Frontier and Ireland

I think some have asked and didn't get answers but I just heard on an all hands call today that some at Frontier as well as some from Ireland were included the last round of cuts. I didn't work with them personally but a lot of people on the call did and said loosing them was hard after everything they had contributed. I don't know the details like whether the work was offshored or just not needed but it is what it is. Odd since a lot of what we did was offshored to Ireland over a year ago.

UK, Ireland, Canada

In the All Hands yesterday Niraj confirmed expansion of physical stores to the UK. They're actively seeking out their first location.

He also stated that they are committed to UK, Ireland and Canada with a strengthening market share in those regions.

Obviously there are no guarantees in business but it was a nice rebuke of that "Something Big Brewing" poster on 15th June.

Verizon Hiring Engineers in Ireland?

Anyone else see the recently posted engineering positions in limerick Ireland? It looks like they are targeting fresh graduates. I have a few problems with this:

  1. Weren’t all international operations sold to BT?

  2. Why Ireland when our network is based in the United States?

  3. These would be good positions for associates looking to move into engineering. Why are they looking outside the company when people inside the company would want these jobs.

Something big brewing

I am hearing, atleast from few different levels that they are planning to do mass layoff in Ireland and maybe UK, and eventually exit UK like Germany..not rumors but actual talks. Can't share where and who coz i might get into trouble.

I mean I'm already seeing signs for UK, decreasing headcount each year, only bit up due to German relocation, not much profit and announcements of Canada physical store plans and aggressive US stores plans- they would need money and UK might be bleeding more money and resources.

I would be very proactive to look for jobs given perfect storm brewing.

What are your thoughts on the CEO's recent email announcing a new investment to create additional roles in Ireland?

He mentioned helping clients innovate through agentic AI, trusted data infrastructure, and other technology investments. Do you see this as a positive sign of growth and future opportunities, or are you taking a wait-and-see approach?
How do you think this investment will impact employees, clients, and future hiring?

Opentext Ireland

Fantastic to see Shannon in Ireland this week with the announcement around growth (despite hating who she was standing alongside) . One thing we are in Ireland is a mecca for IT, put simply if you do not have an Irish presence in Europe, globally shut the doors. Let's go!!

More of the Same Old

https://www.medtechdive.com/news/medtronic-to-create-european-software-hub-in-ireland/820999/

Now we’re back to the usual agenda of outsourcing whenever possible!

“The Patient Care Systems hub will develop cloud-based platforms and clinical software to support connected care for patients with implanted cardiac devices, according to a Thursday statement from economic development agency IDA Ireland. The investment will add 85 jobs initially. New roles at the site will include leadership, software engineering and systems reliability positions.”

LAYOFFS TE Dublin

New push. Collective redundancy. First round today with many more to come this year. Not based on performance as all the usual wasters still hanging on. If you are still there you need to jump immediately. Dublin to fully close by the end of the year. Ireland Employment Law a massive issue. Everyone engage your solicitors do not be bullied. Give Bravo a financial headache. WRC scares them.

All Epic positions moving fully to Ireland

In recent meeting, we were told to expect all current and new Epic positions moving to Ireland. Apparently Epic is Ireland's national system. Never assume your job is secure. They will find a way to outsource when ever possible. I wouldn't be surprised if our entire division gets sold off soon.

Ireland & UK - office closures

Cork, Liverpool, Poole how are you doing? Any updates on when offices expect to close? Are any of you offered BAH contracts or relocation?

Wexford employees who are now BAH, did you get a new BAH contract where it says you may have to return to office or how is it working for you?

Any updates?

So far, it seems like folks in Ireland have been having a rough week. Nothing yet here, as far as I can tell. The newest rumor is that the big round might happen in the second half of November.

I honestly don’t know what to think anymore. This whole ordeal - the escalating rumors, the lack of official communication, and the high likelihood of layoffs, whether large or not - is making me really, really stressed and exhausted.

Sales team and support reps laid off in Ireland

Looks like the whole sales team was axed, and some tech support people were laid off too

1 day after the execs flew over from the US to tell us about how they were happy with the work and with the growing headcount. would have been more decent to just not say anything...

how is it looking in other locations?

Public Policy Ireland Celebration!

Wasn’t it great to see the person that represents Verizon to Congress to help offshore jobs, go to Ireland where those American jobs were moved to and celebrate it on LinkedIn? Leadership personified! Exhilarating and exciting indeed. Can’t wait to see what lives and communities they offshore next!
