Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Any updates on the February rumor?

Many are talking about potential February layoffs. Does anyone have solid intel, or are we all just anxiously guessing? I wish we knew one way or the other so we could prepare.

@c1 looks like Rick was probably asked to go. That was a short message on him.

Email was sent today by Adrienne. 500 roles

“…. This spring, we’re consolidating the number of store districts to streamline our field structure and better empower our store directors to meet guests’ needs. This change also fuels our ability to put significantly more payroll in our stores – primarily in additional labor and hours where needed most, but also in new guest experience training for every team member at every store. Within our supply chain team, we’re standardizing the field operating model to reduce complexity and better match business needs.

These changes will help our field teams work more efficiently and with more focus, while increasing store labor hours in service of our guests. But they also result in the elimination of around 500 roles – about 100 at the store district level and about 400 across our supply chain sites. While these are the right moves for our business, they directly impact team members, and those are incredibly difficult decisions to make. We have already shared the news with team members directly impacted, and we’ll be supporting them through this transition with a range of resources and benefits….”

GSCL layoffs, leaning heavily towards online fulfillment as stores have mostly taken over that process. The only exception will be 2-3 strategically placed standalone that will ship big and bulky that cannot be filled through stores due to limited storage. This explains the inconsistency of last peak season in the FCs as ship from store went through troubleshooting.
