If you make it through the cuts and if they cut really deep, dont be surprised if they give key people raises to ensure they dont leave.

People at target have proven once again they are the softest around. It’s embarrassing, really.

I honestly feel like most the people on this thread have never worked at another company before other than Target. People think “other companies” “grass is greener” treat their employees better? Target may have been golden era in past but we live in a different world now and Target is still a lot better than most. Nowhere is perfect. Reality: we live in a capitalist society and work for one of the largest retailers in the world. With AI here and current state of where job markets are - I’d work my a-s off anywhere. Feel lucky to have a job and treat it as such and have boundaries in you life/quality of life. If you feel good to quite quit then you should just quit and find something you actually love to do. Doing anything half a-s is only a poor reflection on you and probably makes you feel like garbage.
