Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

DI-K'S CLOSING 175 CHAMPS AND 400 FOOTLOCKER STORES BY END OF THIS YEAR

That is awful news for Nike because after collapse of DTC, Nike needs more doors than ever before!!! There are no new stores coming down the pipeline and existing ones are going down the pipe.
I guess that is when you say Nike is stuck in a rock and a harp place!!

Brick and mortar shoe stores are done!!! So it is up to Nike to create new source of doors to move their product.
Brick and mortar is done!! So what Nike should do is open third party sellers in amazon, walmart and ebay to sell in that platform who are there with proven good standing status.
Nike cannot open more independent brick and mortar stores since nobody in right mind will open stores.
So Nike needs to go outside of box and open independent third party sellers in internet!!!

@k6 Unlikely to have much of a material impact. Footlocker is extremely over-leveraged in brick and mortar. The bigger concern is the margin compression from Di-k's stronger negotiating position.

@OP the bottom line is that Nike will have less door send their goods out to.

I know it sounds like less number of door will not matter if you sell more, well that sounds like JD's idea of we will push everything through DTC and we don't need doors.

In the long run, it will matter but sales will be down or flat and very difficult to go up

This is like if Home Depot bought Lowes and closed one of the stores that are right next to each other in each area. As long as the location can handle the increase in volume, it has very little affect on the availability or overall sales in the area

Uh they bought those chains to eliminate competition. What did you think they would do with them?

Nike is closing several Nike Factory stores, so not sure if your idea is going to work.
