Hybrid Policy

Any news on the hybrid policy and potential changes to it? I’ve heard rumors, but they swirl all the time. I feel like it was this time last year they made some significant changes.

With costs continuing to rise, all associates who weren’t lucky enough to be allowed to continue to work from home for one reason or another (seems like the rules change depending on who you are) are suffering.

As an associate who was hired to work from home, I am trying to wrap my mind around what the company is trying to accomplish. I do not see a whole lot of collaborating going on in the office - in fact most associates are sitting in cubicles on top of each other, all on different calls.

FTS RTO?

Has anyone got any clarity on this?
Like from FTS HR?

My contract states hybrid, but there's legal ease in there... I really can't go in full-time and would not have taken or applied for a full-time in-office role since it is not feasible for me. Worst case, I could ask my FTS and let folks on here know what I hear...

But FTS is most of the time beyond useless and just gives you a vagus runaround on things.

This is a twofold issue.

They took away our precovid lives where we had fun going into the office we had colleagues to associate with and life was normal.
They forced us home locked us in and then wonder why we’re adverse to going in after we have proven we are extremely productive wfh. So they created this mammoth paradigm shift and get huffy when we push going back. Going into an office every week every day is so 1980’s the big corps started planning for pandemic scenarios they got what they wanted and forgot they had massive real estate holdings and empty offices.
No you don’t get to keep changing the rules. We’ve adapted and we like autonomy not slogging in with ridiculous traffic and gasoline at $5
This is the modern office HYBRID!

Merch RTO 4/22

Today, Cara Sylvester shared that 150 TMs had their remote roles changed to Minneapolis-based hybrid. Impacted TMs seem to be concentrated in core IM and planning, as well as some PIM Ops TMs as well. They stated that they are providing relocation assistance or separation packages.

50% in office for hybrid employees....what a joke

If you wanted less work done in the office, more communicating/chit chat/wasting time. That's what you'll get. Add on the added costs for employees, pets who will now be unattended after spending 6 years with their owners at home...I'm sure that will go great for everyone!

Can't wait for this to backfire like every other decision leadership seems to make lately.

We're #2! We're #2! We're #2!

CATA's Pre/Post Covid

How many CATA's have we had between 2015-2020 VS. 2020-2025????

CATA's have doubled since Covid and the hybrid schedule! Wake up!!!!!

Get everyone back to the office or weed out the lazy complacent ones that don't put forth the effort from home! It's not rocket science. I know the mandatory 4 days is coming but it needs to happen now! Stop worrying about feelings and daycare! That's half the problem. Some work from home and save on daycare but spending more time dealing with kids than working. VZW has this data already and they know as do the shareholders.

Which orgs/teams are hybrid/remote?

I know they exist. I see the people in webphone. So, why are they the exception? I see job posting with “5 days in-office”, but clearly, that’s not always the case. Applying internally, are all the jobs genuinely gonna be 5 days in office still?

There are so many opportunities I would love to see through, but I am not gonna commit to another job with 5-day mandatory office. I can’t do it anymore.

Discrimination - Hybrid vs Office

How can this position be labeled hybrid if we’re required to be in the office five days a week? Isn’t that misleading and discriminatory? I’m really frustrated that this exists in our company.

"This position is hybrid, and you may be expected to go into Bratislava office 2+ days per week."

Reconsider rolling back to Hybrid, the industry standard

Last week’s snow related remote work has shown what flexibility actually delivers. Without long commutes and constant office disruption, productivity increases, work gets completed faster, and people are willing to put in more time because they have the capacity to do so. That does not happen under a rigid five day office mandate.

Five days in the office adds cost and friction without measurable gains. Real collaboration can happen in two to three days when needed, which is already the market standard. For distributed teams, forced presence changes nothing except morale.

Talent has already responded. High performers with options have left. Those who remain are disengaging. The employee survey made this clear.

As a communications company, forcing presence while selling “work from anywhere” is a strategic contradiction. Remote work for office roles is inevitable. The only question is whether we lead or fall behind.

RTO

Remote workers, sorry, you saw a real impact. As for all the doomsayers saying no more work from home or hybrid, you were WRONG! Always bringing this up during layoffs cause you are too worried about where someone is doing their job. foh!

Ergonomics went out the window … RIP

Manila, Argentina, engine don’t have RTO: they are still hybrid. Why?
What’s the point in the US to have a free for all “find a place” seating?
New spaces are GREAT if you do not care about any ergonomics whatsoever.
When are 1500 office workers moving to 1400 so they can spend $100k+ building floors with glass and non adjustable chairs?

When are the packages coming again?
Makes me so sad - you?

Verbiage in Job Posts on Intranet

I have only reviewed a few postings so far, but now included is “Please note that per our policy on hybrid/virtual work, candidates not within commuting distance from the posting location(s) will NOT BE CONSIDERED for employment, unless an accommodation is granted AS REQUIRED BY LAW.”

Fully remote are stuck in their positions unless there is a policy change or they are RIF’ed.

WARN for you future hybrid RIFs

I asked HR some detailed questions about how WARN was applied for hybrid employees. They said remote locations didn’t meet the threshold, so they only provided 30 vs 60 days. I didn’t agree with how they explained it, but that was their final position. One thing I’d say is if you’re affected in a future RIF, don’t rush to sign anything. Ask how your work site was defined and how employees were counted, especially if you’re hybrid or remote. The lawyers do this by design. Severance is structured to neutralize WARN leverage. The release explicitly waives WARN and that’s intentional. If you’re hybrid or remote, WARN isn’t just about where you sit it’s about where you’re managed, assigned and counted.

Ford planning to build EREV

Ford is copying what China has been delivered during that last 2 years. 600 to 800 miles range hybrids. Basically, hybrids with large hybrid battery that will provide at least 100 miles instead of 20 miles range. That is good that Ford is learning something good from China.

Farley isn't giving up on EVs even if Model e bleeds more cash.

Ford + Renault partnership for new small EVs in Europe only and the vehicles are schedule to hit the market in 2028. Like the VW partnership for the EV Explorer and Capri really did well. Late to the game in a market already being oversaturated by China.

CE1 is going full bore, Farley did not mention much about the Skunk during the townhall. Maybe his sweater was too tight?

Hybrids an EREVS were mentioned, which is logical.

Does Ford really think they can beat China so late to the race? Verstappen cannot even win this one!
