Medtronic stopped hiring people on visas below principal level

Looks like HR added this statement to all jobs online,

Good luck to all

U.S. Work Authorization & Sponsorship

At Medtronic, we are committed to fostering an environment where employees can thrive and make a meaningful impact. In alignment with our enterprise-wide workforce planning approach, U.S. work authorization sponsorship (H-1B, TN, J, etc.) is offered exclusively for Principal-level roles and above, where specialized expertise aligns with long-term business needs. Roles below the Principal level require candidates to possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.

“Redeployment Partner”

I was one of the recent folks who got laid off. My “redeployment partner” was worthless. I would email the jobs I applied for and either I’d get a response days later or no response at all. Has anyone had a similar experience?

If so, I feel like this area could have jobs eliminated and keep others employed who are beneficial.

Contractors gone?

My area is getting rid of our contractors, and not backfilling even after a large VSP leave. Checking to see if other areas are experiencing the same in the very near future. Is CF trying to get the rest of us that’s left to just quit? Entire company has fallen apart more in the past few months, just when I thought it couldn’t get worse but yet HR pretends we’re stronger than ever? Have they read comments from our members or providers or even employees? Leadership definitely doesn’t know how to read the room.

Everyone at the office says the same exact thing about HR and AI.

If you want to trim away the useless, then start with HR. Just keep the bare bones skeleton crew, let the HR chatbot and AI do the rest of that work. If Citi AI can’t handle the mundane low hanging fruit HR work, then it has no place trying to be wedged into anything more complex or technical.

If it can’t be developed enough, tested enough and rock solid enough to handle the HR work load, then you have business trying to make it do anything more complex. It’s like trying to use a calculator that can’t add or subtract to perform advanced algebra. Use the HR role as your live test bed. Once you get that part down, you can then showcase what a success it is in all you little ppt slides and THEN move on to something more complex.

You're being gaslit

Pay equity? That's a massive raise for the CEO and "meaningful increases" for low-mid rank salaries, but 2 years of 0% awards for director level and above.

HR said to focus on total comp but oh dear what's that you say cumulative inflation since Covid is nearly 30%? No time for any more questions I'm afraid.

IBM recruiting/hiring/promoting practices are abhorent

What is the over under for how many times IBM goes out of it's way NOT TO HAVE ANY WHITE MALES here in the link below and how many times they OVER USE "DIVERSITY" in this weak attempt to keep the z mainframe from? 7!!! So diversity means anything NOT white and not male over 35? How much more blatantly DEI and WOKE can IBM get recruiting/hiring/promoting based on age, s-x, skim color? Disgusting.

https://community.ibm.com/zsystems/mainframe-skills-council/

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal law prohibiting employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, s-x (including pregnancy, s-xual orientation, and gender identity), and national origin. It applies to employers with 15 or more employees, including state/local governments, unions, and employment agencies.

Enhanced Performance Monitoring

How are we all feeling about this? Direct result of end of year?
Heard that it's a way to get mutual separation without having to go through redundancy process.

HR will clearly be company focused but anyone appealing it? Getting any concrete answers?

I feel for anyone going through this. Keep the head up and don't let them bully you!

People with Disabilities

This company loves to bully people with disabilities with micro-aggressions from management and HR. This place used to once welcome everyone and be accommodating but it feels like they are doing whatever they can to get rid of people. It’s very uncomfortable going to work anymore.

2025 STI 401k contribution

I had set up a 6% 401k contribution on my bonus payout to get the full company match. However, the 2025 STI payout paycheck doesn't have any 401k deduction. Therefore, I am guessing there won't be a company match. Anyone else seeing this? I have reached out to HR via email for clarification.

She reported it to HR — what the lawsuit alleges happened next was far worse

A federal lawsuit accuses AT&T of failing to address explicit content in a workplace group chat — then retaliating when the employee spoke up.

I want to repost this because how accurate it is

Listen up people, we need to clear up this toxic work environment by documenting and reporting. First start with HR. Then legal.

Or just go straight to legal.

This is a comment I came across from a thread posted not to long ago. Thank you to the OP if you are reading this. It sad to say but it brings comfort for the misery and he-l I am in. Major karma points for you and blessings.

“It’s almost as if you wrote my story, though I’m in the middle of the mess. You absolutely know when there’s a target on your back. You absolutely know when you are shunned and isolated. You know when there is backstabbing because others are insecure and need someone else to blame. And all of it takes a toll. If you speak up, it’s used against you somehow. “Not a team player”, “these are areas you need to grow in”. If you don’t speak up you end up in a slow and silent downfall, and then that’s used against you, with the same line “not a team player”.
So I’ll just add one piece of advice to everything you’ve shared, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!!! Move in silence and keep factual note. Screen shot conversations, use Copilot, write down face to face interactions daily.”

Check your Payroll

Did you also see $300 wellness spending account showed up as taxable benefit on your pay slip even though you haven't made claim for 2026?

As a matter of principle this could cause inaccurate personal tax reporting. Just the sheer of incompetence. Opened a ticket and still waiting.

Let's see if another gong show happening on April 1 with HR system transformation.

Issue with vacation balance post RA

Hello - Any people who underwent IBM RA got underpaid on their final vacation balance
Although i emailed my supervisor before hand they reduced my vacation balance to zero after RA even though not a single vacation was taken and when i contact them they just give me generic response nor provide any proof. anyone went through this with them .. never though such a big company would make up stuff like this.

s-xual harassment

I’m reaching a breaking point with my manager’s behavior. He continues to make inappropriate touching, comments and requests, despite knowing that I’m married(he is divorced). His conduct is unprofessional and unwanted, and it has created a very uncomfortable work environment. I’ve considered reporting it to HR, but I’m concerned about potential retaliation or my work situation becoming even more difficult. Has anyone at EM dealt with a similar situation, and how did you navigate it?

Employee at Olathe Kansas Aero was terminated 2-23-26 over his Halloween costume

Suspicious, someone is terminated 4 months later over their Halloween costume.
Just goes to show you , cannot trust HR dept or Leadership team.
HR dept. needs to worry about getting employees paid correctly. Numerous payroll mistakes every pay period.

Still No Separation Agreement

My notice period is up, but I have not received my Separation Agreement paperwork. I reached out my the HR representative and was told it would take a few more weeks. This process seems extremely unorganized. Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you handle or escalate this issue?

When did our entire IT in-house become Indian? Clearly Nepotism hiring

I had to go to the Charlotte office last week, and met with the Public Cloud Team. I am talking 100% are Indians, and I am sure most are on H1-B visas. Nepotism hiring is clearly going on here, and we are going to be in trouble if rumors about what the current administration is going to implement later this year with Companies and their H1-B visa allotment.

Not to mention legally we are at risk if a non-Indian on the IT side files a legal complaint against us. I am not joking when I say 100%, how was this even allowed to happen. Certainly our HR department has to know this is going on, right????

How big does your yacht have to be?

Having worked here for a number of years we've all heard of the "restructuring" BS that has people in a constant wave of panic. Even though I am upset at how I was laid off, ultimately I'm glad and think this can help me in the future. Useless MD/D & SVPS that run the boat into the storm and never seem to face any repercussions for their actions. After a fairly tough year getting bad ratings seems to be the reason I loss my job but who can even tell. They claim my role has been eliminated, so here I am at home waiting to hear a call from HR. On another note I cannot reach out to HR it seems like this was a planned move on their part; giving managers a script to read to workers and absolutely no answers I feel like a sitting duck. And to any of the managers reading this that knew their workers were going to get cut but decided to tell them the day of the actual cuts. I hope you enjoy he**.

People solutions more like people problems

I have lost track of the number of times I have witnessed misconduct from hr/people solutions. Their sole purpose is to protect management/c-suite at all costs. Don't waste your time with them. Ignore the bad behavior until you can't take it anymore and decide to take your talents elsewhere.

RIF speed increasing. Just learned today

I've learned the old pattern of doing layoff's on Thursdays is being modified this year. They'll be doing them on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for the foreseeable future. There were folks let go yesterday and there was one today in Optum Health and HR, tomorrow is OT's day of reckoning.

Returning monitors

Are we returning monitors and docking stations?

I asked HR answers and they only itemized laptop and concession device. I specifically asked about desk equipment and they did not reply to that part.
Also in the severance agreement it mentions laptops/other computers and devices. Nothing about Monitors/docking station.

What do we all suggest? Anyone from the previous rounds have any input?

Is there any employee rules that state Boeing employees that have company provided laptops must be logged on during work hours?

I can’t find any specific Boeing rules stating that. I’m asking because I have not logged on my computer during my shift for months now except for about five minutes before my shift ends to input my work hours. Our manager has been out for months on LOA for family reasons. If HR contacts me, I’m really not sure how they can due to my not reading or responding to any emails sent to me. If HR gets lucky getting a hold of me, I’m going to tell them there is no specific employee rules stating that I must be logged in my computer during my work hours. The Code of Conduct we are required to sign does not specifically state employees with company provided computers must be logged in throughout their working shift. So I believe I’m safe and not going to worry about it.

Non Compete

Can anyone direct me on where to confirm in WorkDay / HR Central if I have a non-compete in place? I recall year over year attesting to one under Express Scripts; however since moving under Evernorth a few years ago, I don’t recall signing / attesting to one and cannot find anything in Workday.

JE decision

If there’s a manager, or HR… or whoever that knows this please, who is making the decision of who is eliminated from their team? Does this come randomly by HR or does manager have a say on who leaves?

Last week I did not come into the office but worked from home all week. I didn't tell my manager either. Friday afternoon I got a email from HR

about a Tuesday morning Teams meeting they want to do with me and that I do not need to be in the office for this meeting. I have been thinking if they caught me or not. In any given week I may see my Ford manager once if at all when we pass each other in the hallway. Manager is away from our group a lot saying they have a lot of meetings to attend to in other buildings.
I'm not sure yet if I will do Tuesday's morning meeting with HR at my home or go into the office an do it there.
