Audiobooks until the end of the month…

Do not recommend House of Fidelity.. but…

This book really helped me get through a tough transition when i left the firm. I highly recommend for those impacted in the tech space

Bit of a click bait title - but Erika used to work at fidelity and has a chapter where she goes into how that played out, and i have to say it sounds oddly familiar to some peoples experiences now.

And if anyone, i mean anyone has ever given you the book “who moved my cheese” never speak to them again.

How can a Fidelity Alumni help?

Software engineer laid off some years ago from the firm. I know what it’s like to be laid off, and have interest in offering help to people in my field. I would like to volunteer my contact info for anyone impacted. For obvious reasons, I feel uncomfortable putting my contact info on this forum. Is there a way I can reach out to Fidelity HR to let them know I would be willing to be contacted by software engineers recently impacted by the layoff, so they can send my contact to people impacted?

Thank you.

If you were laid off in 2026, please read

As someone who was let go from another company, here are a couple of things I'd tell my younger self:

  • Take some time to process everything that happened and what it means to you financially
  • It's almost impossible not to speculate why YOU. Whether there was a specific reason or not, it doesn't matter anymore
  • Connect to that ex-Nike linkedin group. I heard good things
  • Once it is all said and done, avoid coming back to this site

You'll feel the urge to state your opinion, and share something like "see, I knew this was going to break!". As someone who actually did this, I only regret my decision of doing so, because it took me longer to move on from being let go.

I have seen d-mb decisions that had to be rolled back later on. I'm sure Nike has done some d-mb stuff that will have to be undone. But, if I were you, stop checking this site if you no longer work here. I've only found helpful to know when these reorgs would happen so I can start prepping my resume/interviews in the event that I am cut off.

have a great one

How to get experience letter from Nike with job duties (Alumni)

Hi everyone,
I’m a former employee of Nike and I’m trying to obtain a more detailed experience letter. So far, I’ve only received a basic employment verification that includes my start date, end date, and job title.
For my current needs, I require a letter that also outlines my roles and responsibilities (job duties) during my time there.
Has anyone here successfully requested a detailed experience or reference letter from Nike after leaving the company? If so, could you share the process, the right contact/team to reach out to, or any tips on how to make this request effective?
Any guidance would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Why doesn't the Alumni portal have former employees' w2/payslip info readily available?

It's that time of the year. Honeywell former employees must email HRHelp to get our w2 / payslip documents for tax purposes according to Alumni hub. Just in case former employees (like myself) are needing this information quickly (like me) for meeting with an accountant or filing taxes you can't just download this like any other business in modern times. Go figure.

Nielsen Alumnus Speaking

One of the perks of being in a toxic workplace that has experienced massive layoffs is that you have a large alumni network of people who have left and figured it out. We are here for you... willing to give recommendations, referrals and share our network... just reach out. Admittedly, the market is hard, but having a personal connection gives you a huge advantage.

Qualcomm’s longest-serving employee

A heart warming article on WSJ about the longest serving employee of QC..

De... ..nch at Qualcomm
Principal engineer/manager
Age: 61
Date hired: 1987

Early days: Qualcomm’s longest-serving employee moved to San Diego after college, looking for warm weather. He saw a classified ad in the San Diego Union-Tribune in 1987 and applied for a role as a technician. He was 22. “I had no idea what the company was,” he said. Qualcomm would go on to power the technology used inside millions of cellphones and other devices, with Punch working on many of the company’s key projects.

Once a Qorvonian… Always a Qorvonian

Oh, my dearest, most radiant Qorvo family — today I lay down my metaphorical badge, yet my trembling heart refuses to let go. To say “thank you” feels as feeble as whispering to a thunderstorm, but I must try, for you deserve nothing less than a symphony of gratitude.

Every morning at Qorvo was a sunrise painted by destiny itself — every meeting, every spreadsheet, every coffee-fueled brainstorm, a brushstroke in the masterpiece of my soul. You were not just colleagues… you were constellations of excellence, each of you a blazing light that guided me through the vast galaxy of innovation.

To my manager — the titan, the visionary, the Michelangelo of leadership — your wisdom carved purpose into the marble of my career. I am but a humble apprentice who will spend a lifetime trying (and failing) to emulate your effortless brilliance. You didn’t just manage; you manifested greatness.

And to my team — the dazzling architects of possibility — thank you for letting me bask in your glow. You turned ordinary days into living legends. The camaraderie we shared was more intoxicating than the finest coffee from the breakroom machine (and that coffee was divine).

So this isn’t goodbye — no, never that. It’s merely an intermission in the opera of our shared destiny. I know, deep in the spreadsheets of my soul, that we will unite again when Qorvo, in its infinite wisdom, calls us home once more.

Until then, I remain forever in awe, forever devoted, and forever —
A Proud, Grateful, Eternally Weeping Qorvonian

The best we can do is show up for one another

About a decade ago I was cut together with may dear coleagues - us who were affected found real help from the industry... from networking to resume sharing to landing great next roles... Because there were many good people who stayed inside Target, many of those teammates eventually came back... If you are cut, use your network and move on... If you are not cut, be that network and help... The best we can do is show up for one another.
