@s1 No one asked to be treated like sh1t, cussed out, or bullied by management! No one asked to have their lives ruined by the UP and their never ending quest for higher and higher profits to please the shareholders. Go ask the thousands of people that did their jobs, lost their jobs and see what their opinion is of the management there. The UP has always had way too many managers and many of them don't have the slightest dam idea of how to do the work they manage! Yet those same managers are walking around with their little rule books in hand because they dont even know the rules, and looking for anything they can find to write people up for. I applied at the UP to work on trains. I didn't apply to be a F-ing punching bag or a scapegoat for the hugely dishonest management. Even Vena himself is a liar! He's the only person I've ever seen implement a business plan, watch it fail at EVERY class 1 that used it, trigger special government hearings, become the ceo of the UP, continue to BS the investors about how good the PSR business model is amongst it's many massive failures, and continue to use that model like it's the only option available. If Vena can't be honest with himself, then how can anyone expect him to be honest with anyone else??? Remember when the UP did their second chance initiative? That F-ed up plan was designed at hiring non-violent criminals to work at the UP. EVEN THE FELONS WEREN'T APPLYING!!! Nope now the UP is working even harder to further eliminate more jobs by amending or drafting even more stupid rules to make the jobs even harder or impossible to do. The UP doesn't have anywhere near enough people at many locations as it is, and they're looking for any way they can to further reduce the current headcount they still have. Vena needs to go, NOW!!! The merger application already got denied because of missing information, and the UP has thirty days to revise and add the information that the STB wants, then resubmit the application for merger approval. Any bets as to why the information the STB is wanting was omitted in first place? The men and women of the UP are the ones that are paying for or paid for Venas mistakes with their jobs! I really don't think that's what any one of thousands of former employees applied for! You should go ask them before you go run your mouth about the things happening at the UP you clearly have no clue about. If you're a manager, then your comment makes total sense.

@s1 What is the job that we were hired and paid to do? If you know, then tell us! There's a whole lot of people that dont even know what the job is anymore! Now, the UP has come up with yet a faster quicker way to fire you. They combined that $tupid maps program, and now call it caps. Under that program, they can fire you on the first offense for what management can determine to be as an "egregious" violation. No more levels! I believe that rolls TEY and mechanical into one group now. I was doing the job that I was hired to do, but it just got to the point that just being there was risky enough. Actually doing the work that I was hired to do is now safer than just showing up! Thanks but no thanks! Its not worth it!

You should be doing the bare minimum. If not, then you are a victim of exploitation because of corporate greed. Exploitation is what real unions prevented in the past. This will give you an idea of who runs unions today

Quit crying and do the job that you applied for and are paid to do. You came to the railroad and asked for a job. If you don’t want to do it quit and find a job that you won’t whine about.

When they figure out that employees should be treated like people instead of equipment things may change. But rest assured all the individuals promoting and pushing this will eventually be the equipment.
