Pro Support. Has that all been outsourced?

I at one time worked in the Pro Support department for a year before I moved tf on from that god aweful job..

But I'm curious with all the layoffs in IT/tech support, is there even a US based Pro support team anymore?

I remember that one of the differences between pro support and pro support PLUS was that with PLUS, you were GUARENTEED to talk with someone in the USA.

Its only a matter of time...

Spoke to a customer today who has had a support ticket opened for months now... support and our product development have basically told him that they don't have the time to address his issue. Meanwhile the issue is a known problem which is effecting multiple customers. Cant share much more but all I can say is how do you expect to market and sale a product if we cant even support it ourselves?

Good Luck Today

If you are impacted by layoffs this week, remember it has little to do with your own performance. If you are retiring now, best of luck in your next chapter. If you are starting a search for a new role, wishing you the best of luck. Invest time in your search and resume building. Use your network. Be strong and resilient. This too shall pass. And you will be stronger!

Hey V-Teamers, share the questions you asked Perplexity before Sunday dinner

I asked Perplexity how do I explain to my children they are not going to college because I was laid off from Verizon? Thanks for the suggestion Dan!!

"Remind your child the situation is not their fault and that you are proud of them, regardless of where they go to college. Stay supportive and keep future conversations open as feelings and circumstances evolve.

Acknowledge that disappointment is natural but that together you can navigate these changes and seek alternatives. This approach will help your child feel seen and supported, and make it easier to tackle practical next steps."

For those who once cared -

Over the last year or two, this place has gone way off track. Morale’s at rock bottom. People are grating on each other mercilessly. We’ve got RTO mandates, turf wars over desks, and middle managers acting like it’s a contest to see who can show the least empathy. It feels less like Ford and more like the opening scene of Anyone But You - chaotic, tone-deaf, and completely detached from reality.

Executives talk about “transformation” but can’t seem to manage basic humanity. Families are being disrupted left and right child pickups, elder care, medical needs, nanny arrangements, all brushed off with the corporate equivalent of “we don’t care.” Instead of solving problems, leadership doubles down on punishment, turning “accountability” into cruelty. Somewhere along the line, we turned into a bad sequel to Office Space only this time there’s no stapler to steal, just another RTO badge swipe to prove you exist.

Yet here’s the thing: there’s nothing broken that can’t be fixed if your heart’s still in it. The people who post here, the ones who still speak up even through the noise are the same ones who once believed in this place. We cared. We showed up. We tried to make Ford better for our coworkers, our community, and the future we were building together.

If you’re having a rough time, I’m here for you in spirit. You’re not alone. At least one person at Ford is rooting for you, hoping you find your footing again, hoping you remember what it felt like when this place still had soul. We used to laugh here. We used to smile. There was a time when people genuinely looked out for each other. Now it’s like everyone’s trapped in The X-Files: trust no one.

All of us “perfect” people with the “perfect” lives seem to be locked in this quiet war, trying to survive, trying to look strong, and sometimes tearing each other down in the process. Still perfect-looking, maybe. But far from perfect, me included. I’m anxious, nervous, a little bitter at times. I don’t trust people the way I used to, even the ones I probably would’ve been friends with if the company showed a little heart.

I’ll be honest, there have been moments where I’ve cheered in the face of others struggling, not out of cruelty but from my own exhaustion, my own hurt. When you’re fighting to survive, you start finding light in the grimmest stories, just to remind yourself you’re still standing. And for that, I’m sorry. We’ve all been there. We’re all driven by love of this place, even when it’s buried under layers of anger and frustration. Sometimes we’ve inappropriately found cause for celebration in someone else’s pain because it meant our own survival. But no one truly hates you. No one here wants you to fail. That love is still there, even if it’s quiet.

We can all be cruel at times. That’s what makes us human. What matters is that we move forward, making the best of bad situations while still offering support to the people who need it most.

There’s still a chance to fix the vibe in this palce. But it starts with empathy, not metrics. Maybe we all need a little more Ferris Bueller and a little less Fight Club. Remember when we built things instead of tearing each other apart? Yeah. Let’s get back to that.

Wexford office closing permanently on Nov 28th

Note of Thanks to Dublin Office

Please pass along my sincere thanks to the Dublin team for their exceptional engagement over the past 12 months regarding the Wexford office closure.

Their responsiveness and clear, compassionate communication have been critical in managing redundancies and arranging remote-working transitions.

Key highlights include rapid coordination with HR and line managers, thoughtful one-to-one support for impacted colleagues, timely IT onboarding for remote roles, and the practical FAQs and check-ins that helped reduce anxiety and uncertainty. Their professionalism and empathy have made a difficult process significantly more manageable for everyone involved.

I look forward to enhanced support from HR and Management across this business lines during the month of November.

Unpopular Opinion

I was hoping for a different outcome than most of us here and must say.. I am completely disappointed to have received a safe email. I honestly wish I could take the spot of one of you who has invested way more into this. Anywho.. my prayers are with you all. I hope that your next road traveled is far greater and more fulfilling than Target ever could’ve been.

Things You Can Control

  1. Write LinkedIn recommendations on the profiles of those impacted. This helps in their job search.
  2. Update your own LinkedIn profile.
  3. Offer to share your network, make connections for others.
  4. If impacted, take full advantage of any job search help, career coaching, or upskilling opportunities.
  5. Reach out to anyone you feel may be struggling - get together for a walk or just chat over zoom.
  6. If you are struggling, reach out to literally anyone and get some support.
  7. Go outside. Fresh air, sun, exercise can all help. Take a shower, get dressed.
  8. If you’re not impacted, take today and feel all your feelings. It’s okay to be mad, scared, etc. Process it and move on.

Deadline for “unmapped” MROC associates?

I took ERP and have been gone more than a month (Hallelujah!) Hoping my friends who got laid off - the term “unmapped” was used - find new employment by the deadline, which should be around now. Anyone know the deadline to find new roles or other employment? Just don’t want to say the wrong thing to friends who are stressed and disrespected enough as it is. Thanks.

What’s the first thing you’d do if you got laid off?

I know a lot of people will jump straight into applying, but I plan to take a week or two to clear my head and just breathe. None of this has been easy, and I think taking a little time to calm down and reset is important. But I don’t have a partner or kids to support, so I know it’s easier for me to say that than for those who do.

Morale

I have to imagine that if we do survive that morale is going to be bankrupt here. I would rather have a job, but I hope people realize that they are very talented and we deserve better of our employer. Don’t settle for anything less. Let’s support our co workers who do get let go and keep fighting for the kind of careers we all want… which is hopefully not this.

Any RIF induced sueys ?

With so many long term people who have been there 20+ years getting axed, have there been any RIF induced sueys that anyone has heard of??

I reached out to someone who was still employed there just to see what has been going on but didn’t directly ask about any RIF, it’s been complete radio silence which is kind of unusual for this person. This is really hard for some people so I have really no idea how to approach people about these situations.

It’s almost exactly like not knowing what to say to people who are going through mourning and just had a loved one die or something similar to that, actually maybe even worse???

I always think back to that guy at Dell 2 years ago in Texas, he had been there over 20 years and then got the RIF.

He went right out to the Dell parking lot and said:

“ “this is all I know”…….”

Any tips on keeping the sueys at bay for our fellow colleagues who are going through it right now??

The best we can do is show up for one another

About a decade ago I was cut together with may dear coleagues - us who were affected found real help from the industry... from networking to resume sharing to landing great next roles... Because there were many good people who stayed inside Target, many of those teammates eventually came back... If you are cut, use your network and move on... If you are not cut, be that network and help... The best we can do is show up for one another.

Next week is going to be life-changing

Next week is going to be a whole different world in the office and in many people's personal lives. Thousands of colleagues (any maybe you) gone. New bosses and teams to navigate. Cancelled projects. Empty desks. End of a long era at an old-school studio finally coming to an end. Good luck, all.

Product team is actually really alarming

Spent an evening with some five9 team members tonight and someone that joined from the product team told me really alarming details about the senior layers of management still left. I knew this company was badly managed, but that team is in another zone. If you work with a PDM team, please try to give them your support.

Getting a lot of support from supervisor during PIP

Most of these threads are negative so I thought I’d share a positive story. I was NSI’d this year. Long story, ugly conflict with my previous organization. I’ve since transferred, and my new supervisor is proactively working with me to get through the PIP. Defending me from employee services, providing positive advice, and providing me opportunities to be stronger this year. It’s a nice change of pace from a previously toxic assignment. And no, I’m not a management plant.

Everyone on my team is running the business as usual; no one is talking about layoffs, weird...

Currently, I'm a tech support engineer for a Fusion team that supports an Oracle product for our customers. I don't want to go into too much detail, but no one seems to be worried, why??????? Are they stupid or is it just me that is realizing its time to look for something else.....
We have already lost a few members of our team, and while we have a lot of work and its draining, I feel that since they implemented their new AI support tool, our days here may be numbered.

I have a backup plan, but is it safe to assume that the layoffs are over in the US? Should I focus on upskilling and looking for something else? My gut tells me it might be time to leave Oracle.

Wishing Good Luck to Those Affected by Layoffs at Priceline oct 2025

Wishing everyone impacted the best of luck in finding new opportunities. If you're comfortable sharing, I’d love to hear more about how many people were affected and what kind of severance or support is being provided.

Any details are appreciated, & it could help others prepare in case of negotiations

Wishing you all the best during this challenging time!

Remember that getting laid off isn’t necessarily a reflection of your performance or value

I’m not sure whether it’s just Houston or all locations. Houston has a lot more to process than other locations so it could go either way at other locations. My recommendation is to start cleaning your laptop of any personal stuff, take personal things home now through the next few weeks, and then you’re prepared on Nov 10th regardless of what happens. Even if it happens in the office at your location, you probably don’t want to be walking down the hall with a box of your things for all to see. Where’s the dignity in that? For those that are told to WFH, the typical process is to mail you a pre-labeled box that you can use to ship your laptop and any other company property back to the company. There’s obviously no cost to you because the box is already labeled for prepaid shipping by the company. Everyone agrees that this whole thing is a difficult process, and for some a devastating one. Everyone I’ve spoken to is stressed out and very uncomfortable with what’s coming. Nonetheless, everyone will get through it one way or another. Life will go on and those who lose their jobs (unwillingly) will find new opportunities to begin the next chapter of their lives. Life does not end with one’s job. Remember that getting laid off in this round isn’t necessarily a reflection of your performance or value. This is such a large layoff that many good people that perform well will be dismissed. But, life will go on and those that are laid off will find the next opportunity in the next chapter of their lives.

Bumping this up for visibility. OP: @b4+1k6qj76jc

Bad timing for Avaya

Under this political climate, the major countries that support Avaya and keep the lights on will be looking at other options. Why would a large company in any other Country support a USA Corporation that is pulling out all it's investment in those Countries people.

Trying to get support from Avaya these days, is just pure frustration. No one is driving the bus....

Why even have Helpdesk?

If all these people we offshored these jobs to can only follow a simple script, why even have them? All they do is take a ticket, tell the user to restart their computer, and then assign it to some random engineering group that is only tangentially related, what are they good for? You don't even need AI to do something this simple.

Virtual Support

I know today and the next few days have and will be hard. The way this company is behaving is irrational; the colleague experience is not at the forefront of their minds nor the client experience that is preached about. Although they are preaching it is not cost savings it obviously is, they are chasing a number. This will not improve the stock price nor the client satisfaction levels. The actions taken today will have a huge impact of confidence levels from the board and analysts.

Today I have seen people in shock, hurt, and worried about their future. Whatever emotion you are feeling know it’s not a reflection of your talent or value. This thread is to offer support to those impacted.
