How's everybody feeling?
It's Monday, and I'm still depressed and nonproductive. The weekend was no better. I hope other's are having a better day.
As reality starts to hit me...
..depression is setting in. Thoughts are going to worst case scenerios. Can't help to think everything that I have worked for all these years is in danger.
Start preparing now
The amount of panic and anxiety on this board was overwhelming for the last month. I hope that it served as a lesson (it did for me) to not wait to get our affairs in order. Start preparing and looking for jobs now, the RIF's are not done. If you get complacent again, you will go through the same panic in a few months.
Why are we even discussing layoffs?
They’ve been a never-ending affair for a long time.
I wish for an alternate reality where none of us had to live in permanent existential dread.
Still unable to sleep
I survived. Most of my team made it. And here I am, still unable to relax and sleep. I think this messed me up more than I thought.
Anyone else morale low and feel sad
I survived but I don’t feel comfortable now. How long until I’m next? Executive don’t give a cr*p about us. I’m in network assurance and we were already thing with the VSP and bo-m! Hit us 15 more people in our market. What now??

It’s just better to know
It was the silence and uncertainty that was ki-ling me. Waiting for the hatchet to fall. Created so much intense anxiety. Especially since EVERYONE and their mother knew that the layoffs were coming.
Yes, I’m out of a job. It’s not what I wanted, but at least I know. I’m going to take a few days to digest this unexpected turn of events. Then I’m moving forward in putting this dumpster fire of a company in the rearview mirror.
This feels like a nightmare
I am safe, and I dont feel great. I feel destroyed. So many people around me are gone, and my heart is broken. I can't even understand how we move forward without some of the groups we have lost today
Layoffs
Did anybody realize last week's layoffs were coming? For me, it completely came out of the blue. Now I'm even more nervous that it can happen any day without warning, and it's not helping my mental health at all.
Dead Silence In My Team!
Anyone else having the same feeling? I have not heard anything from my Manager or Director…No invites or schedules on their calendar…all team members are just on the edge of their seats even if a new email pops up. But no word if we are all safe or any impact on our team!
Just getting too anxious at this point! I hope at least they let us know if we are safe or not!
Security patch reboot?
Anyone get this when the logged in this morning. Of course makes me ultra paranoid to have seen a security patch reboot prompt as soon as I unlocked my computer
My anchor holds
My heart has been so heavy the last few days not because I'm worried just for myself, but because I've become somewhat addicted to checking this page and reading your posts and sensing your fear and frustration. I've joked for the past few years about wanting to get a VSP opportunity. But as I examine my life savings and number of years until I can officially retire i realize that those numbers dont add up. So I guess there is a bit of worry about that.
But I've been a person of faith all of my adult life. An old hymn we used to sing is called "My Anchor Holds" It speaks to times of uncertainty when storms rage, if our life is properly anchored, we will make it through the storm. Today I choose to cling onto that thought. When life knocks you down it gives you a chance to look up and find or renew your hope and faith in God. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you all today.
We should play a drinking game
I can already tell I will not sleep at all tonight, and with so many of us WFH tomorrow, the idea of getting through the day with a buzz sounds way more appealing than doing it stone sober. I know this is me trying to joke my way through the stress, but right now I feel like anything that takes the edge off is worth considering.
Are they really going to lay finance workers off right before the holidays?
We have families and kids that depend on us. Everyone’s all worried and it’s impossible to find a decent job in this economy.
Damn it. They have no empathy. And all the available jobs su-k and are pay cuts.

I keep seeing Lake Mary and multiple other offices in this thread that may or may not be closed eventually or teams that are told to be WFH but haven’t seen much or any posts on NJ location. Any teams in NJ scared of what’s coming? Are we people in tax going to be affected?

I try to keep up with the stocks and stuff and it seems like we did so bad this year then i saw the other day that we lost another contract in Fla and then the tax credits for our market place plans are going away. And then the medicaid cuts are gonna lose us more members. does it feel like maybe this company won't be around very long?

Hard to believe it’s this tight lipped. It’s like we’re a boat heading to sea. On the horizon we see the big storm bubbling and everyone on the boat is just paddling straight in. Get ready for the waves I guess. Hopefully we actually learn something tomorrow. I find it difficult to believe there’s not one member of leadership that knows what’s going on.
This wasn’t just Dan’s call to make
Here’s another worthless perspective from a former VZW sales leader.
Large and substantial layoffs like this take several months to plan and put together. There’s absolutely no way that these layoffs were Dan’s sole creation from 4 weeks ago. I’m positive Dan voted for the move, along with the other board members, back when this was originally conceived and decided. This isn’t something you just cook up over a 3-day weekend.
Dan is doing what he should do in this situation and that’s simply taking accountability for the direction that VZ is heading for. That’s what good leaders do. It also won’t hurt that Dan will be much more effective in selling these changes to the street.
This really su-ks for everyone; I know because it happened to me in 2019. I’m praying for everyone that has or will be impacted. I have friends and family that are patiently waiting (not sleeping) for tomorrow’s meetings.

Don’t know if it’s an official “layoff” but people are disappearing left and right. Reorg in process, and some groups seem overdue. Production line ending now. Reply if you’ve heard of actual layoffs.
VCG Operations
Has anyone heard about VCG Operations? Any talks of who is being riffed or any impacts to that department? Have they been notified? Are they being restructured?
Lack of innovation
There was the time that if you proposed downsizing Workforce and talent to increase Revenue you would be laughed out of the room and you'd probably be let go. These are easy solutions in our short-term gains for long-term sacrifices we used to run by the notion that if you lost somebody of 10 years it takes you 10 years or more to replace that person. Then we started analyzing to how long it takes to get somebody at a basic proficiency and that's what we're targeting we can't keep PSO Partners worth anything to turn over is insane the internals that we have of such a bad attitude and are unwilling to change tactics or develop new ones all we have little to no control over partners and what they do tarnishing our brand you're the most Innovative thing was 5G well the thing was there's four G's before it so it really wasn't Innovative at all it was like the 5th sequel to a movie now a lot of us have witnessed the growth of new cell phones and smartphones and they'll probably be like the biggest business growth that will ever see in our lives and what we did with that money was really stupid there's so much we can learn from it but to have someone new from the business try to change so much so quickly as just a disaster and it's insane that the board or the shareholders would trust somebody with billions of dollars within days like literally days of being appointed but we've seen this all before huge layoffs in the past year every single time what would happen before them are people who have been executive level and above resign or retire or move to a different position that's because what was being demanded was against their core values and if it's against the core values of extremely greedy people you know it's wrong even though it might be legal.
I know I'm kind of going all over the place just trying to say that times have changed it's sad to see The Innovation is dead. But I do foresee though is possible class action lawsuits for psychological trauma because everyone's psychological well-being has not been well taken care of during this situation this really should be something that's pursued I really highly recommend talking to an employment law attorney especially if you felt any anxiety or that you've had to take time off or that things have been really hard around the home or even if you include cost from seeking treatment and if you haven't definitely look into it because your mental well-being it's worth more than what any company could ever pay you
What if I haven’t heard anything?
My manager is out and I haven’t heard anything from my AD or SD. Is that a bad sign? Am I on the laid off list?

As for me, I can’t see the silver lining in any outcome. I used to think I’d be relieved to be let go with a bit of money, but now I’m just anxious about what happens next if I am laid off.

Go to your directory find your SD go to each AD that reports to them copy them all onto a spreadsheet including the managers since their on the chopping block too. Riff at least 20% from that list after rack and stack everyone if you fall into the bottom 20% then you know the answer.
I did that last Friday and I'm good too go for now.
My 20% was about 16 people across 5-6 managers
