Worn down

I have worked at a few places, but this one takes the prize for how drained it leaves me. You can put in steady effort and still walk away feeling invisible. Folks talk about support, yet no one shows it when it matters. Lately I feel like I am just pushing through the days to get by.

We didn't make the cut.

My whole office is being taken over by Indirect and our positions are being eliminated. The agent was in our store recruiting within the first hour of opening the doors. The effective date is 1/1.

I don't know how it will feel to work the holidays knowing it all ends 12/31. I will take care of people that come in the way I would help a friend, but the numbers, the quotas, the lead calls... none of it matters. I am surprised a bit that we would be kept on board through the eoy, but I supposed they would rather have people clerking in the store for revenue, vs. dealing with a store that can't operate?

Prayers for the rest of your out there 🙏

Please be helpful

It’s a rough time right now. A lot of us are worried about our jobs, not because we’ve never lost or changed jobs before, but because the market is terrible. Everyone’s on edge. So if you share anything, make sure it’s reliable or at least somewhat grounded. We need to be mindful of what people are going through. This is the time to support each other, not stir up fear or spread bait.

Life After Verizon

I’m so sorry you all are going through this. I went through it with VZ in 2023. I just want to let you ALL know there is life outside of Verizon. I encourage you to take full advantage of the FREE resources they offer regarding job readiness. You will find yourself working a lot less hours, actually being able to have a life & being happier overall. I know today is hard, but just know the light at the end of the tunnel is much brighter than you could ever imagine.

Are you affected and how do you feel?

I left in 2024, I was laid off. I'm really sorry to hear about the layoff. That's tough &it's okay to feel whatever you're feeling right now. But i know all of you are VERY capable and good at what you do... Sometimes these things happen and they end up leading to something better, even tho it may not feel that way right now. I did and you WILL land at some place that appreciates what you bring. Godspeed.

From a former Verizon employee.

I just want you all to know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. I have several friends who still work for the company and they're all stressed. This is tough for everyone, especially with it being the holiday season. Hope everyone can lean on each other whether you kept your job or were laid off. Reach out to those who were let go and love on them. As it can put people in a really dark place. To those who were laid off, stay positive and encouraged as something better will come your way!

Spouse's Team Cut from 10 down to 2

Welp, there you go. He survived, but there's only 2 left out of 10. How can they possibly do that amount of work? So we know that they're just being kept around for knowledge transfer and then he will be gone in Feb/Mar when the next round hits.

We're both pretty upset as the people on the team were really good people and hard workers. No "slackers".

Best of luck to all of you. It's a really sad day for so many people... even for those that "survived".

For Those Impacted

Hello all,

As someone who dedicated many years to Verizon, my heart is with everyone impacted today. This season may bring doubt, fear, uncertainty, and even emotional or mental strain — and that’s completely human.

In moments like this, I encourage you to look up instead of down. Lean into your faith. Talk to God, give Him your worries, and let Him strengthen you. Don’t sit alone with heavy emotions — hand them over and let God work in the silence.

Just like a seed planted in the ground, you may feel surrounded by darkness at first. But roots grow in the unseen places. If you plant yourself in the right soil — prayer, stillness, and purpose — you will rise stronger than before.

I’m praying for you and your families through this transition. God will bring you through this, and what’s ahead will be better than what’s behind.

Verizon

As a spouse to a former Verizon employee who was riffed several years ago. I understand your fears. I pray all get the decision you wish for. Just know Verizon is a business and no one is irreplaceable. There’s no heart in it. I know what this kind of stress can do to a person. If you are riffed please take it as a blessing and leave Verizon in the rear window of your life. The constant mental torture of worry every few years is devastating to a person’s confidence and self worth sometimes. As my spouse is here in a hospice bed the only thing I’m grateful for is that Verizon means nothing to him. If you have your health and family that’s all you need. Hold your head up and find a job that won’t run you through mental torture every few years. It’ll be worth it no matter how it turns out for you today. I wish you all the best in life.

My anchor holds

My heart has been so heavy the last few days not because I'm worried just for myself, but because I've become somewhat addicted to checking this page and reading your posts and sensing your fear and frustration. I've joked for the past few years about wanting to get a VSP opportunity. But as I examine my life savings and number of years until I can officially retire i realize that those numbers dont add up. So I guess there is a bit of worry about that.

But I've been a person of faith all of my adult life. An old hymn we used to sing is called "My Anchor Holds" It speaks to times of uncertainty when storms rage, if our life is properly anchored, we will make it through the storm. Today I choose to cling onto that thought. When life knocks you down it gives you a chance to look up and find or renew your hope and faith in God. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you all today.

What a fun weekend this was

What a fun weekend this turned into, with me refreshing this page nonstop while chugging chamomile just to keep my nerves from going completely wild, only to spend half my time running to the bathroom from all the tea. It felt like an endless loop of checking updates, stressing, and trying to calm down, and I probably slept five or six hours total the entire weekend. The only thing that made it even a little easier was knowing there were other people going through the same thing, and there’s real comfort in not feeling completely alone in it.

You will survive this

I know these first few days after a layoff hit like a truck, and it feels like your whole world got reset overnight, but I promise the sting fades faster than you expect. Right now your main job is hunting for the next one, so treat it like a real schedule. Get up, get moving, send out applications, reach out to your contacts, tighten up your resume and profiles, and push through the morning and early afternoon. After that, force yourself outside. Walk around, lift something heavy, help out somewhere, or just sit where other people exist.

And do not let what happened define who you are. A job is not an identity, and the place that cut you loose was never meant to be a support system. This economy has been unstable for years, with people constantly getting pushed out and pulled back in. Folks lose work, they regroup, and they end up in better spots than the ones they left behind. You are not falling behind, you are not damaged, and you are not isolated in this. Keep putting one foot forward and each day gets a little lighter.

Crystal Dynamics announces layoffs

"Today we've made the difficult but necessary decision to reorganize Crystal Dynamics' studios and teams. As a result, we've parted ways with just under 30 team members across various departments and projects as we restructure the company and business for our next generation. Crystal deeply thanks all of those impacted for their incredible talent, hard work, and dedication, which helped shape the studio in so many ways. We are committed to offering our fullest resources and support to you during this transition.”

Not to alarm anyone.

So apparently if you haven’t been asked to give a list there’s basically a 20-30% chance you’re on one already. Also found out one of our bold leaders is buying a lakefront property well deserved! Excellent job at VZ.

Praying for everyone and their families. v teamer family is bs but human to human I don’t want anyone to get chopped but I wish everyone the best

Tomorrow

"On Friday, we'll officially welcome our new MEG colleagues and begin the important work of integration. We’ll share more information about what that looks like tomorrow, as well as other resources to support everyone during this transition." - Big J

Care Management

Another pilot - moving SNP associates to HUMCS to address social determinants of health. SNP audit was predicted this year so there has been all this pressure to address GIC’s and review to IHWA and MOP. Now we need to move to HUMCS pilot and cold call members to address social determinant of health needs. How do you help with housing, food, medical equipment, transportation and other needs so that members can go to the doctor and get needed care. Agencies don’t have $$$ to help with food scarcity. There is no low income housing available - Not accepting applications or waitlists. No transportation in rural areas or members cannot afford. Members having to choose between food or meds or housing. Utilities turned off because of reduction in LIHEAP assistance. The democrats gave up. Republicans have cut off financial support for social programs. Without the financial assistance programs, people cannot meet their very basic needs. It shouldn’t be this hard to ensure that people have housing, safety, healthcare, food, etc. Many members have income of $1000 or less per month. Could you live on that? This is not about politics - it’s about people helping people, kindness, and basic humanity. Vote, donate, find little ways to advocate for others, speech up, educate others. Let’s do this together. Let’s believe in and support each other. Let’s lead with love and not hate.

I hate this !

Ugh today at DHK the rumors of layoffs are spreading again - that it’s going to be after the holidays in January. I don’t know if it’s true because people always talk a lot but last time the rumors were right.

If NYP did their job right and protected children and women from being as--ulted. I’m sure there would be no to fewer layoffs. God bless everyone in this time. We’re not just numbers we are people with real lives. Take care of each other and if anyone has more info keep us posted !

Support Through Action

As many of us are finding out this morning, today is the start. For those of us fortunate to stay, we should aim to actively support those who will be forced to leave. Please remember to help those impacted by supporting their search for new employment. You have networks and skill sets that will help.

Why Insurance companies expressed support for the extension or permanency of the enhanced premium tax credits provided under ACA?

When healthcare industry groups, especially insurance providers, publicly support the extension of enhanced premium tax credits, it sounds compassionate on the surface — “helping more Americans afford coverage.” But the real motive often has little to do with public welfare and everything to do with profit stability , greed and guaranteed revenue.
So yes — they support it, but not out of altruism. They support it because it locks in a steady stream of guaranteed income under the banner of accessibility.
