Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

A manager’s perspective … sigh

Don’t even think about putting in for a promotion for your staff members because of the “economic climate”. WHY are Canon’s executive leaders not investing in our people??? We seem to have $$$$ to spend (see: SPHERE). Talented, hardworking people are resigning daily (or just “quiet quitting”…). Our TOP talent is leaving- fast & furious! Yes, there are some people leaving who have been dead weights anyway, and for them, good riddance - but not everyone. Either way, when your employees are the walking brand of your company, you NEED to make sure you treat them well, so they can spread positive word about the company. For example…Look at this layoff site. It’s supposed to be a site to talk about layoffs. And this page never existed for Canon until the major layoffs last year. BUT the conversations continue here to this day, even when the company is not actively laying people off - because of the way our people are being treated … so they come here to vent because no one else listens or does anything to address their concerns. Pretty simple really. The negative PR is not helping with sales.

@4zv HA! Gaslighting at its finest.

It all comes from the top, my friend.

As a leader, why do you think employees say leadership doesn’t listen? What are you doing to influence positive change and restore employee confidence, trust, faith, etc.?

@f9 you are correct employees do not trust management. They say one thing to your face then have opposite actions. That’s if you are lucky enough to receive a response in the first place. Many are hung up on their titles.

It’ll improve with the CHANNEL model. The time SAVINGS of not having to listen to endlessly COMPLAINING sales reps and the obligatory eye ball rolls of all within 30 feet? PRODUCTIVITY to the moon! 🚀

Employees don't trust management. If anything, management is taking advantage of employees. HR's hands tied? Wave lawsuit in their face and watch them get the zip-ties off very quickly. Time for folks to get in management's face. And interesting tidbit about PK. That guy is worthless as a road apple.

Oh I am sure the company already compiled fluidity lists to target vets 50 and above, even if they are performing well in spite of roadblocks, and incompetent and clueless management.

CSG is run by the wrong group of individuals and you are now starting to see why. Years ago a decision was made to promote PK to President. Over the years he has brought every friend for the ride and helped Central out by giving a low quota.

Fast forward to today. PK’s friends are not that intelligent and let’s just say they are not making him look good. It’s time for PK to pack and move back to Illinois. He sent his wife back last year and sold his big house. Now it’s time to pack up the apartment PK and call it a day. You are out of touch with the CSG sales team. You could care less about us and we can’t stand you. We see through all you bs.

In closing, don’t tell us the market is tough and you appreciate all the hard work but then leave quotas inflated. If you want to raise the price, no problem. You want Canon to have their cake and you want them to eat it too. That doesn’t work for us. I don’t speak for everyone but I think most of us want to see you leave.

Fellow manager here and facing the same challenges with my team. I’ve had resignations. My people are very disengaged because they see no path for their careers - they want growth. They want flexibility with the hybrid arrangement, however even the holiday schedule and all the rules around that is coming up as a huge area of concern. They also feel that there is no one at the executive level that actually trusts employees. In my business group most people are doing extra work because they took on more responsibilities from people who left. They are all just distressed and overwhelmed. They sign on after hours to catch-up on work. Yet, there still seems to be a level of distrust in employees, and leadership acts like we are all taking advantage. It’s offensive and saddening to see this at Canon. I never thought I would see the day that Canon becomes a toxic workplace, but the writing is on the wall. I even went to HR but their hands are tied. I hope things improve, but I am starting to think we’re all doomed under this current executive team. If anyone would like to meet offline maybe we can start brainstorming some solutions.

Maybe if Canon treated their employees with respect and end the toxic uncertainty the C-Suite and VP su-k ups created, then their sales and image would be a good one. Management brought this on themselves.
