A Beautiful Day for a Ball Game

First you have to search for a parking space.
Next after the parking lot experience, your search for a desk will be pretty much fruitless so you work in a break area.
Then when you have to go you have to search for an open stall.

Three hours at a ballpark is manageable but 8 hours of trying to find a usable toilet is utter craziness and then to have your manager ask where were you I see you were away from your computer for 20 minutes.

Remote Employees

anyone have any intel on Phase 2 / timing? Will all remote workers be required to relocate close to an office ? Wondering if any management has been asked to prove the necessity of some of their remote people. Do we think exceptions will be made for those who were originally hired as remote employees ?

What happens if you work from two different locations same day?

Does it show that you’re not at assigned location if you take a meeting from another building but you’re at your assigned building for most of the day? Im in Minneapolis towers and sometimes asked to attend meetings from the other building downtown.

Just RTO, it’s not that hard!

I’m sick and tired of all the RTO complainers on here. If you don’t like it then you should leave. You complain and complain and yet you stay. No one is forcing you to be here. It’s time to buck up and go into the office like everyone else and like you all did before Covid. The company simply cannot afford to pay for your afternoon tennis lessons, golf rounds, 2 hour boozy lunches, laundry, Costco runs, child day care, etc. the list goes on and on. Too many people have been stealing from this company far too long and it ends now.

It’s very simple, just go to your designated office Monday to Friday from 9-5 as prescribed and be with your team members and actually work. I quite like RTO as do the majority of others here. Your colleagues are at the office. It’s time to Return to Oneness (RTO) and actually work.

Going into to an office to work with people not in the same office is d-mb

You all do realize most work from home people actually would go to an office if Verizon brought back our offices. I would but Verizon go rid of our building along with 20-30 other buildings over the last 10 years. My team is all over the country and no one lives in the same area... so going into a building to work virtually would be d-mb. Also, what is Verizon going to do fire all 12 people and keep 1 thats in a hub then backfill the 11 others or the 8 that are WFH? Its not as easy as you all think, getting rid of WFH or everything into a building would destroy workloads and knowledgeable assets already in place. Going into to an office to work with people not in the same office is d-mb, I thought all the climate change VZ activists would be protesting for protecting against my trucks carbon emissions going to an office anyways.

34 years ago tonight.

Hopefully to lighten the mood for some this evening while they enjoy an IPA or wine (or even scotch, Peter since we know you come back here often).

The record Halloween blizzard hit Minnesota inundating Twin Cities and Duluth both over 2 feet of snow.

Desi's 1st day of work as CEO was Friday Nov 1st. Somehow he showed up but people at 3M Center were given Friday off. Not sure about Cottage grove. I don't even remember how people were told but THAT 3M is a faded image of what is today. Sounds like SOLV is being ruined by Hanson.

Any fun times feel free to share as I head in after Halloween on the porch and get the 1st IPA of the night poured. Cheers!

Connect Week Policy?

Most of my connect weeks, I rarely stay the whole day... I usually do half days and then leave when the office clears out. I work 12pm-11pm est and think it's ludicrous to be sitting on a floor with one other guy at 9pm lol.

I was just told by a friend at my office that his manager told his team you're not required to be in office if you work this shift, because half of the shift is when the office is technically closed. He said it's an actual policy but it's hush hush. Has anyone heard of anything like this? He has rarely gone into the office and has never heard anything of it. I have also never heard anything for usually leaving around 6-7pm est... knock on wood.

My manager is also very lax about the office requirement and just says to do what you can lol.

Please file an OSHA complaint today - Please read

Hello Everyone -

There is not much we can do as employees to make our situation better. But, the one of the things we can and should do is file an OSHA complaint with OSHA. Please everyone reading submit an OSHA complaint today, but only if there is a safety hazard at your location. You can select an option so your name is not revealed to your employer.

If there is a legitimate safety hazard at your location, then you can fill out their online form and OSHA will take it from there. Lack of parking or reasonable access to the office building can all be taken as a form of a safety violation because it increases the risk of vehicle and pedestrian accidents. Your statements must be truthful, and there are penalties for submitting anything false.

Once submitted, OSHA will do an on-site inspection (often unscheduled) of the building you reported within weeks or months. If they find any safety hazards they take several escalating actions including citations, penalties, required corrective action, re-inspection, and whistleblower protection.

I have just submitted an OSHA complaint for 7 safety hazards I documented at 3400 W Plano Pkwy in Plano, TX. I encourage everyone reading this to please do this for your office if there are safety hazards and parking issues. This is the quickest way to get some noticeable change in our god awful buildings we call our offices.

Please like this post, and tell others either by word or on this site to do the OSHA as well. If multiple employees submit complaints to OSHA, that will put AT&T on their radar, and they would love to go after a Fortune 50 company that is being negligent.

More rodents in the office

A coworker of mine shared a picture he took of a rodent scurrying across the floor at the Colwell, Irving (Dallas) location. Isn't it lovely that employees continue to work in an office with this sort of issue? Reminds me of the Sky movie with Melissa McCarthy, where they had bats in the ceiling and droppings on the birthday cake at the office. Is this a RTO ploy to make more people leave? Drop a few rodents in the building every now and then?

3400 W Plano Pkwy - Issue

So AT&T calls this their main and flagship office location. This office is a pathetic excuse for an office. I feel like I am in a 3rd world country.

There is no parking. Cars park illegally everywhere and drive over the speed limit. The parking they do have available is far back out by the dumpster.

Once I do make the walk into the office all the desks are taken and I have to work from the cafe. I have already contacted real estate about the situation, and they told me this is their only and flagship office available for drop ins in the Dallas suburbs. When I pressed them about parking and desk shortages, they told me I can take a shuttle from 2900 W Plano Pkwy, which is their CDO office and lengthens my commute further.

This company is pathetic. We have billions of dollars in free cash flow, yet we cannot have a respectable suburb office. 5 day RTO to improve collaboration, but now I have park out by the dumpster in the back and work in the cafe while someone warms up their fish lunch.

This Beat Goes On / Switching to Glide

I am in Lenox. I have reserved a different conference room for the entire day every day this week. I will be selling co-ktails out of that conference room to supplement my income. Depending how week one goes I will continue. Bourbon, Vodka, Gin, Whisk-y, Tequila all top shelf stuff along with beer, wine, and seltzers. Roadies(Discreet To Go Containers) will be provided as well. Bailey's and Coffee for those in the AM hours who want to take it easy. Let me know if you are interested and I will provide details on location. We have to stick together in this environment and campaign of te---r against the employees. Nothing like getting loosened up and kicking back. Cheers!

It’s like a Twilight Zone episode

I came to the office at 228 a little late, this morning. It was about 9:30. I parked in my usual area - which wasn’t difficult since the lot was about 1/4 the number of cars as Mon through Wed.

I walked through quiet dim passage areas, going by conference rooms of various capacity, all boasting of being free all day. Then past the large collaboration area that only seems to have people collaborating for bagels every other Tuesday and occasional pizza.

So, “where is everybody? What happened to the mandatory RTO five days a week.
