Has anyone had their ADA recommendation from their Physician overruled and made to return to the office? Were you provided in-office accommodations?

I lost a good job because of location strategy. My medical note would have allowed me to stay on albeit remote, the problem is it would have needed to permanent. Was told that I'd have to keep recertifiying, and it would become invalid after certain amount of times.
So while the condition never improves, life changing and chronic, I had to end up being laid off (I had an option to relocate and an offer actually) After countless discussions with management, HR, recruitment, accommodations etc.
They recommended not taking it because the note would be denied after a point. So they wouldn't do it if it was them. Four opinions discouraging if you will.
I believe I was well in my rights too. The ADA acts 1990 2008. Successfully met all the requirements needed to get a wfh exception, received it based on the fact company could not accommodate me for my condition in office and remote work was allowed during covid, so in turn, holds no undue hardship.
@hd but doesn't the company fully support disability diversity and inclusion?
By not allowing wfh permanently for a health condition, doesn't that seem like a conflict of interest, values?
@gd And you sound like an imbecile. A wart on society's a-s. Keep accepting those pennies for all that money you make WF. I probably make more than you any way LMAO!!!
@bh 10 years ago I didn't have a 100% Permanent & Total Disability Rating from the VA, but conditions tend to get worse over time especially for those injured in traumatic incidents.
The physician can only document the situation/condition and attest to the disability.
ADA doesn’t require a specific accommodation for specific conditions. Once the condition is documented, it requires that the company propose accommodations that don’t create “undue hardship” and engage in an interactive process. WFH can be one of those accommodations.
No accommodation is permanent, even if the condition is permanent
@cz you type like a BOT!! Get the fu-k outta here with your pandering to OP.
You sound like you are a teller, or some bottom level branch employee. As do most of the pople here.
Some of us are actually in rev generating positions and like to see the trash that is posted here. It honestly makes my days and the downvotes make it even better. LMAO!!!
@bh You do realize that disabilities aren’t always lifelong and can happen at any time, right?
@bh you apparently need an accommodation for lack of humanity and inability to comprehend some people have a legitimate medical reason to request an accommodation. Based on your response I’m going to assume you’re an entry level employee because an intelligent, professional, and competent person would have abstained from commenting. I suggest you google the big words so you can understand my post.
@bm do you know how extensive the form is for your doctor?
I just had a short term accommodation request approved to telecommute for medical reasons. I emphasized my request was only for a few months while going through treatment. The approval process took 1.5 months to go through! Met life was great at first but then delayed everything. It was extremely difficult to get any updates. Their website had no info about the claim. I finally complained that the time it was taking to approve the claim was unreasonable and could be violating the ADA. After that call things went fast.
The other options they gave was to reduce hours in the office or less days in the office. Neither made sense in my situation.
The form for the doctor is quite extensive. If your doctor fills it out and your manager is ok with telecommute you should have no issue. Long term requests may be more difficult.
Its amazing what lengths human trash will go to avoid an honest days work.
Holy fu--ing sh-t just get your a-s in the office or find a job that accomodates fully remote work. Fu--ing he-l! What were you doing 10 years ago?
The company is not required to give you a remote accommodation if there is another way they can accommodate your “disability”.
Have you requested to lessen the time? I think they are trying to get everyone in but they should accommodate to reduce your days
They will do almost anything they can to accommodate you in the office.
