Everyone in the company should do a sick call out!! Legally the company cannot make you attend a meeting or perform work( which is what a layoff meeting is) if you are out sick. It doesn’t change the end result— just messes their plans up, and gives you a sense of control in this.

They will just call you on your personal phone to advise you are being laid off. They did it to my friend, called her numerous times leving vm's to call them back. THEY DONT CARE!!!
I hear you, but got to be real... even if half the company were to call in sick tomorrow, It wouldn't make me 'feel' like I'm in control- I have more sense to know you can't control a cold-hearted $360 billion beast. You really think they would panic? Please.
Whether we’re chillin’ at home in our pajamas or sitting in those depressing-a-s cubicles, that 'Position Eliminated' email is gonna hit us all the same. Remote or in-office, it doesn't matter—to them, we aren't even people, we’re just dollar signs they’re about to delete from the budget.
Seriously think about it... We stay home sick, and then what? Some HR puppet is gonna be sitting on an empty Teams call talking to a bunch of black squares, or standing in a deserted conference room reading a dry script to the wallpaper. They don't care if none of us are there to hear it.. They’ll just whisper the severance package to the ghosts while a bot is already in the back system-crushing our laptops and snatching our badge access before we can even finish a cough.
And while we’re all at home nursing that fake fever, they’re already offshore, hittin' 'Copy-Paste' on our whole lives, in India and the Philippines, for pennies on the dollar and saying 'thank you'.
We’re just making it easier for that AI to flip the switch. This empire isn't looking for us anymore—they already replaced us with a global dial-tone 8,000 miles away.
@OP This site is packed with juveniles making d-mb comments but this one is high on the d-mb list. Go ahead call in... Nothing changes and their plans aren't impacted in the slightest. If you get let go it su-ks, dust off and strip forward... That's what adults do. SMH
The term date is still the same regardless, and putting off the notification potentially delays severance as well as redeployment resources that are only available to impacted employees through the term date.
The whole thing su-ks, but if you suspect the meeting is a layoff notice, imo it's best to rip the bandaid.
Yeah I mean I wouldn’t let it interrupt a day off or sick day. You are not getting any work done anyways.
@a6 I won't say area but it was for 8:30 AM
@a5 what area do they work in? I checked my email around 8:30pm central time and didn’t have anything yet.
I know someone who got the invite for Friday morning. Came out tonight.
Reading IS fundamental…. No? OP said it won’t change the end result just messes their plans up and puts you in more control instead of being a lamb waiting for the sla-ghter. Jeez…..
Still fired though....
