Even when we're supposed to be safe, there's always that thought in the back of my mind, ever since we were completely blindsided one time. I just want to be able to focus on my work once again without stressing and worrying, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

Yes and No. We should all be feverishly seeking a new assignment. Double income and a new employer is what winning looks like.
Turn and Burn company
I have been thinking about it for 6 years since they told me they were outsourcing my payroll job. They have been hanging that carrot above my head. We are still sort of needed, but honestly I can't wait to get out of this company. I thought I'd be here until I retire.
This is the new normal, not only in your company, but also in my company (technology). Due to AI, jobs are being replaced in masses. And it's very difficult to find another job paying the same amount.
