Will somebody please think of the poor shareholders?

Guys, let’s pleeeease all stop being greedy and wanting to keep our jobs. Here are some stats to show you guys how greedy you are:

  • Verizon ONLY made $5 billion in net income last quarter. That’s practically nothing
  • Worst yet, Verizon has ONLY made $20 billion in net income in the past 12 months. Practically bankrupt. Very unprofitable.
  • Headcount was down over 45,000 under Hans. That’s nothing!!
  • Since 2015, headcount is down ~80,000. Why not more!? Come on. Take one for the team, guys.
  • Our dividend is ONLY 6.93% so we only pay out $11.6 billion a year to our shareholders in dividends. This clearly isn’t enough.
  • Hans only made $24 million a year and Sampath only makes $13 million a year. This hardly buys you waterfront in The Hamptons.

You guys need to all stop being so greedy over paying your mortgages, your children’s college bills, and going to the supermarket.

We need to keep our shareholders and executives at the forefront of everything, because they are clearly suffering much more than we are.

I’ll be starting a GoFundMe soon because I doubt Dan Schulman’s bonus will be big enough, but I’m sure he has already asked Perplexity and brought it up at the dinner table with his family.

More layoffs to come

NEW YORK/TORONTO, Nov 5 (Reuters) - Wells Fargo (WFC.N), opens new tab CEO Charlie Scharf said on Wednesday he expects the U.S. bank's workforce to decline further as it focuses on efficiency.
"It's likely we'll have less headcount as we look forward ... we'd like to do much of it through attrition as possible," Scharf said in an interview, noting the bank had 275,000 employees when he joined in 2019 and a little over 210,000 currently.

Can we stop already with the AI bullsh-t?

What’s really happening is offshoring and cutting headcount. Once we reach the next “lean” stage and the workload triples, we’ll all discover that no AI actually took on any of the work. At least not in the sense of replacing anyone. I’ve yet to see a model that doesn’t hallucinate or need supervision. Sure, it can speed up some tasks, but that’s it. So can we finally stop using it as an excuse?

Constructive Discharge to Meet Final HC?

Constructive discharge…is this how Intel will reach the final headcount for the year? So many engineers are feeling the squeeze by ‘leaders’ who saved their jobs. Psychologically safety is definitely out the window along with ADA/DEI. Perhaps Intel should consider replacing their ‘Inclusion’ company value after the 2025 layoffs.

“ While initially the chief executive of Intel said that he planned to flatten the company and reduce the number of mid-tier managers, eventually it turned out that the company had axed thousands of engineers and technicians at its Oregon facilities. In fact, only 8% of personnel that were laid off in Oregon had the word 'manager' in their job titles, whereas all the others were various engineers or technicians in various support roles.”

How many of each level 4-9 are there at HQ?

Just curious if anyone has rough numbers on how many people are in each level from 4 to 9 at headquarters. I imagine some pyramids are heavier in 4s than others and so on.

If sources are saying 1000 actual people will be cut plus roughly 800 open roles, and levels 6-8 will be most impacted, how many 6 to 8s are there to even be cut in the first place?

Big meeting canceled on 10/23

So out of nowhere a large an all in meeting was canceled for the 23rd. This happened after all the rumors about next Thursday, and no message from Sr. Leaders as to the cancellation. 10/23 based on what happened seems accurate based on this event. What's crazy is our head counts is under where it should be and we are all over worked. So if cuts happen... please put me on the list. Im ready for a payout versus getting worked to death, constantly stressing about all the fire drills and leaders freaking out every hour, every day. The only question is what departments are getting hit, im guessing ours is based on the meeting being deleted.

Question about L1 Visas

I need somebody to confirm the specific type of visa we are using to bring people over from KLTC and BTC. After the recent layoff announcements I think it’s high time for employees to go on defense. Based on my own research I think there is a credible case to be made the company is violating the intent of the visas being granted. If so, it’s time for employees to start leaving anonymous tips to several government offices who could investigate (USCIS, Homeland Security Investigations, Dept of Labor inspector general). More on that later. I need somebody with SPECIFIC knowledge of how we are bringing people over to comment.

Here’s the situation I have observed for years now: employees from our overseas technical centers come to U.S. manufacturing sites for 1–2-year assignments. They’ve typically worked for the company abroad for a couple of years in process or technical support roles, then rotate into our entry-level plant engineer jobs here.

The company says this is part of a rotation program to build knowledge, but these engineers seem to be doing the same daily production-support work as U.S. college-hire engineers — not managing people or bringing unique proprietary technology. Many of these sites now have at least one rotational engineer on staff at any given time, which could give the impression this is not about training, but instead a cost reduction program. Paired with decreasing headcount at the same sites, it might give the impression these visas are being used to promote offshoring.

Does that kind of role meet the L-1A or L-1B definition? From what I’ve read, L-1A is for managers/executives and L-1B for specialized knowledge. What type of visa are these ex pats?

Would this typically be considered valid use of the L-1 category?

Headcount going to India in my organization

I have seen Headcount projections for my managers team of 103 people. Currently, 78 in the US and 25 in India. Future Headcount projection is 25im the US and 75 in India. I could not see a timeline for these projections. Our organization has almost 600 people. I can't see the projections for the other teams. I am not sure if it will affect the larger team, but my guess is it will.

Lionsgate Layoffs Will Trim Overall Staff By 50

Lionsgate will be reducing 5% of its companywide staff, Deadline has learned.

Approximately 50 staff overall will exit in a move that adds to a previous trim. The earlier layoff constituted 8% of staff, which will mean Lionsgate will have lightened its head count by 13% when this round of downsizing is done.

What’s the deal with India?

I joined Fiserv in BH earlier this month and confused by all the mentions of India. On many sheets with headcount and capacity planning, they list USA employees and India employees.

Is this company related to India?
Is offshore entirely India or are there other locations in EMEA or Latam?

Just not sure why they would only hire India for offshore if we’re not formally an Indian company by any means

Just confused by all this
