Laid off after 22 years, and I can’t sleep. I worry about the immediate future and my job prospects as all the companies that would hire me are going into lean mode. I’m also suffering existentially, thinking about AI and what the job market looks like for anyone a decade from now. What’s everyone else doing to prepare? It feels like savings and emergency funds won’t be enough at some point. For the first time in my life my future is foggy along with everyone else’s. I’m having trouble coping and I keep doomscrolling this forum, and I know it’s not healthy, but I don’t know what else to look at for comfort.

Do you think there will be another layoff soon?
Anybody have the inside scoopetypoop?
Layoffs are not done yet.
Sr. Manager here. I read this board every so often but, please don't get complacent and feel like you are safe right now. Unfortunately, it's not quite done. Last week was the majority but there is another round this coming Monday. I have 5 meetings with HR and my directs that I don't want to be in next week. Good luck .
Good Luck to You All
After my manager finished reading the HR script, he said to me, “Good luck", and I replied, “Good luck to you too". I truly meant it. I know many of you, like me, have wanted to leave this toxic place but haven’t, for various reasons. I sincerely wish the very best for all of you who are still at Cisco.
LR’d yesterday .. just politics
Just got LR’d yesterday, G10 RTP Collab. The team environment was politically charged and pathetic. Only bootlickers are safe. Not sure how I made this far in the group.
Those laid off in June - did you get your PSP bonus last week?
Posting for someone I know who got let go in June but did not receive their PSP last week, which was unexpected since they were still on the payroll post May 31. Was wondering if others experienced this or what the next steps should be?
Dell Ireland
Does anybody know whats ahead for Dublin?
A lot have gone in the last week but are more cuts ahead in the short to medium term?
Have also heard they are trying to cut the package from 6 weeks to 2 weeks per year in the next round.
Is this legal or can anyone give any feedback from a legal standpoint?
Future exits
With all the changes taking place at OpenText, when do you think there will be a layoff or exits of non performing sales reps.
Keep your head up!
Hi everyone - not necessarily a speculative post on what may come post the earnings call however sharing a dose of care to those reading this. LRs for the most part are decisions made on the role - not the individual. So, should you be wishing for an LR and it does happen, then I wish you all the best. Should it happen unexpectedly for you, take some time for self care, rewind and reset - we all deserve it. And, be assured that you will be OK, and perhaps even better than OK (well, from those I have spoken to in the past at least). Let's all support each other everyone. LR may come, it may not but let's all check in each other as the world needs it more than ever.
Want severance? Just say no!
Just a PSA to all you burnouts (I am one of you) that you can just tell your boss "no." And you can do it a whole bunch before Optum fires you. Working for a company with an accountability problem means your boss is a coward who really doesn't want to confront you on your sh-t. It's also super likely that he or she is a parasite who is entirely dependent on your work for their survival. Most of them need you more than you need them. And, most are holding off on firing people so they have candidates to sacrifice for the next month's RIF. You want some of that sweet severance? Tell your boss "No" for a few months. I promise you'll be less burnt out and you'll be at the top of that RIF list.
I love you all. Break the chains
Feb 2024 Layoff
How are folks doing from the Feb 2024 layoff? Anyone still watching sometimes this board?
Who's getting hit?
Just IT today? Sounds like a lot of people are being laid off. Wishing the best to everyone affected.
CHQ Layoffs Today
Rumor is there are some layoffs/RIFs happening in the CHQ segment. Anyone hear anything?
Are they really going for 10%?
Good luck to everyone.
ERP - anyone still on the fence?
Any more intel on coming RIFs or numbers that have accepted ERP?

Cruise Layoffs Continue in San Francisco and Sunnyvale
San Francisco and Sunnyvale, California
- Cruise, the autonomous vehicle company owned by GM, has laid off another 101 employees as it pulls back from robotaxi development. The affected workers span three Bay Area locations, including the headquarters. These layoffs follow earlier cuts of nearly 1,000 positions and come after a pedestrian incident and subsequent permit suspension. GM is shifting focus away from public robotaxi services to internal testing and integration of Cruise technologies with its broader driver-assistance systems.
Oshawa Layoff in 15 Bullets
- GM is cutting 750 jobs at its Oshawa Assembly Plant due to U.S. tariffs, moving from three shifts to two starting this fall.
- The plant currently employs around 3,000 people, and the change could ripple across the supply chain, affecting another 1,500 workers.
- Unifor union president Lana Payne condemned the decision, calling it reckless and accusing GM of trying to gain favor with Donald Trump.
- GM confirmed 700 workers will be impacted, but avoided using the term "layoffs," saying it will support affected employees through the transition.
- The cuts are linked to a 25% tariff imposed by President Trump on all vehicle imports to the U.S.
- GM says the move is based on forecasted demand & trade conditions, and the plant will refocus on building trucks for Canadian customers.
- The Oshawa facility builds Chevrolet Silverado trucks, which are also produced in the U.S. & Mexico.
- Payne said GM is required to provide six months' notice and that the union will fight the decision during that period.
- Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed sympathy & warned of consequences for companies not acting as partners in protecting Canadian jobs.
- Payne called GM’s timing premature, given that Carney & Trump are scheduled to meet soon for trade talks.
- Unifor urged the government to reconsider GM’s tariff-exempt status under Canada's remission framework.
- Ontario Premier Doug Ford called the news “extremely tough” but said GM reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the Oshawa plant.
- The Windsor Stellantis plant is also shutting down temporarily, though no connection to tariffs was made.
- A recent update clarified that CUSMA-compliant auto parts are exempt from the 25% tariff, but Payne says this does nothing to help Canadian assembly plants.
- The union believes GM will reduce exports to the U.S. & shift Oshawa’s focus to the Canadian market, which may not match American demand levels.
Big security layoffs coming in FY26
SS is cleaning house in EMEA and the Americas! This is long overdue. Half of that organization is completely worthless!
Huge EMEA layoffs expected in March?
Is this information confirmed? I've heard this rumor many times, but none of the details seem reliable. If anyone knows anything for certain, please share. It's better to be prepared, I guess.
@layoff.com why are you allowing gossip, rumors and defamation of people’s character to continue to be said on here? It’s comical and disgusting the rumors people are spreading not to mention nothing is actually anonymous on these sites. It takes one person to take these to court and all of the who is saying what about who will be exposed.
So to the so called know it alls posting. Actually fact find and know the truth before posting your rumors or gossip. Some of you have to be very old to remember such stuff and you are an adult. Act like one. #layoff.com do better at scrubbing your site. This is supposed to be for layoff information.

Pregnant and got LRed
I just told my team I am pregnant few weeks ago and now I have a 1:1 with my manager tomorrow for the LR. Is this even legal, what should I do? I am so stressed out and my health insurance will be lost.
Can i negotiate severance package ?
I am part of RIF about 2 weeks back and the health care insurence company they gave 6 weeks off Severance package.. but we all know it’s a pre planned one they hired in india last year October and forced to give knowledge transfer and then followed by poor rating with no comments or reason given and now they announced layoffs. I am not convinced it’s a RIF as even after layoff team mates from offshore forcing and sending messages for KT . Can I challenge as it was unfair with HR dept as I deserve better Severance package. I disagreed with rating as no written or verbal reason given for poor performance and after rejecting rating still no reply from my manager. #layoff #severance
Biggest cost reduction should not come from its people cost (linkedin post)
By 2025, #Intel plans to #eliminate up to $10 billion in costs annually by restructuring its operations and #sales departments and focused on the development of domestic foundries.
Intel is in a bad situation right now. Since the $280 billion #CHIPSAct deal has been signed, Intel could not wiggle around by delaying the building of new fab in Ohio, which it broke ground on earlier this year, and has committed at least $20 billion to the project. In his #Reuters interview, #PatGelsinger did say that Intel’s people costs were a relatively small part of its overall spending, so the company is more focused on its factories and fabs as places to save money.
I still believe that Pat Gelsinger, as a renown #CEO, will save Intel from trouble this time. He knows that the biggest #cost #reduction should not come from its people cost. This is a little bit different with earlier announced that Intel layoffs are coming in Q4 as it cuts billions in spending. The factories and fabs overall operational cost should be the number one biggest cost. Since there is an oversupply of chip semiconductor after a huge shortage during the #covid19 pandemic, it is not wise to still ramp up and run the fab production as normal. There should be a swift adjustment to cut the production following the decrease on #chip #demand.
As far as I remember while still working at Intel, the company policy on people #wellness and #wellbeing is something that I really proud of. Intel put its people first. Intel has invested so very much on its employees. Intel has been awarded as the TOP 10 employers in Malaysia with its slogan "#aGreatPlaceToWork." That's why Intel will put #layoff plan as their last option to keep the business running.
I still believe that Intel could weather the storm this time around. With Pat Gelsinger, as a CEO, Intel's best year is yet to come. It certainly will come soon as long as Intel policy on its people do not change. Wishing Intel the very best of luck.

@Xu52VQ, I'm sure more people would like to know the answer to this, so I'm tagging this thread: #GOLD #layoff #personalitems
How to return items left behind by people laid off?
A coworker of mine was laid off on Monday and I know they were very upset and weren't able to collect all their personal things before being walked out.
Are we allowed to return their personal items or does hr have a process?
Sign or don't sign on #layoff day?
Usually they make you sign some documents, so what's the best thing to do?
Looks like they have again #ReEstablished the new #LayOff body count......The "Commercials" and #TimSloan both prove every day, that they are nothing but money grubbing double-talkers who can't stop the #Brand from ultimately collapsing....

@lqy same here - mostly younger folks were cut - i'd say this is a typicall #layoff and there is no #agediscrimination
For IT, it is Ensona. They are offering only a few #aflaclayoffs a position. #aflac is going to #layoff an additional 200 people within 6 months. #forbes should ask the #aflaclayoffs if they are really ethical.
