Collaboration?

So I witnessed to following: I was in WHQ, in an open space on one of the floors. The area had 4 small collaboration tables and an area with workstations. A group of 3 workers sat at one of the collaboration tables to hold their meeting. A man, who was working at the workstation got up, approached the group and told them to leave. He said that they were disrupting him and he couldn't concentrate. The group got up and left but one of the joked about not being able to collaborate. The funniest part is that, within a few minutes after the group left, the man got up and left for about an hour (I assume lunch). I wonder if this goes on all the time.

You can't take the 'G' hetto out of Gainwell

I believe the title says it all. Another week of sc--w-ups followed by upper management and executives acting like school yard bullies in meetings.

But if you get caught not managing resources and tasks correctly, it's just natural to be on the defensive, tell half-truths or complete lies to cover your butt. Or divert attention away and towards another person, etc.

keep him away

one thing i used to enjoy in corporate sales was the little game of keeping managers away from customers.

it was never about being mean, it was about survival. a manager in a meeting could turn a smooth sales call into chaos. they would talk too much, go off topic, or stumble on details that mattered to the client. i knew that keeping them out of the room protected the deal, and honestly, it protected me too.

every month during one-on-one check-ins, the question would come up: why am i not joining your customer appointments? i would put on a serious look, pull up my calendar like i was searching, and act thoughtful. after a pause, i’d say something like, i might have something next week where your help could be useful.

of course, i never followed up. no invites ever went out. by the time the next month rolled around, the same conversation would repeat, and the cycle kept going.

that small trick kept my meetings cleaner, my customers happier, and my sales life a whole lot easier.

Why so many pointless meetings?

Why do we need several meetings to decide something that should take five minutes? It looks suspiciously like people just drag stuff out to make themselves look busy. Meanwhile, I’m doing real work and stressing about layoffs, and they get praised for this nonsense.

Age Limit & Term Limits

You’ve got Bd Members age 89, 86, 79,79, 72, 68 and so on. In the past, there were board members over 90 and 100 yrs old. Plus, no term limits. When is the next bd meeting ? Any word on Boca people and property sale ? Outsourcing to India or other countries ? What is the latest on projected layoffs ?

What were the signs?

To all folks who have been laid off or know someone who was laid off by Cigna, what were the signs?

I’m talking about everything you noticed from management disengagement, anything “off” or not that lead to that last minute meeting

This could be helpful to reduce shock value to a lot of us who will probably get that WebEx meeting sometime in the future.
