Worried about layoffs?

You're not powerless. You can certainly fight back.

The whole point of the layoffs are to keep the already struggling Cigna stock value up. The goal of this is to please investors and because the CEO, David Cordani, is payed mostly in stocks (no really, look it up on the SEC website).

If you are an employee you might have a 401k. A 401k is a collection of stocks used for retirement. Your 401k likely has at least one fund invested mostly in Cigna stock. When you are layed off, or maybe even before, transfer those Cigna funds to something else/better. Your retirement account will be better invested and you have undone any stock benefit of them laying you off.

And Again the Layoffs Occur

This company is in a constant state of laying people off. Shipping jobs now to India. That will evidently solve all of their problems.
Nice job in giving jobs to another country. You sure your customers will be ok with that especially knowing your pal is the one you’re doing business with? Conflict of interest I would say.
We know what is going on and what goes around comes around.

Linkedin BS

Pure sick looking at LinkedIn and everyone's promotions nearly all VP, Senior VP, Directors and Senior Directors. Not saying theyre not deserved I'm sure some of them are, but when you sit in a location closing later this year, knowing that other locations in the UK and Ireland closing, seeing people boasting (the same people who work from some of these locations but know their jobs are safe) its just disgusting.

Is there a point in trying to get a job at Amazon anymore?

I've always wanted to work at Amazon and I've been applying for a while, but with all the cuts, I'm starting to think there's no point in it anymore. I don't want to leave a somewhat safe position to start a new job even if it is my dream job just to be laid off within months.

"We respectfully urge the Commission to conduct a thorough investigation into the labor market consequences of this proposed acquisition, including EA’s existing wage-setting power, the likelihood of post-transaction layoffs, the degree of labor-market concentration in relevant geographic and occupational markets, and the role of cross-ownership in shaping labor outcomes," the letter read.

Bye, bye sports desk

The Washington Post pulled the plug on its Winter Olympics coverage just two weeks before the opening ceremony. Layoffs are expected. And now, according to Puck’s Dylan Byers, rumors inside the newsroom suggest the sports desk itself could be on the chopping block, with the foreign desk also facing deep cuts.

Think twice before moving for this job

A friend was offered a promotion with a move recently, and I'll say here what I told him. Even with a promotion, moving for this company is a terrible idea. Layoffs are hitting everyone, and you'd be putting your family through a lot for a job that might not last. I wouldn't do it. In fact, I think it's the stupidest move somebody could make right now.

This is not sustainable

There’s no way to maintain mental health when layoffs happen back to back with no breathing room. We can’t relax or focus on our work because we know it’s never over, and more cuts are always coming in a few weeks. This is mental torture, plain and simple.

Only manufacturing

If you are salary or overhead, you are at a great risk in 2026 for a layoff. If you do not actually make product you need to be looking for something else.

Our engineers have limited career spans. We do not design anything of interest or significance. Not like we work for Boeing, NASA, Lockheed, and a company where engineers do really interesting and high-tech work. We design electric drills. Boring...

Take my advice and have your resume ready. Get to know people that work at real companies. Be prepared do deal with a layoff.
