@OP Way too many architects and not enough builders. The structure is collapsing under its own title inflation.

Most are PowerPoint and meeting “architects”. Ask them to do real work at the keyboard and they bolt.

Around 600. You have to look at the complex systems, number of MSP resources, technology projects, geo-dispersed systems and business lines, etc. to fully understand why we would have 600. Is the number too high - probably. But most role are relevant. For all the complaining people do about EMIT, they’ve helped implement some pretty awesome tech in the last few years, especially in the business (Drilling, remote ops, automation, etc.), . Unfortunately on the IT Ops side, D Woods is still forcing us to use old tech and zero real AI because of risk. Don’t blame EMIT for that. It’s difficult to keep baling wire and cardboard boxes working when costs constantly have to go down and no vendors exist to support the old tech were forced to stay on.
