Meeting overload

My calendar’s full, my work isn’t getting done, and half these meetings could’ve been emails. Who’s benefiting from this system, because it certainly isn’t any of us who actually have things to do?

@cn maybe if you tried harder and partied less in your 20s you’d be sitting pretty at an L4 or L5. Life’s choices.

Invite Stink to a few of them. Then you can justify not going if he doesn't show either.

So accept the meetings, slap some more on your calendar yourself, then say you have a conflict and can’t join. You must be new at this.

“ OP is saying he has meetings scheduled for Christmas, not fiber splicing. I don't think that is happening”

I’m not talking about field work either. At least those guys get paid extra for all that. We don’t.

Fiber is starting to mitigate a lot of weather issues for the outside folks unless it is pretty severe. But perhaps some can remember 2-3 days of heavy rains and the subsequent service emergencies. You worked regardless. A doctor appointment better include some type of transplant to be excused.

“ Your calendar is full?? On Christmas?? Hard to believe, try again.”

Some folks have to work nights, weekends and holidays. The network group is 24/7/365 and especially during severe weather. Most people think this is a 9-5 M-F but is actually not. Maybe just your little slice of heaven. I have had to work 18hrs straight on Christmas Day and I was supposed to be off. It does happen.

OP If the work doesn’t get done, then the work doesn’t get done. That’s the environment exec has created. So, that’s the result they get. Just document what you’re doing and how long it’s taking to prove your existence when they start bi--hing. Beyond that, 8 and skate!

You can opt out of many of those meetings, you know.

RTO has ki-led all motivation. Show up, swipe in, sit and socialize for 8 hours, leave, repeat. This won’t change until RTO ends.

Nothing being accomplished guarantees there’s more work to do tomorrow. Lol

@OP

Those of us that don't care about the company or the work feel pretty good about it.
