Synaptics Execs Sell RSU Stock Amid 29.4% Revenue Drop and Layoffs

Synaptics saw a 29.4% revenue decline in fiscal year 2024 compared to 2023, likely prompting layoffs that hurt employee morale. Meanwhile, execs continue to sell RSU stock, funded by stock buybacks, potentially eroding trust further. This raises questions about how many engineering jobs were cut to support these insider stock trades.

Wasn't Redwood Shores the HQ for AI in the Terminator Genisys movie?

Larry gave us forewarning. He wants his AI to rule. And at the very least, you can't be a prominent AI company without decimating your own workforce.

"Oracle, why should I buy your products? How will it help me? How has Oracle AI helped Oracle?"

"We reduced our workforce by 70% in the first year, and so can you!"

"Sold!"

I’ve been job hunting like crazy for months

There’s absolutely nothing. I don’t know if it’s just bad luck or if the market is really this broken. If anyone has even the smallest positive story, please share. I need to hear that someone out there actually managed to land a decent job, or at least got an offer. I haven’t had a single callback. It’s infuriating and demoralizing. And now with layoffs hanging over us, I don’t even know how we’re supposed to keep it together.

Start looking now

It really doesn’t matter if you think you’re safe from layoffs or not, because the job market right now is the worst it has been in years. Employers seem to be taking revenge for the Great Resignation, and that means not only is it tough to find a new role, it’s even harder to find one that will pay anywhere close to what you are used to. You honestly have nothing to lose by starting to look now. The worst that can happen is you do not get laid off and end up landing another offer, which is a much better outcome than being suddenly laid off with no prospects lined up, believe me.

Well well well

The list of major companies laying off staff this year includes Oracle, Kroger, Nike, Scale AI, and more

Ally is cutting less than 5% of workers.
The digital-financial-services company Ally is laying off roughly 500 of its 11,000 employees, a spokesperson confirmed to BI.

"As we continue to right-size our company, we made the difficult decision to selectively reduce our workforce in some areas, while continuing to hire in our other areas of our business," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson also said the company was offering severance, outplacement support, and the opportunity to apply for openings at Ally.

Ally made a similar level of cuts in October 2023, the Charlotte Observer reported.

You Could Try, And Fail.

Maybe your best won't be good enough. But maybe you'll go all in and come out with everything. There's only one way to find out.

Is it me, or do Nike's ads at these times of layoffs, low share price etc speak to themselves...

Sorry for all let go this time.

For those left, you know its only a matter of time

Return to Office - Unofficial Layoff

They have started the next round of layoffs without having to pay severance. They are cherry picking which employees are allowed to remain remote and those that need to report to either Lake Mary or Pittsburgh. Failure to relocate is considered voluntary termination / resignation by the Work Together policy. It doesn't matter if you were previously approved to work in remote location... The worst is inconsistent enforcement. Many people on team remote - only certain individuals given mandate to relocate. It should be illegal to consider it voluntary termination. If you are going to layoff someone do so.

The company couldn’t be less modern

I think the government is more modern than Dell. The initiatives they drive to modernize are basic engineering practices that our management rejects, because our management teams at the SVP level and up have no idea about technologies or industry practices. The operational models they’ve put into place in ISG and CSG are steps backwards. They couldn’t possibly be more bureaucratic and foolish. Just huge power grabs made from people who have no idea what they’re doing and are so philosophical and unrealistic it’s embarrassing in practice.

Meanwhile you add the layoffs, cut throat attitude and poor strategy and you’ve got yourself one of the worst businesses of all time.

Dell is a company stuck in the 90s that has no strategy, poor management and terrible engineering practices. They don’t really want to modernize although they like the word.

It’s pathetic and sad.

Why No Promotions in Oracle ? Is it Ego of Managers or Bad Oracle Internal policies ?

This is ask for all Directors and Executives who got impacted by Layoff.
I've been working in Oracle for 10+ years now and I am impacted by layoff. I don't regret the layoff. One question which was lingering in my mind was despite my honest day and night contributions to the project, I was not even considered for promotion or growth.
I had been exceeding expectations of my managers/executives and each time I raised my bar level and was able to meet it. At the end of focal cycle all I got was a 2% or 5% hike to maximum which was almost equivalent to lowest performer in my team.
I even attempted to jump to another project offering a senior role but was cut down by internal recruiters saying I can't move up in lateral jumps. The project seemed like a dead-end for me and I wasn't even allowed to move to another project which looks promising technology atleast but in vain.
What was the Ego which prevented you guys from helping your employees grow. Is it typical asian mindset ? to slave one person and extract everything ?
All I noticed was some monkey executive coming from external company (Infact he was less experienced than I was) and started controlling us. He doesn't even know half of the architecture I know about org. Is this the fate ?

All about taxes

Yep. A $25M office renovation in round rock. Totally unnecessary while they’re laying off thousands of people.

But they want you back in they get tax breaks because of it. POS company.

Was the cut 10 percent on every department in fusion in the us?

I was part of the layoff but I feel the cut was not needed in my department and it was a way for my manager to look good since we had some retirement coming up and the person did not get touched but I did and another member did. A senior member indicated that won’t get impacted.

Anyway I’m out it su-ks I worked so hard and cared. I looses sleep over this .

Empty Space Between Events

What happens between the 2nd and 15th? I believe that is when “selection meetings” begin? So that time in between? Nothing occurs?

I’m quite sure advocates have been speaking with job owners during the entire process, especially when the jobs were released.

So is the process like a shark tank? Talent Card flashes up on screen, advocate stands up and addresses the group which has your job owner in it? A bidding war erupts?

Or is this a “we will make the square peg fit in this round hole”, or a “we will fill the square hole with whatever square we can find”, or a “square holes don’t exist because all the square pegs have already been set aside”?

I’ll be ok till the end of the year, I think. I’d rather not move to H-Town as I am actively avoiding it for the time being, however it’s becoming clear the industry is centralizing there. I know…brilliant deduction.

2.5 weeks left. Unfortunately, my “open for work” will always be visible to hiring managers from now on. Loyalty is but a faint memory.

LAHSA Cuts Again

la's main homelessness agency, lahsa, will cut or reassign staff due to a 5 percent budget reduction this fiscal year. the agency faces city, state, and federal funding cuts and must act by october 15, with outreach roles most at risk. lahsa hopes to limit layoffs by moving employees into 125 vacant roles. leaders say the cuts reflect wider fiscal strains and shifting county funding plans.

It's designed this way

Not suprised oracle is laying ppl off. They’ve done 150+ acquisitions and the same thing happens every damn time... staff bail or get cut. This Has Happened MANY Times Before!!!!! oracle doesnt care about your job, they care about tech, customers, and $$$. once they buy a company, they gut the overlap, toss people they dont need, and shove the rest into whatever buzzword strategy they’re chasing (cloud, ai, whatever sounds cool to wall street). turnover there is already huge, so add an acquisition and yeah... ppl are basically walking severance packages waiting to happen. remember sun microsystems, peoplesoft, bea? same playbook. oracle buys, oracle cuts, oracle moves on. so if you’re shocked, idk what to tell you. layoffs are not a bug in oracle world, they’re the feature. ....
